Writers: unappreciated and taken for granted

The writers strike in the US has brought an undervalued and unappreciated profession to the foreground of cultural consciousness. Writers are notoriously underpaid, yet what they produce in all sectors and mediums is indispensable and generates billions in wealth. Underpaid and unappreciated writers (in solidarity) are about to teach western society a lesson it may never forget. The pen is mightier than the bomb, stock market or anything else you care to mention. Writers will soon demonstrate the fact. A few cultures today continue to revere their writers and fully appreciate the power of the pen – a power that far outweighs the power of the bomb/violence. Yet in the perverse west, writers are treated as second rate commodities and taken for granted.
Various industries make billions in profits from the work of writers and other artists, but writers/artists receive the minium share – no longer!
I would like to make a distinction at this point – I am not a writer; writing for this person is a by-product of the discipline of textual/cultural/social/political analysis. So in that respect I will sound a clear warning to the wankers who actually imagine it is they who possess the means and tools to affect social consciousness – NOT SO!
Text/language/words are the building blocks of the mind and by extension CULTURAL REALITY – you will undervalue or underestimate writers at your own peril. Writers have direct access to the public and popular mind – are we beginning to understand?
Writers have turned their keyboards to revolution and social change, they have effectively changed governments in a number of nations and will continue to direct their talents to bring down the forces who have not only abused their talents but have plunged the world into chaos. Distance (cultural or spacial) presents no barrier to the writers of the world –THEY ARE ONE! Writers understand the very subtle nuances in each other’s texts. Together they form an invincible force -- amazing isn’t it?
Keep your stinking money, bombs and war toys – the ‘pen’ is bringing you down more effectively than any other means.
Abuse and starve writers at great cost – their’s should be the greater share but you have trained them to despise your money so now they bring you down – and good bloody riddance!
“And as I end the refrain, thrust ho!”

The mirror lies
that can’t be me
shiny
brightly lit up streets
invite midnight’s muffled
velvet feet
through roadmap veins
quick heart beats
to crystal meth
para’s beat
until one day
you stop and SEE
all life’s treasures were for free
but it’s far too late
for them
and me.
but take a ride it’s always free
the carousel turns
incessantly
desolate voyagers
icy sheets
a racing brain
no longer spins
rhymes
that once did weave
realities
that parade
today
as dreams
Beware the poets of the guild
their pens now swords
against their Kings
no longer do they dance and sing
for crumbs and other petty things.
For every tear a child did weep
haunts us all
in wake and sleep
no longer do we write to hide
blood-stained altars
child sacrifice
The tide against the mighty turns
their hallowed halls and palaces burn
to light the sky for all too see
their deceptions and duplicities
