A bulletin on Newsradio Australia, detailed Israeli rehearsals for an attack on Iran! Israeli attack aircraft are flying practise runs to Gibraltar in preparation for a (laser) guided missile attack on Iranian targets; the laser missiles would be followed by a nuclear strike in order to irradiate the target sites! Reference was made to the 1981 strike on an Iraqi target believed at the time to be engaged in developing WMD! (story and 3 comments)

Slow ships -- Fast missiles! image Cakewalk Crowd Abandons Bush Patrick J. Buchanan via fleet, Thursday, Jan 4 2007, 9:13am
Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan, said a rueful John F. Kennedy after the Bay of Pigs. George W. Bush knows today whereof his predecessor spoke. (story and 1 comment and 1 image)

text Unqualified Slogans: “Win” and “Way Forward” peptide, Thursday, Dec 21 2006, 11:16am
As America faces the most calamitous military misadventure in its history, the administration offers unqualified slogans rather than detailed plans to remedy the horror it created in Iraq. The American mass media is now buzzing with the sound of nothing meaningful. The Bush administration has resorted to contextually meaningless slogans in its efforts to dupe an increasingly sceptical public. The latest inane slogans saturating the airwaves are “win” and “way forward”. Only adolescents and the daft invest meaning in unqualified slogans – shall we test the latest two slogans and attempt to determine the ruse behind the deception? (story and 1 comment)

donkey image John Kerry’s Reality Attack peptide, Wednesday, Nov 1 2006, 8:26pm
In that strange inverted land called America politicians who tell the truth risk ridicule and reprimand; John Kerry has been attacked by the opposition and members of his own party for stating the truth regarding the intellectual capability of some military personnel in Iraq. 'And they all screamed foul' – only in America! (story and 1 image)

American media 'integrity' -- below image Democracy Burning Kingfisher, Friday, Sep 29 2006, 4:12pm
What consistencies, common elements and patterns are identifiable in the following events: the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the attack on the USS Liberty, and 9/11? Although time, geographic location and historical context separate these events they nevertheless share remarkably similar aims, objectives and characteristics. All these orchestrated events provided an excuse for the USA to engage in what would have otherwise been blatantly illegal warfare. The Tonkin incident ‘justified’ American miliary aggression against Vietnam; the USS Liberty incident would have provided an ideal excuse for U.S. involvement in the six-day war; the 9/11 attack has been utilised as the primary justification for America’s military expansionism and the implementation of draconian laws on the domestic front. Alice Springs Court Protest image 'Ploughshares' to Support Pine Gap Defendants Ciaron via MIM, Thursday, Sep 28 2006, 6:49am
A couple of months ago our Pit Stop Ploughshares community was acquitted of $US2.5million damage to a U.S. war plane at Shannon Airport, Ireland. I'm presently heading to Alice Springs to support the Pine Gap resisters.

In December '05, six anti-war activist friends made the 3,000 km long trek through the Austalian Outback to the secret Pine Gap NSA Base near Alice Springs in the Northern Terrirory. They transported themselves in a van converted to run on recyled fish and chip oil. They had written to a number outback fish and chip shops and asked them to save them their used oil, some did! text 9/11: The "Unifying Myth" for the War on Terror Mike Whitney via rialator, Friday, Sep 8 2006, 4:20pm
To a large extent, the war on terror is a shabby promotional scheme designed to mobilize the nation for a permanent state of war while curtailing civil liberties. There’s nothing original in this analysis, but it does explain the importance of media as a vehicle for Bush’s public relations campaign. It also explains why high-ranking officials in the administration are still provided unlimited air-time to reiterate the same bland bromides over and over again without being challenged.

text War is Not a Solution for Terrorism Howard Zinn via rialator, Saturday, Sep 2 2006, 7:12am
There is something important to be learned from the recent experience of the United States and Israel in the Middle East: that massive military attacks, inevitably indiscriminate, are not only morally reprehensible, but useless in achieving the stated aims of those who carry them out.

text Why I am a 'Terrorist' Charles Sullivan via rialator, Saturday, Sep 2 2006, 7:08am
According to the twisted logic recently espoused by Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, the failure to support illegal, immoral and unnecessary wars defines one as a terrorist. Let me be clear about where I stand: I know who the real terrorists are, and can name each one of them—Rumsfeld among the rest.

text If not Now, when? finch, Friday, Sep 1 2006, 10:48am
Surely it is time to restore intelligent, sane, Democratic secular government throughout the world! Over the past eight years we have all had a taste of the simplistic binary ‘us or them’ logic of religionists; the reality is that the majority of people on the planet reject religious divisionism and the associated violent ‘solutions’ of criminals, liars, demented murderers and delusional fools. text Hizbullah's victory has transformed the Middle East George Galloway in Beirut, Thursday, Aug 31 2006, 4:32pm
As the smoke clears from the battlefield of the 34-day war in Lebanon, it would be a mistake to count the cost only in fallen masonry and fresh graves. All is changed, changed utterly, by the defeat that the whole of Israel is now debating, from the cabinet through the lively press to the embittered reservists at the falafel stall. Practically the only person in the world who claims Israel won the war is George Bush - and we all know his definition of the words "mission accomplished".

text The Information Revolution and Post-Modern Warfare Steven Metz via rialator, Tuesday, Aug 29 2006, 6:11pm
This is a fascinating paper for analysts, strategists, activists, hackers, political bloggers and numerous others. Written in 2000 it has already proven prophetic regarding proxy wars; States imitating the methodologies of organised crime; the increasing privatisation of warfare and much much more.

It also serves as a window into the workings of the inept U.S. and Israeli administrations. Both regimes confuse wishful thinking and dissociative rhetoric with post-modern warfare; we refer to the Bush, "mission accomplished", statement and the dissociative Olmert announcement that the 'Hezbollah infrastructure has been completely destroyed'.

This paper is a revealing document invaluable to those who oppose all forms of totalitarian rule -- know your enemy!

BANKSY -- elephant-2 image Aspects of Asymmetric Post-Modern Warfare dingo, Sunday, Aug 27 2006, 10:40am
Victory over any opponent is the result of functionally superior values and strategies not advanced technologies as is often imagined; wars today continue to be fought by men and women. The relative strengths and weakness of combatants and cultures determine outcomes in today’s conflicts. The recent conflict in Lebanon demonstrates that military might is no match for superior strategy and tactics – superior technology is the intoxicant of technocrats and the drug of weak and incapable fighters/soldiers. UZA image Lebanon, Lies and Criminal Warfare Kwang zi, Thursday, Aug 24 2006, 6:24am
“Israel has a right to defend itself” was the inane excuse offered to the world by the Bush administration for the murder and vandalism committed by Israel in Lebanon – what price ‘defensive warfare’ in today’s world? The unprecedented vandalism and indiscriminate slaughter in Lebanon was (we are expected to believe) the measured response to a border incursion and two kidnapped soldiers! Hundreds of dead children, wanton destruction and the criminal oil pollution of the Mediterranean coast are the results of Israel ‘defending’ itself? (story and 4 comments and 1 image)

Kofi Annan image Ceasefire Violated: The Nature of the Beast gan, Saturday, Aug 19 2006, 2:22pm
Most people are familiar with the popular tales of the half-dead venomous snake that bit the man who saved its life and the scorpion that stung the frog that ferried it (on its back) away from floodwaters that threatened to drown it. Both stories share a similar moral; the beast remains true to its nature regardless of noble, humanitarian, mitigating factors – serpents will always strike and scorpions will always sting, regardless! text The Losers War: Lebanon finch, Thursday, Aug 17 2006, 4:13pm
FAILURE is emblazoned on the foreheads of all those involved; the VICTORY of the day is for PEACE and there is nothing any power, state, or group could do to prevent the (future) peaceful intentions of the people. Human civilisation and the blood of innocents demand it! (story and 1 comment)
