Using the TPP to Renegotiate and Expand NAFTA
Dana Gabriel via gan, Tuesday, Jun 26 2012, 9:11am
Both Canada and Mexico have been invited to join the U.S., along with other countries already engaged in negotiations which will deepen trade and economic ties within the Asia-Pacific region. Such a deal would surpass NAFTA in size and scope. The U.S. led talks which have been criticized for their secretive nature, could be used to update aspects of existing trade pacts among member nations. This would provide the perfect opportunity for a backdoor renegotiation of NAFTA without officially having to open it back up. (story and 1 comment)

The Reality of Mass Mind Control
shad, Sunday, Jun 24 2012, 12:39pm
Mind control conducted by nefarious elites against the masses has always been the stuff of conspiracy theory -- after all, everybody 'knows' it's just not possible to control the people of an entire nation armed with nothing more than psychological methods! (story and 4 comments)

U.S. Crimes Against Humanity - Psyops Become the News
John Pilger via gan, Friday, Jun 22 2012, 6:12am
Arriving in a village in southern Vietnam, I caught sight of two children who bore witness to the longest war of the 20th century. Their terrible deformities were familiar. All along the Mekong river, where the forests were petrified and silent, small human mutations lived as best they could.

Study: Renewable sources could supply 80% of U.S. electricity by 2050
Stephen C. Webster via stele, Thursday, Jun 21 2012, 12:10pm
If the U.S simply committed to building out the transmission infrastructure, the Department of Energy (DOE) believes that currently existing renewable energy technology “is more than adequate” to supply up to 80 percent of the nation’s daily electricity use by the year 2050, a new study has found. The Balkanization of Nepal gathers pace
Dr. Arun Shrivastava via sadh, Thursday, Jun 21 2012, 1:02am
Nepal’s leadership failed to draft a new Constitution. The mandate of 602-member Constituent Assembly [CA] elected in 2008 ended on 27th May, 2012 without a consensus as to how Nepal should be governed. Total cost of the exercise came to Rs 8,900 million [roughly US$100 million] ending up in endless blame game and petty bickering. The big issue is identity federalism; the intractable issue distribution of power.

Banks cut cosy deals with each other while You get shafted
Robert Scheer via stan, Thursday, Jun 14 2012, 9:45am
Statistics are boring, but it’s important to wrap your head around this latest one from the Federal Reserve as the definitive epitaph for the American dream. Wall Street’s financial shenanigans, the banking games that made some fat cats outrageously wealthy as they turned home mortgages into toxic securities, wiped out 20 years of growth in American families’ net worth. India, no 'linchpin' in US strategy against China
Shastri Ramachandaran via sadh, Wednesday, Jun 13 2012, 1:41am
In January, when the Obama administration came out with its ambition of a military "pivot" to Asia, it caused confusion and unease in the region. Earlier this month, speaking at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, which was attended by most Asian defense ministers, US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta eschewed the term "pivot" and referred to a "rebalancing" toward Asia. NATO: A Criminal Globalist Militay Force
Vijay Prashad via Captain, Tuesday, Jun 12 2012, 12:20am
NATO went to war in Libya to protect civilians through a U.N. mandate (Resolution 1973). Given legitimacy by the U.N. Human Rights Council and by the International Criminal Court, NATO began its ten thousand bombing missions. It quickly exceeded the U.N. mandate, moving for regime change using immense violence. All attempts to find a peaceful solution were blocked. The African Union's high-level panel was prevented from entering Libya as the NATO barrage began. (story and 1 image)

Oz: "we are hiring mercenaries"
major mitchell, Sunday, Jun 10 2012, 2:24am
In a thinly disguised effort to 'internationalise' the ADF and weaken its fiercely independent, highly skilled and dedicated, patriotic fighting forces, the treasonous Gillard government has -- on orders from Washington -- implemented a policy to dilute our fighting forces with FOREIGN mercenaries that have no allegiance to anything other than themselves and money! US military suicides average one per day
Jonathan Terbush via stan, Friday, Jun 8 2012, 10:44am
The principal cause of military suicides is 'burnout;' a term used to cover a multitude of causes, not least among them is fighting illegal, dishonorable, Corporate wars for profit against innocent people. As the jarring contradiction between military indoctrination and the sordid reality on the ground hits home, troops resort more and more to booze, narcotics and amphetamines in futile attempts to avoid facing responsibility for murdering civilians and fighting gangster wars of Corporate appropriation. But as we all know avoidance tactics only delay the inevitable, overwhelming crisis.
It is important to place Pfc Bradley Manning in this context; this brave young soldier is not only doing his comrades a service by exposing Pentagon war crimes, he is FIGHTING overwhelming odds against an inherently corrupt criminal system that cares not for honor, justice and the moral right, but serves the interests of criminal Corporate elites -- isn't that right, Mr Dick 'KBR' Cheney? Financial Collapse Inevitable -- when is sooner or later?
Dr. Paul Craig Roberts via judd, Wednesday, Jun 6 2012, 1:32am
Ever since the beginning of the financial crisis and Quantitative Easing, the question has been before us: How can the Federal Reserve maintain zero interest rates for banks and negative real interest rates for savers and bond holders when the US government is adding $1.5 trillion to the national debt every year via its budget deficits? Not long ago the Fed announced that it was going to continue this policy for another 2 or 3 years. Indeed, the Fed is locked into the policy. Without the artificially low interest rates, the debt service on the national debt would be so large that it would raise questions about the US Treasury’s credit rating and the viability of the dollar, and the trillions of dollars in Interest Rate Swaps and other derivatives would come unglued.

Western Banks 'Reaping Billions from Colombian Cocaine Trade'
Ed Vulliamy via reed, Wednesday, Jun 6 2012, 1:02am
The vast profits made from drug production and trafficking are overwhelmingly reaped in rich "consuming" countries – principally across Europe and in the US – rather than war-torn "producing" nations such as Colombia and Mexico, new research has revealed. And its authors claim that financial regulators in the west are reluctant to go after western banks in pursuit of the massive amount of drug money being laundered through their systems.
