Permanent War

US Secretary of Defence, Donald Rumsfeld, recently announced the ‘war on terror’ would be re-named “the long war”; this announcement has not surprised analysts who are aware that neo-con ideologues and strategists follow the Straussian (and perverted Trotskyist) doctrine of permanent war. Some interpret this as nostalgia for the ‘good old days’ of the Cold War in which a clearly defined enemy (communist bogeymen) kept the nation on permanent alert and amenable to the powers of the time.

In today’s age of ‘permanent (verifiable) information’, Rumsfeld’s strategy is stillborn; however, of interest to analysts is the stubborn adherence to a failed (exposed) plan. Unlike Arab fighters who adapt at lightning speed and make a mockery of the world’s last ‘super’ (dream) power, the neo-cons are completely bereft and unable to adapt to the realities of the day. They compensate for their deficiencies by stubborn/manic pursuit of outmoded formulas in the hope that blind persistence becomes contagious – reality has never been affected by pretence or denial and failure to acknowledge this would indicate psychopathology (what’s new in Washington?)

Rumsfeld’s feeble attempt to deceive the public and to shift focus away from the present reign of murder, lies and terror that the US pursues was doomed from the start. The tactic of ‘renaming’ is also familiar to most as a corporate manager’s trick to justify their jobs. Fortunately for the future of America, a disillusioned population is aware that Rumsfeld’s sales strategy is just another ploy designed to engage and secure the involvement of a very reluctant nation.

Neo-con strategists have failed for a very simple reason; they subscribe to a defunct model. A short historical comparison would clarify this point:

Joseph Goebbles, master of modern propaganda, relied on the ‘single transmitter and a million receivers’ principle to successfully manipulate the German population; however, faced with today’s contemporary model of ‘millions of transmitters and millions of receivers’ (that the internet provides) it is highly unlikely that a shrewd Goebbels would have utilised an old paradigm to manipulate a modern nation.

Defunct methodologies notwithstanding, the American ultra-right constantly attempts to deceive the masses with precisely those worn-out methods, the 9/11 ‘attacks’; the ‘anthrax letters’ and the invasion of Iraq have all been exposed as orchestrated events. Also, the complicity of high-ranking members of the US executive is obviously indicated.

Modern strategists and propagandists ‘factor in’ the many independent media outlets and the blogosphere prior to releasing information – the reader would note the expertise that Arab terrorists possess in this regard. The partisan mass media is no longer believed when crucial issues confront modern society. Failure to recognise the far-reaching power (and speed) of the digital era of today would handicap any person or organisation that relies on public involvement or manipulation.

The Bush administration is the best example today of an organisation that has failed to address current trends and social levels of awareness. The ‘stakes’ have never been higher; today, leaders who fail to address the power of the free media are destined to be eliminated by it. It should be stressed that once a revolution occurs it cannot be reversed – I refer those who may think otherwise (neo-cons) to the historical record.

We are all living in revolutionary times, media ‘transmitter’ status has become an option available to millions – the final effect of this remains to be seen, however, it is exceedingly plain to see that those (Bush regime) that fail to adapt are dead!

The (dangerous) old men who rule the USA are aware that they are losing public support. Despite the many attempts to ‘tame’ the internet and curb the free flow of information, the net remains strong and vibrant – history dictates that once a media revolution occurs, any attempts to reverse the trend are doomed to failure. However, the real prospect of a final ‘death-throw’ from the sociopathic neo-cons remains the most dangerous threat the world faces. It would be preferable to arrest and bring those criminals to justice prior to a possible ‘detonation’ they may be planning – have no doubt that these men are insane.

The avalanche of compromising information against the Bush regime indicates that most of the regime would be lucky to evade long jail sentences in the near future. Desperate people resort to desperate measures (be warned). Failure to appreciate the present situation may prove to be extremely costly; however, failure to act would be disastrous.

We are One.
