CENSORSHIP in Oz: in your IT Face

It is astounding that commentators and IT media in Oz CONTINUE TO DESCRIBE Kevin Rudd’s brazen INTERNET CENSORSHIP policy as ‘filtering’ – prohibition of media information of any type is CENSORSHIP; get it straight and USE the appropriate and ACCURATE TERM! If it requires rubbing the ringed and stupefied noses of some Aussie dreamboats in the soiled fabric of our language to get the point home, then so be it!
Here’s some wiki/dictionary definitions of CENSOR/SHIP:
“Censorship is the suppression of [FREE] speech or deletion of communicative material …”
“A CENSOR is a person who examines all forms of communication for the singular purpose of SUPPRESSING and/or DELETING content ‘deemed’ to be 'politically' unsuitable.”
Have we got it now? If you oppose draconian CENSORSHIP please ‘lose’ the innocuous words “Filter” or “Filtering” and never forget the first casualty of WAR is language – all other travesties follow the abuse of language and meaning!
Need I remind the, “she’ll be right, mate,” Oz public of the CONSEQUENCES of allowing nations to legitimise terms such as “waterboarding” or “enhanced interrogation” – the USA is now the leading TORTURE APPLYING, CIVILIAN KILLING, TERRORIST nation in the World – a record which no doubt fills every ill-informed, information deprived, American with ‘pride!’
Perhaps we should also draw attention to the FACT -- spelt F-A-C-T, meaning a TRUTH expressed in REALITY -- that over 95% of Aussies DISAPPROVE of the Rudd government’s CENSORSHIP policy, which, nonetheless, is being shoved down the public throat via the LEGISLATIVE PROCESS! Did someone mention the WORD, D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y?
The question therefore arises, if the OVERWHELMING DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY oppose the plan then in whose INTEREST is KEVIN RUDD fervently toiling?? Shall we take a look at the short, but revealing, historical record for the very clear ANSWER?
Child porn on the net and I challenge the ‘average user’ -- the people Rudd would have us believe he is protecting -- to locate it. Sordid and illegal material is surreptitiously shared by perverts on the net via encrypted channels from secretive digital locations for obvious (arrest avoiding) reasons. However, X-Rated, 'butcher shop' (graphic) PORN -- a category Rudd chooses to IGNORE -- is easily accessed ON THE WEB (http-www) by CHILDREN clicking an ‘over 18’ (adult) clearance button; for Pete’s sake, who is Rudd trying to kid?
Furthermore, the primary excuse -- Child Porn -- offered by the Rudd government for introducing CENSORSHIP quickly expanded to include banning peer file sharing networks and a yet to be DEFINED, secretive “unwanted content” category, now re-branded as “Refused Classification!” Clearly, the ‘RC’ category is a strategy imposed by COMMERCIAL media INTERESTS to target (and suppress) Independent Media and the dissenting VOICE! Need I spell out the interests Rudd actually serves?
It is also noteworthy that the ‘new’ leader of the opposition party, Tony ‘people skills’ Abbott, has done nothing to date to support 95% of the AUSTRALIAN community AND OPPOSE Rudd’s DRACONIAN, undemocratic CENSORSHIP policy! It seems that both major political parties serve the same MINORITY interests! Who would have guessed?
An interesting reality presents itself; what is more obvious, Rudd’s election losing, TRANSPARENT attempt at regressive censorship or the fact that, as Tony Abbott clearly demonstrates, DEMOCRACY is dead in Australia! [VOTE INDEPENDENT in the UPPER AND LOWER HOUSES at the next election and teach the bastards a lesson they will never forget?]
I hope the above school teacher toned lesson EXPOSES Rudd’s CENSORSHIP strategy, ‘once and for all!’ It remains to be seen what position Abbott takes on the matter but it’s almost certain he will serve the same MINORITY interests as Rudd!
OVER 95% PUBLIC DISAPPROVAL SHOULD MAKE THE OUTCOME A CERTAINTY!
‘I love a sunburnt democracy
A land of political Lackeys!’
Oz mainstream journos - pathetic!
