Scandal and the status quo

Western societies have become active seekers of sensationalism and scandal to the extent that today scandal has become a component of political life, but not in the usual sense. Scandal is now deftly utilised by ad men, propagandists and consultants for purposes that are not immediately apparent. In an interesting inversion of usual effect, political scandal today actually assists those who are ‘scandalised!‘

Consider the numerous expose's and compromises that have ‘plagued’ the Bush regime. From the initial exposure of the WMD fabrication to today’s (NIE) intelligence reports contradicting Bush and Cheney’s lies regarding Iran. There have been so many expose's and scandals involving the Bush regime I have lost count. However, the one striking feature of all the media hype, chatter and ‘scandal’ is that NOTHING CHANGES; it’s full steam ahead for the neo-cons and the status quo!

Not one politician or adviser has been jailed for leading the nation into a war that has cost the lives of millions of innocents and cast America into the role of criminal aggressor NOT defender of the people! More civilians have now been killed as a consequence of America’s irresponsible invasion and occupation than during the previous “evil” dictatorship – it seems the ‘cure’ is worse than the disease.

Who has taken responsibility for the deaths of so many innocent civilians? Who has paid the price for the most heinous holocaust of the new century? If justice is not served then everyone who has not taken steps to ensure that justice is served in complicit in the crime. It’s onward criminal soldiers, vandalise, kill and steal!

The crimes of the Bush regime rate as vile as any in history but not a single petty official has been held to account! This is the REALITY behind the constant media chatter, accusations and scandal.

Today, scandal serves to distract, diffuse and neutralise potentially explosive and awkward situations for governments? The constant ‘application’ of scandal in the media intimating guilt is substituting for ACTUALISING guilt in the appropriate legal arena. One million dead Iraqi civilians; the torture of kidnapped suspects in secret detention centres and not one government official has been convicted to date!

A constant barrage of media scandal and a flood of information have deprived the public of VOLITION though the public domain overflows with incriminating EVIDENCE. Constant scandal and exposures saturate the mass media. Each new scandal distracts from the previous scandal and on it goes until the crowd learns that our leaders are a law unto themselves. The new propaganda methods of the 21st century teach us (unconsciously) that action against our leaders is futile! NOT ONE CULPABLE INDIVIDUAL HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO JUSTICE, NOT ONE!

Based on previous form the latest ‘furore’ surrounding destroyed CIA tapes and NIE reports contradicting Bush and Cheney will amount to nothing.

As expected both Cheney and Bush have OPENLY declared that nothing has changed in their position toward Iran. Military spokesperson, Lt. Gen. John Sattler, director for strategic plans and policy on the U.S. military’s Joint Staff also stated that nothing has changed. “There has been no course correction, slowdown, speedup given to us inside the Joint Staff, based on the NIE.” And that is that, sheeple!

Fortunately, the free world is not inclined to stupor or acquiescence; a Russian naval battle group is conducting ‘exercises’ in the Mediterranean while China and OPEC nations apply other pressures. The American media is ‘alive’ with nothing more substantive than media noise and static, so I guess it’s up to us!

The home of the brave and land of the free has been reduced to the home of trembling cowards and land of stunned cattle awaiting slaughter. If Americans are not up to the task then other more capable people will take the challenge, it’s only human nature!
