To Love

international / prose/poetry / literature

do you
know
what it’s like
just to love
without
the baggage of desire
like the measureless power
of giant rivers
returning
to the sea?

voluptuous, irresistible
emotion
pouring, flowing,
unrestrained
bleeding
for you alone
my entire life
departing from me into you
leaving me
a shell
completely vulnerable,
but intoxicated,
my essence bleeding
into the sky
like a crimson,
flaming sunset

do you know
what it’s
really like
to love somebody
without restraint
or anticipating
a return,
just giving
letting it all go?

[if i haven’t got you
there is no me.]

we were divided for love’s sake
one into two
forever seeking union
completion,
returning to one again;

was separation a bad joke
or a rare opportunity
accorded humanity
that allows us to reach sublime
heights --
which only love offers
the foolish and brave

who can say,
but on this plane
where life has been split
into polar opposites
we all seek reconciliation,
re-unification
and the peace
that comes from
union and release

only love
is able to supply the draught
that satiates
the insatiable longing,
satisfies the gnawing need,
and deliver us back
into the arms
of our creation and Perfection.
