Actions speak loudest

‘Things must change so that they can stay the same’ or ‘a change of leaders is the joy of fools.’ These two political statements are dynamically brought to the foreground when a change of national leadership occurs. In Australia all eyes are on the new leader, Kevin Rudd, and we sincerely hope the above cynical adages do not accurately portray him as just another face behind which the real rulers continue to machinate.

However, in the first week of Rudd’s ‘new’ leadership clear indications that the above adages are as accurate today as when they were first penned is evident. Rudd has closed his eyes to John Howard’s overt involvement in the crime of the century – the illegal invasion and subsequent holocaust in Iraq. Furthermore, previous indications that Rudd would investigate complicity and criminal collusion between Howard, his ministers and senior public servants have also been quietly abandoned. We refer to the Haneef case and the conscious surrender of the ‘Bali nine’ to foreign authorities. Both cases reek of collusion and criminal complicity; notwithstanding the position of AFP Chief has been severely compromised – do as Peter Costello did, Mick (Keelty) bow out while you have the chance; you know better than me who is ‘gunning’ for you!

Rudd’s decision to allow leaders of our security and regulatory agencies to retain their positions betrays his compliance and servile stance to exactly the same forces that dictated to Howard! Unfortunately, Kevin, you will live to regret backtracking on those issues, I would inform you now, it’s not the Libs who are your major concern in these matters. Australian State Institutions have been invested with powers to protect the State and its citizens; as yet they have not been divested of the powers necessary to pursue matters that compromise national security/integrity! However, you may wish to attack the foundation stones of our national democracy, Kevin – feel ‘free,’ George W Bush has shown you the way!

Enough for now, it’s early doors yet, but so far, SO BAD, Kevin -- all eyes remain on you, Mr. Rudd!
