Here's hoping Google gets hammered posted by James Kirby via sadh, 2009-05-31 01:21:48 It's a sad day when the battle for digital information is between two of the world's most obscene IT Companies, Microsoft and Google. Neither self-serving company has the interests of the public at heart, especially in China, and in the West if hidden information detailing Google's unsavoury relationship with NSA and other security agencies became known! Microsoft is no better having once supplied a 'backdoor' to its Operating System at the request of the NSA. Nevertheless, the stranglehold Google has on information is far worse than the author intimates -- any real democratic government would have legislated long ago forcing Google to relinquish its hold on information searches. Idiotic governments seem to be unaware of today's digital axioms: 'Whoever controls the flow of information rules the world', including governments! Let's hope the open source community gets a viable product out there soon -- then lobbying can begin in earnest! Ed. (full story) mass media / international
Swine Flu and draconian social bio-management policies posted by finch, 2009-05-29 23:29:16 Australia, in its role as a test site for the broader western world, is currently undergoing two major assaults on traditional freedoms – freedom of movement and association [now] threatened by swine flu bio-management policies; and freedom to access all available information via the internet. I need not remind readers whose interests are best served by these new laws/policies – not those of the democratic majority by any stretch of the Orwellian imagination! Obama attempts to fix gate AFTER ‘bull’ has bolted! posted by Kismo, 2009-05-29 09:41:16 Ya gotta hand it to those yankee doodle dunces; first, their unrestrained GREED outsources almost all banking and financial computer network maintenance and data processing to developing nations; second, local third party companies that employ citizens from marginal nations win contracts to maintain vital computer networks! After gifting the ‘family jewels’ to strangers yankee doodle dumbfucks wonder why security systems are so easily breached and vital networks so easily compromised. Well, doh! Washington Disinformation continues to emanate from subservient Australia! posted by quill, 2009-05-28 23:59:43 A well constructed report on the LTTE defeat by the Sri Lankan military was aired on Radio Australia today, a 7 out of 10 effort! It is refreshing to see Australia NOT making news for xenophobia, racism and its shameless, servility to the United States – ‘for a change!’ Nevertheless, America is never far removed from its most servile colony. Cyber Warfare: Building Attack Tools for Mass Destruction posted by Tom Burghardt via Kismo, 2009-05-28 10:25:04 A quintessential hallmark of an authoritarian regime, particularly one that operates within highly-militarized, though nominally democratic states such as ours, is the maintenance of a system of internal control; a seamless panopticon where dissent is equated with criminality and the rule of law derided as a luxury ill-afforded "during a time of war." The science of voodoo: When mind attacks body posted by Helen Pilcher via michael, 2009-05-28 09:18:17 "Don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see!" -- I was waiting for an opportunity to use that saying, which is an old Irish proverb, I am ‘led to believe!’ Now there’s a loaded expression that may not be as innocuous as you may think? An Australian [Racist] Story posted by peptide, 2009-05-27 21:51:11 Due to the increased number of students and immigrants to Australia from the Indian subcontinent and the (related) increase in racist attacks on Indians and Bangladeshis, senior police/government officials have been forced to fly to the subcontinent and deliver lectures on the best ways to avoid racist attacks in Australia! One wonders why prospective students and others coming to this Johnny Howard-revived, RACIST, xenophobic, parochial BACKWATER do not reconsider their options. It is clear by the approach the authorities are taking that racism is tolerated as a cultural characteristic! Australia is located at the ‘bottom of the world’ in more ways than one it would seem! SHAME on you and your cowardly, xenophobic, racist population, Australia! (full story) injustice/law / international
North Korea nuclear test: 'reality pill' required posted by yarra, 2009-05-26 22:50:10 As usual the U.S. disinfo-misinfo MYTH machine swung into full action after the recent North Korean nuclear test. The US immediately condemned the T-E-S-T stating that it was in flagrant violation of International Law – you know, that’s the ‘LAW’ the U.S. has flouted for the past decade! Over one million civilians killed directly or indirectly as a result of US MILITARY adventures in Iraq alone! Hundreds more INNOCENT civilians killed by DRONE ATTACKS in Central and South Asia and of course the ACTION that started it all, the U.S. led Balkan intervention and THEFT of European SOVEREIGN territory! That’s ‘observing’ International Law for ya! [God forbid the mention of TORTURE!] (full story and 1 comments) injustice/law / international

Success beyond our wildest expectations! posted by cleaves, 2009-05-24 05:57:22 In December of ’04 a small group of poets, philosophers, linguists, historians, meditation/yoga experts, mathematicians and computer hackers, came together to work on a revolutionary new project. The radical nature of the project attracted sneers and condemnation from many at the time. Nevertheless, it was eventually approved, funded and given external assistance whenever the group required. America's Nightmare: The Obama Dystopia posted by Andrew Hughes via rialator, 2009-05-23 22:02:00 After 8 years of the Bush-Cheney nightmare during which we saw the wanton destruction of Afghanistan and Iraq, the cynical negation of centuries of Law designed to protect the most basic human rights and a foreign policy worthy of Genghis Khan, there came along the "Great Black Hope" in the persona of Barack Obama. The collective world consciousness turned uncritically to what was presented as a new era for peace, change and trust in Government. (full story and 1 comments) injustice/law / international
