A rare commodity indeed but rarer are those who sing the eternal song, the verses of which are imparted, never learnt! Following is an anecdote that may satisfy the mind and appease the need… (full story)

Saddam defeats Bush from grave posted by yarra, 2008-01-01 08:14:47
What to do with a living president defeated by a dead dictator?

I will never forget the rallying call Saddam made prior to his arranged execution; his final command to the nation was to fight a classic guerrilla war of attrition and draw the American elephant into a quagmire where it could EASILY be DEFEATED. He promised victory if the people persevered and he was right. However, Saddam’s ranting was more a manifestation of bravado and personal rage than directives to a people that hated his guts! Chevron's Condi A Quechua Christmas Story posted by Greg Palast via reed, 2007-12-31 16:12:15
And [Professor] Doctor Correa is one tough character. He told George Bush to take the US military base and stick it where the equatorial sun don’t shine. He told the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which held Ecuador’s finances by the throat, to go to hell. He ripped up the “agreements” which his predecessors had signed at financial gun point. He told the Miami bond vultures that were charging Ecuador usurious interest, to eat their bonds. He said ‘We are not going to pay off this debt with the hunger of our people. ” Food first, interest later. Much later. And he meant it. (full story)

Authorities desperate to stigmatise Hicks posted by nano, 2007-12-31 09:12:34
The South Australian Premier, Mike Rann, is best known for his corrupt complicity in allowing BHP Billiton to extract -- FREE OF CHARGE -- millions of litres (per day) of precious drinking water from OUR artesian basin. One can only imagine the amount or ‘incentives’ offered this ‘honourable’ politician for the privilege! A man with no moral fibre is in no position to judge or demand apologies from anyone, especially victims of torture. (full story and 1 comments)

Mike 'gung fuckin ho' Vickers Sorry, Charlie. This Is Michael Vickers's War posted by Ann Scott Tyson via rialator, 2007-12-30 17:26:45
In the Pentagon's newly expanded Special Operations office, a suite of sterile gray cubicles on the "C" ring of the third floor, Assistant Secretary of Defense Michael G. Vickers is working to implement the U.S. military's highest-priority plan: a global campaign against terrorism that reaches far beyond Iraq and Afghanistan. (full story and 2 comments)

Rudd Labor Government Communications Minister Conroy opts for Orwellian option posted by jack, 2007-12-30 13:42:29
If nothing else Senator Conroy’s decision to take the matter out of the hands of users and filter internet content at provider (ISP) level confirms that both major political parties are subject to the same ruling interests. After vigorous opposition from the public the previous conservative government chose to offer filtering software for users to install at their discretion – the FREEDOM to CHOOSE is the crux of the matter! Brendan Nelson Put them all up against a wall … posted by major mitchell, 2007-12-30 08:51:57
Every housewife knows the principle of the purchase ie, buy the best item for the best price. However, this fundamental principle is lost on Australian conservatives in desperate need of an authority figure. The need for paternalistic authority in conservatives outweighs common sense. Brendan ‘studs’ Nelson, short-lived leader of the opposition and previous Australian Defence Minister, made the most gullible and totally inappropriate military hardware purchase (from daddy America) in living memory – probably in the nation’s short history if the historical record is taken into account -- well done ‘studs,’ you conservative, lackey, clown! David Hicks and ‘Freedom’ posted by col, 2007-12-29 07:58:55
David Hicks walked ‘free’ from Yatala high security prison yesterday but freedom is a very ambiguous term and an extremely elusive state. Hicks is discovering, after his release, that prison walls are not necessarily physical. After suffering five years of the most insidious, horrendous, psychological and physical TORTURE at the Guantanamo Bay torture facility, David Hicks could in no way be described as ‘free.’ He will carry the scars left by Guantanamo for the rest of his life – psychologically Hicks remains incarcerated. However, he need not remain a mental cripple, many have survived torture to live and ‘fight’ again. (full story and 1 comments)

Jack Kennedy Bhutto assassination update! posted by gill, 2007-12-28 08:48:41
Pakistan’s interior ministry is in frantic damage control in the wake of Benazir Bhutto's assassination. In a futile attempt to extinguish the flames of rebellion, the interior ministry today claimed that Benazir Bhutto died as a result of bumping her head on the roof of the vehicle in which she was travelling. They also claimed that no bullet or shrapnel wounds were found on her body! ‘No doubt,’ and I had breakfast with John F Kennedy -- he was shot with a bullet that could turn corners! Rebel groups and double standards highlight lawless world posted by dingo, 2007-12-25 09:05:00
Incessantly accusing Bush and his neo-cons of war crimes is clearly counter-productive. He has been comprehensively exposed for the WMD fraud and numerous other crimes. His actions have resulted in a human holocaust -- over one million innocent lives lost in Iraq yet international authorities and the public could care less. OUR complacency and INACTION give license to Bush and his ilk to pursue their crimes with vigour; it's open slather on just about everything – and don’t they, the powers, know it! (full story)

Linguistic somersaults indicate extremely sick U.S. Economy posted by Kingfisher, 2007-12-24 10:58:58
Previous articles have drawn attention to linguistic tricks stock markets employ to deceive the public. On a specified day “selling” became ‘profit taking,’ a highly inaccurate and misleading term as selling incurs both profit and loss – but don’t alarm (sheeple) investors for Christ’s sake! Today’s sub-prime, circular credit markets have taken a very dangerous linguistic turn toward even greater DENIAL, which is symptomatic of the disease not the cure. The latest divorced from reality market expression saturating the mass media is, “write-down,” which actually means LOSS! The following headline from Marketwatch is typical: (full story)
