'Legal' farce against Pfc Bradley Manning continues posted by staff report via gan, 2012-06-09 01:42:10 The railroading of Bradley Manning by the criminal Pentagon continues unabated. Application for dismissal of a number of charges was denied by a very partial military Judge on Friday. It's full speed ahead with Manning's crucifixion. (full story) injustice/law / international

US military suicides average one per day posted by Jonathan Terbush via stan, 2012-06-08 10:44:15 The principal cause of military suicides is 'burnout;' a term used to cover a multitude of causes, not least among them is fighting illegal, dishonorable, Corporate wars for profit against innocent people. As the jarring contradiction between military indoctrination and the sordid reality on the ground hits home, troops resort more and more to booze, narcotics and amphetamines in futile attempts to avoid facing responsibility for murdering civilians and fighting gangster wars of Corporate appropriation. But as we all know avoidance tactics only delay the inevitable, overwhelming crisis.
It is important to place Pfc Bradley Manning in this context; this brave young soldier is not only doing his comrades a service by exposing Pentagon war crimes, he is FIGHTING overwhelming odds against an inherently corrupt criminal system that cares not for honor, justice and the moral right, but serves the interests of criminal Corporate elites -- isn't that right, Mr Dick 'KBR' Cheney? Panetta: US "reaching the limits of its patience" - O, really? posted by gan, 2012-06-07 10:34:56 The latest demented American dunce to stick his moronic boot in his imbecilic mouth is Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta. Former CIA boss Panetta represents a known lawless nation run by murdering and thieving criminals -- the USA is the world's leading civilian killing nation, approx 5 million murdered since Vietnam; it is also the world's leading invading and occupying nation that specializes in resource theft and assassinating leaders that oppose its imperial designs/policies of appropriating the resources of weaker nations. It has even taken to oppressing its own population with constant surveillance, new draconian indefinite detention 'laws' and military policing. (full story and 1 comments) imperialism / international

U.S. Rejected 2005 Iranian Offer Ensuring No Nuclear Weapons posted by Gareth Porter via reed, 2012-06-06 12:35:30 WASHINGTON, Jun 5, 2012 (IPS) - France and Germany were prepared in spring 2005 to negotiate on an Iranian proposal to convert all of its enriched uranium to fuel rods, making it impossible to use it for nuclear weapons, but Britain vetoed the deal at the insistence of the United States, according to a new account by a former top Iranian nuclear negotiator. Bradley Manning Trial -- clear case of Conflict of Interests posted by judd, 2012-06-06 12:23:15 The first thing that strikes those following the Bradley Manning case is the clear case of conflict of interests. It is the military that stands accused of war crimes via evidence that Bradley Manning allegedly supplied to WikiLeaks. Obviously the accused military cannot sit in judgement of the alleged facilitator (Manning) to the accuser, WikiLeaks. In the interests of a fair trial Manning's case must be heard independently, outside the sphere of military influence. Numerous courts in the country are able to hear this case. Manning's lawyers have not taken a vigorous enough stand and DEMANDED that the case be heard by an independent, non-military court. (full story and 1 comments) injustice/law / international
Financial Collapse Inevitable -- when is sooner or later? posted by Dr. Paul Craig Roberts via judd, 2012-06-06 01:32:07 Ever since the beginning of the financial crisis and Quantitative Easing, the question has been before us: How can the Federal Reserve maintain zero interest rates for banks and negative real interest rates for savers and bond holders when the US government is adding $1.5 trillion to the national debt every year via its budget deficits? Not long ago the Fed announced that it was going to continue this policy for another 2 or 3 years. Indeed, the Fed is locked into the policy. Without the artificially low interest rates, the debt service on the national debt would be so large that it would raise questions about the US Treasury’s credit rating and the viability of the dollar, and the trillions of dollars in Interest Rate Swaps and other derivatives would come unglued. Western Banks 'Reaping Billions from Colombian Cocaine Trade' posted by Ed Vulliamy via reed, 2012-06-06 01:02:39 The vast profits made from drug production and trafficking are overwhelmingly reaped in rich "consuming" countries – principally across Europe and in the US – rather than war-torn "producing" nations such as Colombia and Mexico, new research has revealed. And its authors claim that financial regulators in the west are reluctant to go after western banks in pursuit of the massive amount of drug money being laundered through their systems. Frustrated Failed Revolutionaries: The Assange Cypherpunks posted by finn, 2012-06-05 13:21:06 Sometimes the secondary unstated discourse offers more detailed and revealing information than the articulated or overt primary discourse – this was certainly the case in Assange’s latest RT interviews with ‘Cypherpunk’ geeks and friends; but prior to deconstructing that gem of a semiotic treat, allow me to clarify a few points about TODAY’S digital underground. Diminutive Poof, Bradley Manning, teaches American 'he-men' Honour and Character posted by Ed Pilkington via dorothy, 2012-06-04 14:02:00 Homosexual soldier, prisoner of conscience and social hero, Bradley Manning, continues to compromise the US military as each day passes. The depths to which the Pentagon has sunk in order to railroad Manning promises to leave an indelible stain on the US military forever; the criminal Pentagon simply CANNOT survive this case in any moral, legal or civilised context.
