Torture remains illegal under international law but America has flouted international law and convention on so many occasions it is no surprise it attempts to justify the use of TORTURE today. The CIA finally admits utilising torture on "three" separate occasions, give us a break! ‘Waterboarding,’ a euphemism for administered slow drowning, is not new to the USA. We can safely add at least two zeros to that hysterically absurd CIA figure. American Nazi torturers may have finally learnt what any good book on the subject or an interview with torture victims would have revealed -- ‘information extracted under torture conforms to the torturer's wishes!’ Accuracy has little bearing on information torturers wish to hear – though it is common for torturers to confuse wish-fulfilment with accuracy! Mike Whitney’s articles are always insightful and entertaining though some titles could do with a little modification. We are always happy for his work to be included in our “other press” section; however, his latest effort begs additional analysis. We would be pleased if he or others familiar with the subject would contribute additional information and pursue their analysis and deductions to logical conclusions.
An obvious question is why should Gulf States compromise their own economies and acquiesce to Bush’s ultimatum if Russian Naval and Air Power in the region are poised for action? Neither Israel nor the USA is in a position to declare war on the entire region. Any such action would inevitably involve Russia and China – so let’s hear it from the informed experts! Ed. While the European Union and the US, have acknowledged that they would be "opposed" to a " unilateral" declaration of independence of Kosovo, the secession of Kosovo from Serbia is already de facto. Today’s governments are noted for the contempt they display toward the people. Nations that once held democratic values in the highest regard have succumbed to nasty totalitarian expediencies. Totalitarian nations continue to treat their people harshly and with little tolerance for personal freedoms. Former democratic nations and successful totalitarian nations are undergoing an ideological convergence. Regardless of ideology, however, it is always THE PEOPLE THAT PAY THE PRICE FOR THE INEPTITUDES AND FAILINGS OF THEIR LEADERS. Well, we have had enough, its time for EVERYONE to accept responsibility for their own actions -- that includes Bank Executives, Company CEOs, Financiers, and our politicians.

The clueless, “mission accomplished” president of the U.S.Aaaay was greeted with a standing ovation from Congress, unrestrained cheers and acclamations reaching to the rafters but the delusory, obviously strained overkill betrayed the PANIC of (crashing) reality. What has the Bush administration done right, name one Goddamn thing, to put it in the American idiom! It is useful to have the world’s economic leaders and private sector financial ‘geniuses’ together for a summit – we could have bombed them for causing so much misery around the globe! The prognosis from these economic vandals is more gloom, they ought to know they created the situation – don’t you just love the inverted insanity of it all?
