Bought American Senators vote down bill to audit the Fed posted by sol, 2010-05-11 21:00:27 The most powerful and secretive PRIVATE BANK in the world has succeeded in defeating a bill that would have REVEALED its monetary dealings – what does this PRIVATE consortium have to hide from the people? There is no doubt whatsoever that FULL DISCLOSURE of monetary policy is required of a BANK that pretends to be a Federal Institution! The private lobbyist coup against an audit becomes yet another nail in the coffin of American democracy. The take-over of American government by PRIVATE CORPORATE interests is almost COMPLETE. The USA is now a CONFIRMED CORPORATE (therefore fascist) STATE – it offers a heinous, criminal track record as proof of the FACT! (full story) social/political / international

What's in a Word? posted by Pierre Tristam via quill, 2010-05-11 07:03:51 The Pew Research Center for the People and the Press just released a survey testing reactions to political rhetoric—whether people react positively or negatively to words like “progressive” or “socialism” or phrases like “states’ rights” or “civil liberties.” The results were not surprising in some regards. Say the phrases “civil rights,” “civil liberties” and “states’ rights,” and between 87 percent and 77 percent of people respond positively. Even the word “progressive,” which the right-wing machinery on Fox and friends is doing its best to turn into a slander, gets a 68 percent positive response, including 56 percent of Republicans. Iraq: an American ‘Success’ Story posted by Al, 2010-05-10 23:45:53 Iraq is an excellent example of American ‘success,’ knowhow and ‘genius,’ is it not? Afghanistan is proving a better example still! These two screaming, REAL LIFE examples of American incompetence, ineptitude, overt flouting of international law and human rights, just won’t fade into the background. Almost daily the newswires contain more horrid examples of civilian killing by Americans and the MASSIVE DESTABILISATION that ensues. The ‘stability, liberty and democracy’ that America promised Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan AND the WORLD, is proving to be a very bitter experience for the innocent civilians of Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Take a quick squiz at the REALITY today and VERIFY the truth for yourself. (full story and 3 comments) social/political / international
Failure by Conscious Design: Private Banking posted by cleaves, 2010-05-08 23:57:41 The masses sometimes remind me of a woman I once knew; completely oppressed/stifled by her current relationship and living conditions but unable to face the uncertainty and challenge of breaking FREE! Don’t we all know it to a greater or lesser extent? Gender really has nothing to do with our internal contradictions, fears and the uncertainty of facing the unknown. Nevertheless, how does this analogy of human emotions relate to the forced failure of the (criminal) PRIVATE banking/financial system? (full story) social/political / international
Oz: Burqa bullshit posted by dasha, 2010-05-07 11:02:30 An ‘Australian’ politician of Italian fascist background (great qualifications) has made international headlines by raising the racist spectre once again; notwithstanding from behind the ‘veil’ of national identity! According to Senator Cory Bernardi, wearing a ‘barfa’ "is un-Australian” – here we go again. Another idiot that thinks he has a copyright definition on what it is to be ‘Stralyan’ – a whop clown pontificating from the political, suck my American arse, capital, Canberra. Well he’d know, wouldn’t he? (full story) social equality/unity / international

Oil Companies: All profit NO disaster Contingencies posted by teale, 2010-04-30 21:31:26 Have we got the picture yet, regarding off-shore oil platforms and their obvious lack of contingency plans in the event of disastrous spills? Oz had a catastrophic explosion and fire on an off-shore rig that spilled thousands of tonnes of oil into pristine seas off Western Australia -- the State that is run by Transnational mining and gas/oil Corporations.
