Oz Federal Cop targets Academic Inaccuracies posted by budgie, 2007-07-01 16:03:37 A study which cost Australian taxpayers $200,000 by way of an academic grant, was duly trounced as hysterical and misleading (inferred) by the good ‘horse sense’ of Federal Police Chief Mick Keelty. The study makes imaginative claims of local 'terrorist activity' and utilises abstract and ambiguous terminology such as, "ideological sleeper cells" – by definition everyone is an 'ideological sleeper' as we are all prone to change our minds at any given time. Loan defaults escalating: Big Finance and governments Responsible posted by finch, 2007-06-28 14:24:51 Many articles have been written on the tactic of pervasive and continuous debt as a form of economic social management. However, few financial ‘wizards’ and politicians understood the ramifications of such a tactic. To meet regular needs average people have been forced to borrow at rates never before seen. As a result of the created necessity to borrow large amounts and the ease of obtaining large loans, a rapid increase in loan defaults is occurring. Perhaps statistical information on the ‘spike’ in long term debt servicing and mortgagee defaults highlights the failure of the debt strategy. Hailed at the time as the optimum method of economic and social management, today it is proving to be just another strategy of big business appropriating more at the expense of EVERYTHING and everyone else. Mind Slaves of Our Time posted by fish, 2007-06-23 13:08:28 The title suggests the sci-fi genre or the paranoid delusions of conspiracy theorists; surely it couldn’t be possible that millions of people today are slaves to particular worldviews formulated by men in the distant past. Views that enslave, terrorise and create a subservient population. Intolerant views that challenge refutation with physical and psychological violence. Preposterous views that cripple the reasoning faculties and the intellect -- men flying and living inside whales, materialisations, stories relating to sociopathic, blood lusting, faecal-eating Gods.
Prior to the last reference most would have already guessed religion as the most likely pathogen responsible for most of today’s social ills. (full story and 1 comments) social equality/unity / international
Social Mystery posted by harely quin, 2007-06-08 11:48:47 The masses are considered to be moronic by political strategists and analysts of almost every persuasion and it’s easy to understand why. In full view of EXPOSED criminal governments, wholesale plunder, global exploitation, outrageous ‘salary’ contracts (hundreds of millions for corporate directors) the people, the herd, the sheep, the slaves, the ‘work force’ -- or whatever other fitting derogatory description you care to make -- sit in their socially underprivileged spaces eating ‘shit’, relatively speaking! In no way or by any stretch of the human imagination is a person who earns 100K/annum hundreds of thousands of times the inferior of a person who earns tens or hundreds of millions per year – that is patently obvious YET the sheeple tolerate that inequity and much more. Holocaust Iraq: An inconvenient Truth posted by fish, 2007-05-21 22:55:16 Today, the American public is no longer able to claim ignorance over the real cost of filling their SUVs with gas nor are they able to deny their status as a hypocritical, ungodly, pariah nation. Few people anywhere are unaware of America’s dirty little grab for the resources of weaker nations. For every full tank of gas INNOCENT human blood has been spilt, particularly the blood of those least able to defend themselves, CHILDREN. When faced with undeniable and unpleasant realities Americans seek refuge in the unreality of their televisions or other distracting entertainments. The cost of the American lifestyle today is served to local populations for breakfast, however, the media is careful to neatly package all distasteful material in justifications, propaganda and flagrant lies (that have no currency anywhere but America). What’s So Funny about Peace, Love and Understanding? posted by Elizabeth DiNovella via rialator, 2007-05-12 23:10:08 When it was announced that the Dalai Lama was coming to Madison in May, a few of my friends snatched up the pricey tickets right away. I had heard the Dalai Lama speak five years ago during his last visit, and it was so difficult to hear him that I decided to stay out of the ticket-buying frenzy this time around. But when a friend of mine (a Maoist no less!) called me last Friday morning to offer me free tickets to the public talk that afternoon, I couldn’t resist. Racist Prime Minister of Oz sinks to new Low posted by barra, 2007-04-10 14:00:17 The Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, has come out in support of a known public toilet loitering homosexual racist. Alan Jones, a controversial toilet loiterer and talkback radio host was recently found to be in breach of the broadcasting code. Another dubious and prominent character, John Singleton, known for his past links with Heroin importing former grade footballers and the CIA Nugan Hand Bank, has also expressed his support for the toilet-loitering, sexual deviant broadcaster. [I do not wish to labour a point but Jones was arrested and charged in London with two counts of “outraging public decency by behaving in an indecent manner under the Westminster by-laws”.] (full story and 2 comments) social equality/unity / national
A Handful of Lunatics posted by nano, 2007-01-20 18:05:31 As the world races to nuclear confrontation in the Middle East the mass media is remarkably quiet on the topic. What is the latest news from the Persian Gulf? Confirmation of the reported build-up of Iranian troops on the Iraqi border required. Kurdish, Turkish and U.S. troop movements are strangely omitted from popular newswires. Follow-up coverage is a thing of the past, what is the latest from the Chinese leadership? THE PUBLIC DEMAND TO BE INFORMED AS IT IS THE PUBLIC WHO WILL DO THE DYING! (full story) social equality/unity / international
Bush Challenges Opposition -- A Response! posted by Cleaves Editorial Team, 2007-01-13 10:53:00 In his daily radio address, George W Bush challenged those who oppose his insane route to oblivion, to ‘put up or shut up’. “To oppose everything while proposing nothing is irresponsible," he said, “offer an alternative”. In view of the fact that U.S. Democrats are unable to effectively deal with the situation, we formally and directly accept this challenge and remind Bush that we are aware that this response will be read by him and his neo-cons; indeed, we have been aware for some time that Bush is a regular reader of this site as indeed is Rice and others. There is no avoiding this response! (full story and 2 comments) social equality/unity / editorial
Apocalypto: The Cinematic Logic of Genocide posted by Juan Santos via rialator, 2006-12-18 08:39:22 Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto is not a mere adventure tale, it’s not just another excruciatingly brutal portrayal of apocalyptic violence for its own sake, and the Village Voice is dead wrong when it says that unlike Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto is “unburdened by nationalist or religious piety,” — that it's “pure, amoral sensationalism.” (full story) social equality/unity / international
Divisionism is Death posted by finch, 2006-09-20 06:52:53 A well-known method of subjugation utilised by conquerors and rulers alike is, “divide and conquer”; this strategy applies equally in times of war and peace. It may surprise many but this method remains the principal means of social control in today’s western societies. The primary divisive structure today is the (separate, ‘closed-door’) nuclear family and the principal divided unit is the psychically isolated, competitive individual. [It should be noted that the ‘individual’, as distinct from the group, is a relatively recent social creation.] (full story) social equality/unity / international
National Identity Crisis posted by dingo, 2006-09-17 05:43:25 Australia takes the idiot news of the week award once again. ‘Onya Oz for not laughing the Prime Minister, John Howard, and the imbecile leader of the opposition, Kim Beazley, out of Parliament and office for their ridiculous and illogical attempts to gain political advantage by exploiting the underlying racism and cringe mentality in the local ‘culture’. The Concept of Innocence in Today’s World posted by finch, 2006-07-17 19:20:00 This short paper does not pretend to a thorough analysis, however, it is hoped that the few indications would suffice both to verify assertions and to indicate a rich direction for further research.
Innocence implies a lack of guilt or blamelessness; the images humans readily associate with the concept of innocence are those of infants, suckling babes, children and the newborn. A species tends to identify and place value on itself. In contrast to instinctive emotions we have the superimposition of cultural values/demands. Religion is the traditional repository and medium of constructed/cultural values. A cursory analysis would reveal that cultural values are not usually compatible with strong instinctive emotions. The value placed on the lives of defenceless children, infants and the newborn will be the criteria utilised to easily prove our assertions. A Preponderance of Rosas posted by Inana, 2006-07-04 22:48:28 This piece was prompted by an image of the 'Rosa Cherie' published in the Guardian International Newspaper a couple of weeks ago.
It indicated a full colour photograph of the Rosa Cherie, a new hybrid developed for the Birmingham flower show that looked like a vulva. It was juxtaposed with an image of a mitre, indicating the ongoing Episcopalian schism over a female bishopric.
Cherie Blair was photographed veiled and in conversation with Benedict the 16th precisely a week before, to discuss the decline in the European birth Rate. At the time of seeing both these images and the positioning of this woman as some sort of a Rosa Mundi, an example to western women of the stability of the capitalist ethos, in the light of her spouse prosecuting an illegal war against a soverign nation and giving conscience and voice to U.S imperialism, I felt the need to protest.
