Increasingly ominous clouds are gathering in what could soon be the perfect storm against the United States dollar and against the present dollar-centric global financial order.
This is not shaping up to be a storm that anyone is trying to initiate, not even those who are actively driving for a new global financial order that is no longer centered on the dollar. Instead, it will result from a correlation of forces arising out of the deepening global financial and economic crises, coupled with recurring and conspicuous miscalculation on the part of some of the world's political, financial and economic leaders. In Africa, the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague is considered by many to be a Western kangaroo court set up to hound, jail and silence African and Third world leaders who refuse to submit to the grip of Western hegemony and domination. The court's recent indictment of President Omar al Bashir of Sudan, has only provided more evidence to give credence to this view. (full story)

This is crazy! Forget the bleating of Rush Limbaugh; the problem is not with the quite reasonable and, if anything, underfunded stimulus package, which in any case will be debated long and hard in Congress. The problem is with what is not being debated: the far more expensive Wall Street bailout that is being pushed through--as in the case of the latest AIG rescue--in secret, hurried deal-making primarily by the unelected secretary of the treasury and the chairman of the Federal Reserve. Now dated official reports from the Lancet and Johns Hopkins conservatively put the figures of murdered at over half a million! Speaking out now (far too late) after major crimes against humanity have been committed in plain view, one can only but ask, 'is late better than never' when time is measured in (over one million INNOCENT) human lives?
The world's legal and humanitarian institutions have FAILED us all. For shame! You have failed not only the people you are committed to protect but your reason for being. Do you NOW feel that it may be appropriate to hold the culpable to account? The entire world is aware of your miserable failures -- do something right, for Christ's sake! China has questioned the “legitimacy” of the ICC immediately after it issued a warrant for the arrest of the President of Sudan, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. The ‘legitimacy’ of the court is in question due to its flagrant PARTIALITY -- we haven’t heard a peep from the ICC regarding warrants and charges against American or Israeli war criminals to date! And that is not for lack of EVIDENCE, which is freely available in the PUBLIC DOMAIN, notwithstanding the compromising public admissions (relating to torture) made on national television by former VP, Dick Cheney! Is it possible that ICC (and UN) investigators are so blind or incompetent? Highly unlikely! OR IS THE COURT A BRAZENLY BIASED INSTITUTION OF POLITICAL CONVENIENCE AND THEREFORE LEGALLY ILLEGITIMATE in every sense of the word? (full story)

Riots swept across Eastern Europe this winter. In Latvia 100 were arrested when they attacked the Finance Ministry with cobblestones from the quaintly restored tourist area protesting unemployment, budget and wage cuts. In Lithuania, riot police fired rubber-bullets and tear gas on a trade union march. A demonstration in the Bulgarian capital turned violent leading to the arrest of 150 protesters. These three states are all members of the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM2), the euro’s pre-detention cell. They must join. (full story)
