APEC Chess, your move! posted by Captain, 2007-09-08 16:40:59 As is usual in political summits it is that which remains unsaid that delivers the ‘loudest’ message. The absurdity of it all is verified by the FACT that we live in absurd times! Ignoring the usual dull business deals of uranium, gas, various other resource sales and especially the ridiculous pretence of ecological concern sold to the public as “aspirational” pollution reduction goals (bunk) we couldn’t help but notice, with some mirth, new ‘temperate’ war strategies occurring among the superpowers. APEC: Sydney’s message to the World, “STOP BUSH!” posted by Kingfisher, 2007-09-07 13:38:05 Sydney has sent a clear and hopeful message to the world during the APEC summit. Today, amid unprecedented police presence (oppression) and draconian tactics, usually characteristic of dictatorships, the people of AUSTRALIA demonstrated in steel-fenced Sydney and made known their sentiments regarding war crimes and terrorist States. The peaceful “STOP BUSH” march in Sydney has shamed the police state tactics of John Howard’s conservatives and Premier Iemma’s fascist ‘blue shirts.‘ (full story) peace/war / international
Only in Australia: APEC ‘security’ easily breached posted by barra, 2007-09-06 12:57:36 Following the embarrassing oversight of NOT securing the foyer of the InterContinental Hotel during Bush’s arrival – two unauthorised civilians were found to be in immediate proximity to Bush as he entered the Hotel – came the very bold, extremely brazen, larrikin demonstration of how easily two hundred million dollar security arrangements could be breached. Phase III of Bush's War posted by Pat Buchanan via rialator, 2007-09-05 11:43:10 If you ever doubted the destructive and paralysing power of DISUNITY, read on! For the want of a modicum of commitment a world was plunged into chaos and conflict. This message is not for our 'leaders' it is for the people who are able to override any government on the planet if they so wish!
None of us need to learn that principles of harmony, peace and UNITY offer our only chance for survival on this planet. The brutish logic of beasts, 'might is right,' would result in annihilation in today's world. If you doubt it remain divided, powerless and alienated and watch social conditions continue to deteriorate worldwide!

Farcical Democracy in Howard’s Australia posted by fish, 2007-09-04 17:41:37 Something is drastically wrong with Australia! The arrival last night of President Bush’s travelling circus in Sydney for the APEC leaders summit aptly demonstrated that ‘anti-terrorist’ laws introduced by the Howard government are being utilised against local populations – some have argued the draconian ‘new sweeping terrorist laws’ were originally intended for precisely that purpose! The dickhead and his whore have landed posted by finch, 2007-09-03 23:53:44 One look at the opulence and extravagance of Bush and his war whore companion Condoleezza Rice arriving in Sydney in a fleet of 747s while the NZ Prime Minister and other APEC leaders arrive by commercial airliners removes all doubts regarding whether or not two hundred million (plus) of taxpayer’s dollars has been well spent. One is sickened by Bush’s extravagance and waste, not to mention the carbon footprint of the world's biggest waste maker and polluter! (full story and 1 comments) imperialism / international
Pets, Twats and Fallacies posted by Captain, 2007-09-03 01:53:03 The pet section of this paper deals with my dog called “dog” my cat called “cat” and my pet budgie called “Frederick the Great,” so ends the pet section! The twat section could go on forever as female anatomy has always fascinated me but space limits my discourse to ‘how sweet it could be,’ so ends the twat section. The fallacy section is extremely popular these days in fact the world is running on fallacies; never before have so many people tolerated so much bullshit! "So much damage has been done" posted by P.M. Carpenter via reed, 2007-09-02 22:47:46 Compared to all the truly gargantuan troubles brought down on us by the Bush administration -- two incomprehensibly executed wars; a hopelessly broken military; fiscal policies that make the subprime industry look thoughtful; the utterly unaddressed baby-boomer boomerang; a string of constitutional and other crises -- this is a relatively minor story. Yet it lays bare, in microcosmic form, the Bushies' macrocosmic traits: favoritism, incompetence, bullying, buck-passing, malfeasance, negligence, blindness, stubbornness, recklessness, deceit, distortion, laissez-faire lassitude and free-market fundamentalism. In short, boneheaded madness. (full story) social/political / international
The Next Quagmire posted by Chris Hedges via rialator, 2007-09-02 22:18:34 The most effective diplomats, like the most effective intelligence officers and foreign correspondents, possess empathy. They have the intellectual, cultural and linguistic literacy to get inside the heads of those they must analyze or cover. They know the vast array of historical, religious, economic and cultural antecedents that go into making up decisions and reactions. And because of this—endowed with the ability to communicate and more able to find ways of resolving conflicts through diplomacy—they are less prone to blunders. America continues to bully Oz into weapons purchases posted by dingo, 2007-09-02 11:57:51 The industrial military complex of the USA MUST purge itself of redundant weaponry, as it produces increased amounts of newer systems. Who better to dump outmoded stock onto than the lackey, subservient nation of Australia? The combination of U.S. slave Prime Minister John Howard and Defence Minister, Brendan ‘studs’ Nelson, offers no resistance to American dictates whatsoever. APEC and eleven years of Australian Conservatism posted by gan, 2007-09-01 14:43:30 Prior to commencing this short discourse I would expose a major Howard government lie that Australia was a terrorist target before Howard’s slavish compliance to U.S. dictates. It is a simple matter of citing our regional neighbour, New Zealand, as a non (terrorist) target that labels Howard a LIAR! New Zealand has maintained her sovereignty and neutrality in stark contrast to the cowardly position of Howard's Australia! (full story) social/political / international
Kosovo ‘elections’: unsubtle Attack on Serbian Sovereignty posted by dusan, 2007-08-31 14:10:50 The military elephant of the world and its allies seem unsatisfied with fragmenting Yugoslavia into numerous ineffective, weak, dependent sub-nations; now they wish to fragment the fragments. How many times over centuries of Balkan history have the Serbian people endured victimisation, oppression, genocidal slaughter from powerful, invading or meddling nations and how many times have the Serbian people prevailed over their enemies? Binary Logic and Religious Art posted by yona, 2007-08-30 23:48:35 We can be sure that wherever religion rears its moronic, murderous, hypocritical head – the simplicity of binary logic accompanies. The National Art School in Darlinghurst Sydney is presently exhibiting entries in the Blake Religious Art competition. We had hoped that entires would create enlightened debate and fracture ignorant views/realities, however, the Art competition quickly descended into George Bush binary logic of good and evil, with us or with the terrorists (bullshit). Equine Flu virus sets terrorist agenda for APEC posted by morgan, 2007-08-30 13:51:14 The incredible speed at which the highly contagious equine flu virus has infected the local horse population and the huge negative impact this infection has had has not gone unnoticed by non-state terrorist groups at war with state terrorists. An anonymous report earlier this week (see link) warned of the release of a virulent pathogen during the APEC summit. All security and other preparations, funded by the Australian taxpayer, would have been to no avail if such an attack were to occur in Sydney. (full story) social/political / international
Bleeding Hearts Club posted by Captain, 2007-08-29 11:58:50 The propaganda machine is humming; even the radicals assist our cause – the more opposition and division the better! The Middle East has been successfully destabilised and plunged into chaos. We have appropriated the second largest oil supply on the planet and have ensured our presence in the region for decades to come by simply continuing our policies of antagonising/radicalising locals and encouraging them to take up arms. We have forced the world to assist us by creating conflict and wars in diverse locations. Our economy is A WAR ECONOMY, local production is now almost entirely war related; it would be suicidal for America to engage in any peaceful solutions. (full story) peace/war / international
