MADNESS posted by finch, 2006-06-03 07:00:07 The lack of skill and the madness of US Military personnel has once again made headlines. The latest exposed atrocity committed by US forces is the massacre of twenty-four innocent civilians (including women and children) in Haditha, Iraq. Little wonder that ineptitude and lack of expertise is displayed at the end of the chain of command when the top of the chain displays the greater degree of incompetence. But the most profound madness is exhibited as the inaction of the people of the USA. The madness of paralysis in the face of criminal government; the madness of inaction against the subversion of the Constitution of the United States; the madness of lost civil liberties without a struggle or insurrection. MADNESS has permeated every layer of society, from the top to the bottom, throughout the entire culture the disease is easily identified. MADNESS is the USA TODAY! Timor-Leste (Update) posted by peptide, 2006-06-01 14:55:26 America has been steadily reducing its active presence in the South Pacific over the past decade. Australia (the deputy sheriff) is expected to ‘step up to the plate’ and safeguard western interests in that region. Timor is the first test of deputy (dog) in the region and to date the deputy appears to be weakening at the knees. (full story and 2 comments) imperialism / international
Reeking in Timor posted by nano, 2006-05-28 07:21:09 Did I hear that word again (communist)? The comment/accusation was directed at the Timorese Prime Minister Alkatiri during an Oz ‘newscast’ – certainly puts an interesting slant on the Timor situation! I was reminded of the emerging independence of the Congo and the short life of its charismatic leader, Patrice Lumumba. The intervention of the CIA and the subsequent assassination of Patrice were entirely ‘coincidental’ events! (full story and 3 comments) imperialism / international
Expediency: the Death of Ideology posted by budgie, 2006-05-25 07:35:15 While the forces of the traditional ‘left’ argue and analyse themselves into irrelevance (out of existence) the expedient right rumbles forward like a juggernaut. The left has been overwhelmed by simple expediency, the ‘whatever it takes’ (just get the job done) mentality is winning the day. Political correctness has all but destroyed the left whereas the right streaks ahead unburdened by any ethical issues. Ideology has been completely abandoned in favour of strategy. Any semblance to ideology is merely coincidental or a ruse/distraction. (full story and 1 comments) social/political / international
Liars’ Club Confab: Bush and Blair at White House posted by William Hughes, 2006-05-25 07:06:30 The prime members of the Anglo-American Liars' Club, President George W. Bush and the UK's Tony Blair, met at the White House on May 25, 2006. The bull session lead to more perpetual war propaganda, including an agreement to keep troops there until the new Iraqi government of occupation "takes control." Protesters expected at the confab, include Ann Wright, who resigned her State Dept. job rather than endorse the Neocon-inspired war. (full story) peace/war / international
Symbiosis: Religion and the State posted by Kingfisher, 2006-05-23 08:18:43 Furthermore, theology induces passivity to authority – there is no better method of creating compliance than theology. Who else would quietly accept injustice, various forms of deprivation and huge disparities in the distribution of wealth than those who imagine it is the result of demerit, sin or the will of some God? Many extremely intelligent and capable people become observably handicapped when the subject/spectre of religion rears its illogical, paralysing and fear-inducing head. Never doubt the power that is born of theological indoctrination (child abuse) and the resultant fear that it engenders (usually for life). (full story) social/political / international
Conservative coalition enters Next Phase posted by peptide, 2006-05-19 16:33:52 In response to increased UN pressure to close the illegal Guantanamo Bay detention/torture centre, the Americans left no doubt, “we have no intention of closing Guantanamo Bay”. The flagrant illegality of Guantanamo Bay is lost on the Americans, or worse, stands as a defiant monument to American belligerence and unilateralism. The rest of the world can go to hell; Americans do what they want when they want, is that clear? (full story) imperialism / international
“The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.” posted by fish, 2006-05-16 07:09:05 Moses identifies his God in Exodus 15:3 – interesting description to say the least. Moses is either a liar or his God is a bloodthirsty God of War. There are numerous references in the text confirming without doubt that the God of the Old Testament is a murdering sociopath suffering from an unquenchable blood lust. Numerous verses and passages offer incontestable proof to that effect but there are none better than the story of Jericho. Jericho stands as the oldest record of premeditated genocide. Kill everyone regardless; men, women, children and suckling infants. (full story and 6 comments) social equality/unity / international
Failure of the Affluent State posted by nano, 2006-05-15 07:21:36 When the State fails and criminals steal the reigns of power corruption filters through State institutions. The agencies and the regulatory ‘authorities’ usually ‘toe the line’ and therefore cannot be trusted to serve the interests of the people. When the government becomes a den of thieves, liars and murderers it is the people who must restore sanity and legitimate government. (full story) social/political / international

Fundamentally Sick: Freud and Human Society posted by finch, 2006-05-10 08:14:50 For the purposes of this short paper it will suffice to restate the obvious and wonder how the health of modern human society could have been described as anything other than terminally ill. Society is only an expression of its component parts (people) and it is in that component that the overall health of any society can be measured. Accordingly, behavioural modification in a large group of people would alter the character and course of a society or nation. It is the behavioural modifiers that deserve attention. Moussaoui gets life: Bush displays acumen posted by budgie, 2006-05-03 16:12:55 Just when you thought the idiot President (Americans please note) couldn’t top his previous efforts of pure imbecility, he does it again! Bush, responding to the verdict handed down to small fry terrorist, Moussaoui, stated that, “Moussaoui got a life sentence, that means he will spend the rest of his life in jail.” [Doh!] Would the real leaders of the United States please show your faces because hiding behind this cretin is becoming tedious. We would all like to know who is really determining the course of the nation since the Zionists, Wolfowitz and Perle, have jumped ship. [Remember their (now failed) plan to safeguard Israel by duping the US into invading Iraq and eliminating Saddam after the missile attacks on Tel Aviv? Israel now faces a more horrendous nightmare as a direct result of the failures in Iraq. ‘O, what tangled webs!'] (full story) peace/war / international
Modern Christianity: A Flock of Lost Sheep posted by sadhu, 2006-04-27 16:29:49 Christianity today has become a misleading term and a very confusing ‘business’. Proclaiming one’s faith as ‘Christian’ no longer identifies the believer in a specific sense – there are more Christian denominations, groups and sub-groups than I would care to mention. Gone is the ‘one faith’, ‘one God’ principle that identifies all true religions; today there are ‘gelicos, penticos, charismaticos, deicos, bapticos, methicos’ and on it goes. The ‘religion’ is severely fragmented, each splintered faction claiming divine authority and status as the true religion (a perfectly absurd situation). (full story) philosophy / international
