Today’s right-wing political strategists have developed an effective technique to manage or direct the public’s attention. They have adopted Straussian methods of political deception. (full story and 2 comments)

Australia experiments with Saturation Surveillance posted by Dale Mills, 2006-01-25 05:58:52
A close-circuit video camera in every bank, on every shop front, every shopping mall, every train station, every local government camera, any private business with a camera centrally linked with live feeds to police command – not science fiction or a left-wing paranoia, but a reality in the Australian state of New South Wales that the world's police and security services will be watching closely. Bin Laden Backfire posted by nano, 2006-01-22 04:06:07
US ‘intelligence’ agencies now realise the ‘Bin Laden’ tape has been a huge flop and the effect has been the reverse of that anticipated. It has also proven to be a monumental liability as people around the globe are now questioning the veracity of all allegations relating to Bin Laden and Al Qaeda; Howard and Blair beware, even the Arabs are questioning their ideological base. Well done Semitic ideologues, neo-cons and Straussians. External attacks are unnecessary, you are doing an excellent job on yourselves – no help needed or wanted! (full story)

This is not a pipe Myth is 'reality' posted by fingers, 2006-01-20 12:27:37
In "Simulacra and Simulation", French social theorist Jean Baudrillard argues that our "postmodern" culture is a world of signs that have made a fundamental break from referring to "reality." (full story)

Bin Laden to the Rescue posted by finch, 2006-01-19 03:34:46
In a desperate attempt to retrieve the tatters that is the Bush government, Bin Laden has again come to the rescue – perfect timing! Who remembers the last major announcement from the person who has done more to assist Bush than any other man on the planet? It was during the last presidential election when Bush was in desperate need of an alarmist boost. (full story and 4 comments)

Bread vs Gold posted by cleaves, 2006-01-19 03:28:35
It is likely that a sharp economic downturn (recession) will be experienced at some stage during the period 2006-07. This indicator portends the global economic collapse of 2010-12. The hardest hit will be the banks and other financial institutions. In today’s world it would be foolhardy to take for granted the security and safety of any financial institution. (full story)

A Strategy Primer posted by Ibis, 2006-01-14 14:53:34
Social cohesion has never been more fragile than at present. Developing an effective survival strategy in an age of bankrupt ideologies is a challenging but not impossible task. All known political ideologies have failed or are failing (including capitalism). The lack of viable alternatives betrays a 'whipped' and beaten Western population not a shortage of real options. BANKSY -- utopia Social Disorder posted by peptide, 2006-01-12 05:39:39
The subversion of law and ‘order’ has been effectively and completely realised, not by revolutionary, rebel, insurgent groups and associated ideologies, but by the custodians of social order themselves. The process was essentially (d)evolutionary not revolutionary. An elementary student would have little difficulty understanding the character of the ‘New World Disorder’ and the forces that created this new social nightmare. The USA stands in plain sight as the most criminal, murderous, terrorist state in the world today. (full story and 2 comments)

Grandiose Visions – Nightmare Realities posted by Kingfisher, 2006-01-09 05:08:47
The “New American Century” (PNAC) and the “Thousand Year Reich”, shared a similar preposterous vision; a crude blend of wishful thinking, fantasy and religiosity. However, the chronologically modest American ‘vision’ is no less dangerous and destructive a model; in fact, the potential for destruction on a scale never before seen is inherent in the ‘New American (graveyard) Century’. Obvious Options posted by dingo, 2006-01-02 11:43:26
The forces that divide humanity issue from religion, tribalism, racism and self-interest. The fact that right wing groups emphasise the ‘virtues’ of these principles clearly identifies their support base and driving principles. It would seem obvious that an assault on the principles that create undesirable circumstances is preferable to dealing with the (disastrous) consequences after the event. (full story)

Anarchism: What it really stands for posted by Emma Goldman, 2006-01-01 03:27:37
Anarchism is the great liberator of man from the phantoms that have held him captive; it is the arbiter and pacifier of the two forces for individual and social harmony. To accomplish that unity, Anarchism has declared war on the pernicious influences which have so far prevented the harmonious blending of individual and social instincts, the individual and society.
