Bush reviving the nuclear threat posted by William D. Hartung and Frida Berrigan via rialator, 2007-05-23 09:20:15
April 30, 2007 -- Only days before the fifth anniversary of September 11, President George W. Bush addressed military officers in Washington to warn that nuclear-armed terrorists could "blackmail the free world and spread their ideologies of hate and raise a moral threat to America." This alarmist vision was accompanied by the White House's release of "A National Strategy for Combating Terrorism," which painted a picture of a "troubling potential WMD terrorism nexus emanating from Tehran." The administration is building the case for war against Iran--a job made easier by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's recent announcement that Iran can now enrich uranium on an industrial scale--despite the fact that many Iran-watchers and nuclear experts consider their claims of enrichment capacity to be an overblown boast. SOLIDARITY posted by cubic, 2007-05-12 12:38:43
In the absence of any real opposition in Australian politics -- major parties now compete with each other for the title of ‘conservative of the year’ -- a large percentage of the population has been left without a voice. The fact that the overwhelming majority of Aussies are not conservatives seems to have escaped the attention of opposition political parties. A major demographic group has been overlooked or under-utilised by consultants, marketeers and advisers to the parties. As there are no vacuums in politics the social space of real opposition is being filled by various sub-cultural organisations. Foremost among these groups are the para-military biker organisations -- the Rebels, Bandidos, Nomads and Commancheros. (full story)

Czech made Zlin Z-142 Asymmetry delivers Victory posted by naxal, 2007-04-28 15:11:15
From Sun tzu to today’s flying LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) the fundamental decisive factors determining the outcome of war have never changed – though some ‘superpowers’ would have us all believe otherwise. The determining factors are and have always been, intelligence, skill, ingenuity and tactics – all other factors, including high technology, are secondary. The outcome of War is determined by and anchored in the warrior. (full story and 1 comments)

Aussies -- Gallipoli Travesty of War: Lest we Forget posted by peptide, 2007-04-24 13:37:34
For reasons too numerous to cite, I weep as I write this piece. Today is the highly emotive, for Aussies and Kiwis, ANZAC day – a day of remembrance and commemoration for those who desperately seek a national identity in a modern alienated society. Yet constructing a national identity based on WAR is fraught with a multitude of obvious dangers. NOTHING valid or sane exists that could glorify War. WAR is the lowest form of human expression; those who attempt to glorify war deserve our unrelenting critical attention. Those who attempt to exploit highly emotive mythologised events deserve to be questioned. What are their real intentions and does a tailored view of what was essentially a military debacle really enhance national identity? Also, who is likely to capitalise on highly emotive mythologies that depress the critical and discriminative faculties? The nature of social power relations associated with a particular myth may assist in delivering some answers. (full story)

Teach your children well ... Constant Conflict: US Army College posted by U.S. Army College via rialator, 2007-04-23 13:23:36
[For those who doubted the psychopathology of the USA , read their own account. There is NO making peace with a rabid dog; for the welfare of all it must be put down immediately.]

There will be no peace. At any given moment for the rest of our lifetimes, there will be multiple conflicts in mutating forms around the globe. Violent conflict will dominate the headlines, but cultural and economic struggles will be steadier and ultimately more decisive. The de facto role of the US armed forces will be to keep the world safe for our economy and open to our cultural assault. To those ends, we will do a fair amount of killing. (full story)

Portrait of Sun tzu Art of War posted by Sun Tzu, 2007-04-19 10:48:35
Literary works become timeless classics due to many factors. Continuing relevance and excellence characterise all classic texts. In every respect SunTzu's classic work on strategy is peerless to this day. It was written in the most sublime and sophisticated period of Chinese culture; a period that also produced probably the most sublime work ever written by any human being, the Dao De Jing by Lao Tzu. Today, the western world is characterised by criminals in government, corruption in plague proportions and social decadence not seen since the fall of the Roman Empire, people would do well to refer to these two outstanding Chinese classics for inspiration. The Price of Complacency posted by cleaves, 2007-04-09 14:01:09
The price of inaction in the face of criminal government is about to be extracted; the cost will be borne by ALL. Would the point finally be driven home if the irrefutable, clearest indicator of psychopathology in government were to be demonstrated to the whole world? The manic and ruthless determination by Washington neocons to pursue an inherently sociopathic plan for world domination (PNAC) now threatens to open Pandora’s NUCLEAR box. Once open every nation would have been given license by the USA to utilise any weapon it chooses – perhaps that is the wish of doctrinaire neocons who subscribe to the permanent war philosophy? The near future should confirm whether Israeli training exercises and U.S. intelligence gathering materialises into a nuclear attack on Iran. (full story)

Slogans are Not Solutions posted by nano, 2007-03-20 22:48:02
In a recent speech delivered to a defence ‘think-tank’, the Australian Prime Minister John Howard displayed his total contempt for the Australian public and his audience by once again avoiding the real issues of the Iraq occupation. Howard refused to acknowledge the absolute fiasco and civilian death toll that he and fellow coalition leaders, Blair and Bush are directly responsible for. Rather than face the issues of a criminal invasion, subsequent oil plunder and a horrendous civilian death toll, Howard, in step with his American masters, echoed the same refrain as Bush. Howard asked that we forget four long years of absolute disaster and mismanagement and grant more time to the occupiers to essentially wreak more havoc on a nation that only wishes for the removal of all foreign troops from its soil. Israel, U.S. hold large-scale joint missile defense exercise posted by IHT via rialator, 2007-03-18 09:58:13
Prepare for a major ‘incident’ from desperate conservative forces worldwide! The following article would be a routine report if not for U.S. war games and joint military exercises to be held in Australia in the next few weeks. The recent visit of deputy sheriff, John Howard, to Japan on behalf of his master, the USA, provides for Japan to take an active role in military affairs in the region. Howard signed a joint military assistance pact with Japan, which maintains a constitutional anti-war restriction on its military (at the moment).

Joint military exercises in strategic locations around the globe should alarm China, Russia and other nations. The Americans have no notion of subtlety so these exercises indicate more than just routine events. The rogue must be stopped! (full story)

When Superpowers go Rogue posted by peptide, 2007-02-25 12:52:41
History records instances of powerful, belligerent nations invading and annexing weaker nations in their bid for world domination and plunder. Various pretexts are utilised to justify these attacks/invasions, the most familiar and infamous are the USS Liberty attack, the Tonkin Gulf incident and more recently the imaginary WMD 'threat'. These examples have one thing in common; they are all orchestrated in order to harness the public as a manageable resource to be used and abused by prevailing powers and to justify an otherwise illegal invasion or military aggression. Nations bent on world domination are extremely predictable; world domination is the folly of a powerful military and inept leadership – history is familiar with a multitude of conquering clowns known to us today as mass murderers.
