Earthquake: 10 kilometre crack in a road in Northern Thailand posted by Zoe Daniel via thriff, 2011-03-25 21:10:39
Yet another tectonic shift and earthquake this time around the Thai-Burma border. Had this quake hit in a heavily populated area it would have been devastating. But NOTE how the mass media is playing down these related events with brief reports lacking detail and without making obvious connections to recent tectonic activity on the Pacific Rim. Critics of Japanese Storage System See a Worse-Than-Chernobyl Scenario Ahead posted by Faye Flam via stele, 2011-03-19 20:51:21
With attention focused on tons of radioactive spent fuel that may have ignited, some experts say the Japanese will be lucky if the stricken Fukushima plant creates a disaster only the size of Chernobyl in 1986. (full story and 1 comments)

North Pacific Jet Stream Criminally negligent TEPCO Execs not the Exception in Japan but the Rule posted by quin, 2011-03-16 10:24:55
A little familiarity with Japanese history reveals a tradition of criminal corruption and deception from the highest echelons of society to the lowest – it’s a way of life! The deceptive and criminal behaviour of directors at Tokyo Electric, which included falsifying safety records and hiding rather than correcting problems at nuclear power plants, stems from a certain privileged class consciousness that considers itself above the law and regards the masses as nothing better than (expendable) serfs. Dai-ichi Reactor #4 in flames as Personnel Evacuated due to Dangerous levels of Radiation posted by stew, 2011-03-15 22:16:07
Fires in reactor #4 at the Fukushima nuclear power plant were most likely caused by hydrogen build-up or heat generated from spent fuel rods exposed to the atmosphere, or both. However, the later seems to be the case as fires were accompanied by very high levels of radiation issuing from the reactor -- the result of spent fuel rods breaking down and releasing poisonous radioactive particles into the environment due to loss of cooling. Australia is reputed to be one of the oldest and most stable land masses on the planet, so when it experiences a magnitude 4 earthquake following the devastating Pacific Rim quakes from NZ, Japan and that mysterious earth rupture in Peru, it’s time to ask geophysicists and other specialists what the fuck is going on? GE, the CORPORATIST that boasts that it “brings good things to life,” was the designer of the nuclear plants that are blowing up like hot popcorn kernels at the Fukushima Dai-ichi generating plant north of Tokyo that was hit by the double-whammy of an 9.1 earthquake and a huge tsunami. (full story)

Fukushima #3 nuclear reactor Explodes, situation under control, Really? posted by staff report via gan, 2011-03-13 23:17:37
I'm no double-talking politician or conservative scientist under political pressure, ALL I KNOW is WHAT I SEE and explosions do not indicate a situation 'under control!' Furthermore, the presence of poisonous radioactive Cesium in the atmosphere after the first explosion is a clear indication -- I have recently learned -- of a CORE MELTDOWN, but that was under-emphasised/reported at the time as is this latest 'trivial' explosion at Dai-ichi reactor #3, in one of the World's LARGEST nuclear power plants!
