Few societies today believe in their governments, in fact most people view their governments as criminal! Few people trust or believe their political leaders especially in view of the implausible explanations offered for highly questionable events such as 9/11, Iraq WMD and the anthrax letters. We all remember Colin Powell's academy award winning performance at the UN, which resulted in a shift of opinion in favour of pre-emptive war. Today we know EVERYTHING Powell said was a LIE yet we tolerate it! Should we then expect a person like Cheney to desist from his loathsome criminal activities? (full story)

[It hurts doesn’t it?] We are all apt to overlook glaring indicators during frantic media bombardments of mis/disinformation, especially the one currently raging over Georgia’s unprovoked attack on South Ossetia. But note the tone of desperation in the media today! The measured and calculated propaganda campaigns delivered during the illegal Balkan and Iraq interventions are gone; they have been replaced by a truly mindless, disjointed rhetoric punctuated with hysterical simian screeching from Georgia and Texas. The ILLEGAL unprovoked, U.S. backed attack on civilian targets in South Ossetia by Georgian forces is now an extremely familiar strategy. First used to great effect in recent times on Yugoslavia, then Iraq – LIES, provocation, response, escalation, destabilisation then FRAGMENTATION, U.S. bases and occupation forces – modern imperialist method in other words. Russia has finally responded to NATO/US attempts to encircle and compromise its defences. After promising to support its traditional ally Serbia, regarding the illegal secession of Kosovo, and failing to do anything but whimper, the Western orchestrated secession occurred. Russia rightly became the laughing stock of the developed world and was thereafter perceived to be a vacillating, timid and weak State -- a fallen superpower! Has the situation changed this week with Russian military intervention in South Ossetia? I think not, and professional opinion seems to support this view. (full story and 3 comments)

Radovan Karadzic appeared in the dock at the Hague today charged with invading oil rich nations on the pretext they possessed WMD. The Former Bosnian Serb leader faces genocide charges for causing the deaths of over 750,000 innocent Iraqi civilians. He was also accused of surgical missile strikes on numerous wedding parties in Afghanistan, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians including women and children. The Bosnian Serb leader insisted the wedding parties were in fact Muslim terrorists planning the overthrow of the entire world! (full story)

[Current circumstances in the U.S. prove these fears were not unfounded]. Provisions were encoded in the Constitution and Bill of Rights to safeguard the fledgling democracy and ensure it remained free of commercially destructive, self-serving interests. The right of citizens to bear arms allowed for a ready militia or citizen’s army that could march on the Capital at short notice if the need arose. Always look where they don’t want you to look! Have we all noticed who is grabbing the headlines at the UN food summit? Robert Mugabe may not have supplied ample distraction so invite the Iranian leader, Mahmmoud Ahmadinejad, and guarantee a diversion! Neither leader fails to mouth off given the opportunity. In an unexpected strategic twist – opinion favoured an offensive during an attack on Iran -- local forces and militias throughout the Middle East and Central Asia are mobilising for a simultaneous and concerted offensive against the American invader/occupier! A coordinated, simultaneous offensive of this type would smash the hold America has on a number of nations in the region. America simply does not have the human resources to respond to such a coordinated offensive. Nor would America’s few allies be willing to fight illegal wars of occupation on America’s behalf! Zoologists marvel over how ‘dumb’ animals display foreknowledge of impending natural disasters; the tsunami in SE Asia and now the China earthquake -- giant pandas were seen ‘parading’ in unison (highly unusual behaviour) hours before the quake struck. Yet humans, who were once also able to detect similar and more information from their immediate physical and psychological environment, today seem unable to detect a solution when it stares them in the face!
