Over twenty years ago (take note Al) an Australian commercial channel aired a program on the impending destructive effects of pollution on the climate and the environment. It was a measured, rational, non-sensationalist but heavily supported with scientific data presentation. It detailed the effects of global warming on major ocean currents and the dire consequences for North-Western Europe; it highlighted the potential wholesale destruction of sensitive coral reefs and the maritime ecology. It referred to biological indicators, stressed amphibians, frogs and the disturbed migration pattern of birds. All evident at the time – 20 years ago! But the most alarming indicator was accelerated glacial melting/receding -- high mountain glaciers feed the world’s largest food producing river systems! (full story and 2 comments)

There is no shortage of commentary regarding the Serbian elections nor is there any shortage of misinformation. Western ‘news’ media were quick to announce a ‘victory’ for the pro-Western party led by Tadic; however, while Tadic outpolled his primary nationalist opponent he is clearly unable to govern in his own right, a minor fact the western ‘news’ media ‘overlooked!’ (full story and 2 comments)

Earlier this year I reported on a retired American high school teacher who hadn’t heard of Richard Perle, a highly influential neo-conservative responsible for much of the trouble in which America now finds itself. Imagine that level of ignorance and you will have little difficulty understanding how demented 'senior' Republicans like John McCain are able to garner support for their race for the Presidency. Social and political ignorance is endemic in the USA. The schoolteacher was not the exception but the rule! (full story)

The superpowers are quiet at the moment but its not a restive quiet, it’s a lull before the storm! Few would misinterpret Cheney’s recent (preparatory) trip to the Middle East; Bush’s plan to ‘get Iran’ is about to be realised; Syria will have to wait or perhaps that task has been allotted to Israel. This war will see the introduction of tactical nuclear weapons by America and its ally Israel – the utter murderous INSANITY of it all -- but what of Russian and Chinese interests in the region? Democracy is majority rule via elected REPRESENTATION. Democracy only exists in societies where people are able to make INFORMED decisions. What then of societies where governments intentionally obfuscate, withhold information or brazenly LIE to their populations? Hashim Thaci, ‘PM’ of the illegitimate ‘nation/pretend state/pipeline corridor,’ Kosovo, is known to Interpol and most police agencies in Europe as an organised crime figure – a reputation he earned from his long standing interests in drug smuggling, sex slavery, arms dealing and other sordid criminal activities. Thaci is also a cold-blooded murderer and is therefore the perfect choice for America to install as ‘leader’ of the stolen Serbian province of Kosovo – some things you just can’t hide, Uncle! Current tensions in world affairs make a nuclear strike in the very near future almost a certainty. The current lopsided state of play favours the NATO/US alliance, as is evident with NATO’s accelerating expansionist policies. However, the latest assault utilises a proxy to provoke political unrest and destabilise the ethnically imbalanced Tibetan region. A formula that worked to perfection most recently in Kosovo!
