Hicks revelations: Ruddock in damage control posted by Kingfisher, 2007-04-27 15:15:33 American military prosecutors admit David Hicks was no threat whatsoever, he would have been a “total liability” to Al-Qaeda prosecutors admitted to Australian journalist Leigh Sales. This information flatly contradicts the ‘dangerous terrorist’ image of Hicks sold to the Australian public by Howard and his ministers, Downer and Ruddock! The already beleaguered Howard has suffered another major blow to his and his government’s credibility and ‘integrity’. Howard’s appalling dereliction of duty to Hicks has been openly exposed by his closest ally, America! Perhaps our ‘fearless’ leader should have thought twice prior to ceding the nation to the Yanks. The only one not heeding the very clear message that he is yesterday’s man, is Johnny himself, but as stated previously the genus of rodent clings to survival to the last dying twitch. Wonderland Down Under: Snoop Dogg refused visa posted by dingo, 2007-04-26 22:25:56 Internationally known racist, war criminal, Iraqi holocaust denier and coward prime minister of Australia, John Howard stated that [black] entertainer Snoop Dogg had been banned from entering Australia for “sound reasons … I have to be careful what I say in these matters but he has been ... well there are certain judgments that are made on certain advice that I can't go into, but the reasons for banning him are sound," said Howard. Perhaps the black rapper is also a HIV carrier and votes Democrat! Howard recently levelled more criticism at US Democrats in relation to the war in Iraq. The absurdity and hypocrisy of Howard’s behaviour is reaching levels unimagined by even his most fervent critics. (full story) injustice/law / international
Holocaust Denial posted by yarra, 2007-04-26 13:23:37 When is holocaust denial not a crime? When the victims are not Jews it would seem! As the world begins to target the lies and excesses of conservative governments, coalition leaders are becoming more nervous and agitated as each day passes. But the monstrous oversight of all opposition parties – and it’s not accidental – is continued holocaust denial. There is no dismissing the figures from a world-renowned authoritative journal (Lancet). The 660,000 civilian dead in Iraq CONSTITUTE A HOLOCAUST in any ‘language’. The screaming figures can no longer be dismissed, avoided or denied nor can the RESPONSIBILITY for the CRIMES. (full story and 2 comments) social/political / international
Stocksplosion posted by Jim Kunstler via rialator, 2007-04-25 22:27:15 Whenever somebody complains about "the lies that George Bush & Co. told to get us into the Iraq war" (as Frank Rich did in The New York Times on Sunday), I wonder how those lies compare to the lies that the American public tells itself every day -- for example, that we could run America without oil from the Middle East, or that hybrid cars will save Happy Motoring, or that we can have an economy without producing anything of value. Travesty of War: Lest we Forget posted by peptide, 2007-04-24 13:37:34 For reasons too numerous to cite, I weep as I write this piece. Today is the highly emotive, for Aussies and Kiwis, ANZAC day – a day of remembrance and commemoration for those who desperately seek a national identity in a modern alienated society. Yet constructing a national identity based on WAR is fraught with a multitude of obvious dangers. NOTHING valid or sane exists that could glorify War. WAR is the lowest form of human expression; those who attempt to glorify war deserve our unrelenting critical attention. Those who attempt to exploit highly emotive mythologised events deserve to be questioned. What are their real intentions and does a tailored view of what was essentially a military debacle really enhance national identity? Also, who is likely to capitalise on highly emotive mythologies that depress the critical and discriminative faculties? The nature of social power relations associated with a particular myth may assist in delivering some answers. (full story) peace/war / national
Constant Conflict: US Army College posted by U.S. Army College via rialator, 2007-04-23 13:23:36 [For those who doubted the psychopathology of the USA , read their own account. There is NO making peace with a rabid dog; for the welfare of all it must be put down immediately.]
There will be no peace. At any given moment for the rest of our lifetimes, there will be multiple conflicts in mutating forms around the globe. Violent conflict will dominate the headlines, but cultural and economic struggles will be steadier and ultimately more decisive. The de facto role of the US armed forces will be to keep the world safe for our economy and open to our cultural assault. To those ends, we will do a fair amount of killing. Frantic Lunge from Drowning Conservative posted by nano, 2007-04-22 15:46:57 Howard’s latest glib contribution, ‘Australia Rising’, delivered at the Queensland Media Club today, is yet another attempt to claw back into favour and steal attention away from the Murdoch endorsed future Prime Minister, Kevin (I can suck harder than you) Rudd. Howard’s spin-doctors have been working overtime to no avail it would seem. Following the ridiculous and desperate attempts to steal the agenda with infantile attacks on US presidential candidates, the HIV positive and most recently Howard's very revealing and ‘removed’ call for divine intervention regarding the water crisis, the “Australia Rising” speech will no doubt be greeted by the public with all the disdain it deserves! Bereft and incompetent Howard seeks Divine intervention! posted by dingo, 2007-04-21 13:34:40 After over a decade of negligence and dereliction of duty, the Prime Minister of secular Australia has urged the population to “pray for rain”. “It's very serious, [O really, we hadn’t noticed Oz is a desert continent!] it's unprecedented in my lifetime [local experts have sounded alarms for decades] and I really feel very deeply for the people affected, [platitude]” Mr Howard told ABC Television. The Candidate of Oz posted by budgie, 2007-04-20 17:27:41 The closer Australia gets to the Federal election, the fewer the political differences between the two major candidates! The chances of opposition leader, Kevin Rudd becoming the next Australian prime minister have increased dramatically following his private dinner engagement with king maker, Rupert Murdoch in New York today. During his quick visit to the U.S., Rudd also addressed the Brookings Institution in Washington and confirmed that any negligible differences between his policies and Howard’s would be completely eradicated by the time of the election and that he was ready, willing and able to assume the ’position’ of lackey, sycophant and new governor of America’s newest colonial acquisition, Australia! [O Ned, you’re better off dead!] (full story) social/political / national
Lancet calls for removal of Howard government posted by AAP via rialator, 2007-04-19 16:01:59 A PRESTIGIOUS international medical journal has launched an attack on Prime Minister John Howard and called on readers to vote against the Government at the upcoming election. Art of War posted by Sun Tzu, 2007-04-19 10:48:35 Literary works become timeless classics due to many factors. Continuing relevance and excellence characterise all classic texts. In every respect SunTzu's classic work on strategy is peerless to this day. It was written in the most sublime and sophisticated period of Chinese culture; a period that also produced probably the most sublime work ever written by any human being, the Dao De Jing by Lao Tzu. Today, the western world is characterised by criminals in government, corruption in plague proportions and social decadence not seen since the fall of the Roman Empire, people would do well to refer to these two outstanding Chinese classics for inspiration. The Art of Misinformation and Crowd Management posted by finch, 2007-04-17 16:54:02 In answer to growing animosity and the widely held view that the USA is a pariah among nations, compensatory responses from U.S. propagandists are becoming more frequent. The following media ‘staff report’ has been released to a number of international media outlets; India, Pakistan, Australia and Thailand to name the few. However, the ‘news’ release has received little coverage elsewhere, especially in locations familiar with U.S. double standards and hypocrisy. We refer to two Australian releases for our brief analysis. (full story) mass media / international
Hail and Farewell: the End of the American Empire posted by Gore Vidal via rialator, 2007-04-15 16:41:40 Whenever The New York Times finally gets the point to what is going on in our native land a celestial choir can be heard in Times Square, shouting hosannas. This happened recently, on April 14th, when they realized that there could be a dark explanation for what W. is doing when he sends a Mr. Bolton, a U.N. hater, to be ambassador to that body or a Mr. Wolfowitz to the World Bank, a man as ignorant of history and finance as the president himself. Maureen Dowd in the Times was allowed to set the pitch for the latest revelations with her “More Con Than Neo” headline. Meanwhile, hundreds, perhaps thousands, of incompetents are now cluttering the Justice Department while known incompetents are in place to wreck from within regulatory systems and even mighty Walter Reed Hospital itself. Australian Leader – “underdog” posted by Kingfisher, 2007-04-15 15:39:41 The Prime Minister of Australia claimed today that he would contest the forthcoming Federal election as the "underdog" – another tired (and familiar) Howard tactic! The failing politician failed to mention that it was he who created the situation with his inane, ill-considered comments ranging from his hysterical criticisms of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama, as the terrorist friendly candidate, to his astounding comments on HIV and immigration bans. Timor-Leste: El Dorado of the South Pacific posted by Kwang zi, 2007-04-14 18:18:56 The current population of East Timor is approximately one million souls while the value of its natural gas and oil reserves amount to billions of dollars. However, the tiny new island nation is impoverished with above 35% unemployment and a rural based economy. Without elaborating further, Timor-Leste presents an extremely volatile situation as greedy interests, primarily America via its ‘World’ Bank and Australia-New Zealand acting as the military arm, poise themselves to exploit the impoverished people and nation of Timor-Leste.
