Complicity posted by finch, 2005-12-20 02:11:02 Bush confesses his criminality and hopes that his ‘act’ of contrition will save him from the dock. He has finally acknowledged that the invasion (and occupation) of Iraq was/is based on incorrect information (lies). Supporters and citizens who desperately hope that Bush’s admission demonstrates his contrition had their hopes dashed against the hard reality of further sordid deeds – the illegal 'bugging' and monitoring of US citizen’s private communications by the NSA. [Would anyone seriously expect this criminal administration to change character?] Bush’s admission is a political gesture, a strategic manoeuvre in response to increasing international disapproval of the dishonesty of his regime. It’s Good News Week posted by cleaves, 2005-12-17 16:33:47 Bush has declared that it’s acceptable to illegally bug US citizens for a ‘good cause’; Cheney opposed legislation banning the use of torture by US agencies! Rumsfeld denounces claims that Iraq invasion is related to Oil appropriation; US Congress attacks Bush or rather those responsible for the debacle that is the Bush Presidency. But the news of the week is the residents of Sydney contracting the disease that is John Winston Howard (cowardice). (full story) social equality/unity / national
Response: Derrida’s Deconstruction of Authority posted by budgie, 2005-12-16 13:35:36 The inherent qualities of anarchism are egalitarian, democratic and cooperative relations. These qualities enable it to ‘roam’ at will within any cultural dynamic and to be seen or appreciated as compatible with whatever it encounters. However, its inherent qualities are not realised until after the host has been affected/‘equalised’ by constant dilution/dispersal of ‘congested’ power. The cuckoo’s egg becomes the fully developed bird of a completely different genus to that which nurtured it. (full story) philosophy / international
Portend: Civil Unrest posted by peptide, 2005-12-13 14:29:47 Right wing conservative ideology is founded on elitism and divisionism. Is there any doubt that John Howard’s racist immigration and refugee policies are now manifesting themselves in the Australian community as race-based divisionism and conflict? The Politics of Inversion posted by Kingfisher, 2005-12-09 13:45:28 A fundamental feature of extremist regimes is the absolute requirement for an adversary. If a real or perceived enemy loses its opponent status then a bogeyman (under the bed) mentality is cultivated until the negative effects of that strategy (fear, loathing etc.) can be successfully superimposed onto a suitable ‘candidate’. The ‘successful’ candidate would then immediately attract the fear, loathing and violence of the extremist society (or group) in question. (full story) social/political / international
Annapolis in Wonderland posted by furlong, 2005-12-05 05:21:37 The present international instability could result in one or numerous other horrendous scenarios. However, the one glaring consistency or constant in today’s international political arena is the hatred that America has attracted from the rest of the world. Regardless of any other consideration, a nation despised by all is doomed. The USA has earned its reward by its blatant double standards, hypocrisy and the serial exploitation of weaker nations. These are the direct causes of the retaliatory response on American interests worldwide. The so-called “terrorists” are only a minor distraction while the real war unfolds. Rumsfeld: Adelaide (Update) posted by cleaves, 2005-11-18 01:22:36 Activists asserted their democratic right to protest Rumsfeld’s visit outside the heavily guarded Adelaide Town Hall regardless of Dr. Bob Such granting ‘permission’ to protest outside South Australia’s Parliament House. Let’s not miss a ‘subtle’ point; the right to protest is fundamental to a democratic society, let that right act as a barometer in any society that purports to uphold democratic values. Rumsfeld in Adelaide posted by cleaves, 2005-11-16 01:28:25 US Secretary of Defence, Zionist and neo-con extraordinaire, Donald Rumsfeld, will visit Adelaide (of all places) to hold discussions with servile Australian politicians regarding Australia’s continuing involvement with the pariah nation of the world, the USA. Rumsfeld’s visit is timely, it coincides with nationwide dissent and protest against IR and draconian anti-terrorist laws recently implemented by leading US lackey and coward extraordinaire, John Howard. Aberration posted by finch, 2005-11-14 02:58:25 There are two types of Australian today, the pre-Howard traditional Aussie and the Howard infected diseased group of cringing cowards. Take note you gutless wonders. If you think the Howard disease will endure and you’re safe, then think again. Howard’s survival depends on the degree to which the consciousness of the people has been permanently altered. What residual or lasting effects do you think Howard will leave on the consciousness of the people? Almost none, if history is consistent! (full story) social equality/unity / national
Howard’s Terrorists posted by peptide, 2005-11-11 02:18:38 When forced to produce, what do we get? The same fanatic imbeciles that were paraded on the local media after the London bombings and some others armed with PVC pipe, ‘sticky-tape and chewing gum’! Compare these outcomes with real bombings in George St. Sydney, in the seventies. Most Australians are aware that, like all other nations, we have always had our share of extremist fanatics, they can be easily located in mosques, churches and synagogues around the nation. There is nothing new in this regard; the existence of social misfits does not warrant the implementation of draconian policies on a national level. (full story) social/political / national

Sedition and Opportunity posted by Kingfisher, 2005-11-05 01:24:53 Real democracies are populated with active not passive citizens; passivity is characteristic of totalitarian and other oppressive regimes. Prior to any government or ruling body eliminating hard-won liberties and circumventing constitutional rights, the population must necessarily become timid, fearful, apathetic and passive. How simple it becomes to harness and manipulate such a population! (full story) human rights / international
Snow Job: ‘Whip it good’, whip it to death! posted by nano, 2005-11-01 12:26:32 John Howard has raised the ‘spectre’ of a 'possible' terrorist strike (?) in order to implement, without proper parliamentary debate, a new law (or semantic alteration) designed to save us all! A ‘raw prawn’ strategy if ever there was one. (full story) social/political / national
Appeasement or Cover-up posted by cleaves, 2005-10-28 15:38:09 Bush has announced that Libby is “innocent until proven guilty”, one law applies for disgraced officials while another for the Australian, David Hicks (and many others) who have been denied even the most basic human rights (while they rot for years in illegal detention centres around the world). Should we cite the flagrant double standard or rest in the assurance that a glaring hypocrisy and double standard would not pass unnoticed? (full story) social/political / international
Sense or Subversion posted by cleaves, 2005-10-21 05:10:08 Australian federal government expenditure on media consultants and market analysts exceeds three hundred million dollars per annum. Despite all the Taxpayer’s money that is spent only a proportion of the population adopts Howard’s cringe mentality and succumbs to the contractionist politics of fear. Announce the (remote) possibility of ‘chicken’ fever (avian flu) mutating and a percentage of the population rushes pharmacies and exhausts the supply of an anti-viral drug reputed to alleviate some of the ill effects (but not prevent) this disease. [Remember the Y2K scare and associated hysteria?] In answer to the tiniest ‘army’ in the history of warfare (a few dozen ‘terrorists’) we turn our whole existence upside down running in fear and loathing at every little alarm that our lying politicians would sound.
