Orwell That Ends Well posted by Randall Amster via fleet, 2010-09-08 06:58:31
In just the past week, a friend lost his cellphone, and another was robbed. One fell asleep in the bathtub, and another visited her old elementary school. A number had interesting fare for dinner. Some liked the weather, others lamented it. One notable presence in particular diligently posted her whereabouts at all times. Pretty typical stuff actually, and almost none of it interesting in the least. (full story and 1 comments)

It ain’t over till it’s over -- Iraq, Afghanistan posted by dasha, 2010-09-06 09:37:23
The Corporate controlled media is currently overflowing with outright bullshit regarding America’s wars of invasion and occupation. The line running is that the combat mission in Iraq is at an end and that the war is ‘over;’ also that ‘progress’ is being made in Afghanistan and that that war is ‘winnable.’ To add to those American dreams is the frantic sell that the global economy is ‘recovering.’ (full story)

Ben 'bereft' Bernanke Global economy: dead man walking posted by lynx, 2010-08-30 18:44:06
I thought I’d heard it all until Ben Bernanke, bereft of any positive remedies or strategies, openly stated to the world that he would support the failed economy with more ‘quantitative easing’ i.e. printing worthless toilet paper money and attempting to indebt people and nations with a privately owned printing press – for fuck’s sake Ben, the jig is up! 'Perception Management' and Information Warfare posted by via fleet, 2010-08-27 19:58:10
The following video documentary exposes the mass media as an orchestrated, managed, propaganda machine -- in other words it has become a thoroughly corrupted medium serving a tiny minority that clearly does not have the best interests of society at heart.

Interviews with highly respected academics and analysts are featured in the doco; they include such luminaries as Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn and Michael Parenti.

The video is a balanced, in depth historical view of the forces that shaped the mass media into what it is today -- it is highly recommended viewing. (full story)
