America determined to destroy heart and soul of Serbia posted by mirko, 2007-12-08 08:39:21 Prior to the present ‘deliberations and discussions’ regarding Kosovo, we should not forget that Bush and his war whore, Rice, stated emphatically that independence for the tiny province was “certain.” Moronic and inept as such comments are they are nevertheless revealing. Serbia need have no illusions as to who it is that wishes to obliterate it from Europe and the world. Not content with the destruction of greater Yugoslavia, America pursues Serbia with a mania characteristic of psychopaths. Perhaps it is an unconscious measure of respect for Serbs and perhaps America is right to be afraid! (full story) peace/war / international
Russia sends naval battle group to Mediterranean posted by nano, 2007-12-07 21:56:13 China assumes the quiet background role of observer while Russia conducts naval exercises in a show of strength and in support of allies in the region. It seems that one thieving military grab for oil in the region (Iraq) is all the free world will tolerate from America. (full story) peace/war / international
Germany seeks to completely ban Scientology posted by finch, 2007-12-07 11:17:28 A move in the right direction some would say but why stop at sci-fi 'religion,' Scientology – the Abrahamic three – Judaism, Islam and Christianity -- pose a greater threat to world peace. Scientology, a product of the mind of sci-fi writer and con-man, L. Ron Hubbard, seeks to relieve its followers of their hard-earned money while the Abrahamic three seek to facilitate the millennium i.e. a global holocaust! On a danger to society scale Scientology does not ‘hold a candle’ to the murderous Abrahamic three. (full story) theology / international
A threat to world Peace -- U.S. interference in Balkans posted by Kingfisher, 2007-12-07 08:40:08 Kosovo is legally, morally, and spiritually, Serbian; which part of that simply reality is difficult to understand? Every nation has the legal right to maintain its territorial integrity; what part of that legal reality is difficult to understand? The KLA is an Islamic, criminal, secessionist terrorist organisation -- fact! Nations that support criminal organisations cast themselves as criminal States; recent world history would validate that reality. (full story) peace/war / international
Journalistic fools feast at media trough posted by peptide, 2007-12-06 21:17:06 Has it occurred to anyone that recent media releases of (destroyed) CIA tapes and intelligence reports contradicting Bush and Cheney rhetoric on Iran have no real value other than to create sensationalist stories and media feeding frenzies? Easily led and distracted journalists feed on these releases as do sharks in a feeding frenzy – much to the delight of Whitehouse PR and press staff! One can almost hear the contemptuous and scornful remarks of Whitehouse consultants, ‘that’ll keep ‘em entertained and busy while we push on with the plan!’ (full story) mass media / international
Writers: unappreciated and taken for granted posted by nano, 2007-12-06 05:37:46 The writers strike in the US has brought an undervalued and unappreciated profession to the foreground of cultural consciousness. Writers are notoriously underpaid, yet what they produce in all sectors and mediums is indispensable and generates billions in wealth. Underpaid and unappreciated writers (in solidarity) are about to teach western society a lesson it may never forget. The pen is mightier than the bomb, stock market or anything else you care to mention. Writers will soon demonstrate the fact. (full story and 1 comments) social/political / international
Positive Options posted by budgie, 2007-12-05 08:41:00 It’s not over by any stretch. If global warming/climate chaos, GM food, or geological upheaval doesn’t get us first then European social democracies will prove the superior model over laissez-faire grab it and run, American style capitalism. It’s goodbye and good riddance America and no thanks for plunging the world into chaos and war. We do not need you nor do we want your form of ‘freedom, liberty and democracy’ dripping in the blood of innocent men, women and children. You can stick your poisonous system and vile ideology up your collective national arse! (full story and 2 comments) imperialism / international
WAKE UP! posted by yarra, 2007-12-04 18:25:44 I was in the process of writing the future of the world on a pinhead when that quarter-brain Bush appeared on TV accusing other nations of threatening world peace – hold it right there! The two most aggressive, invasive and murderous nations today are clearly Israel and the USA – the civilian death toll is evidence of the fact! (full story) peace/war / international
DARPA seeks network firing ranges for cyber weaponry posted by Lewis Page via Kismo, 2007-12-03 21:13:24 DARPA (Defence Advanced Research Project Agency), the Pentagon battle-boffins who would rather bet on a long shot than eat their dinners, are looking for the computer-net equivalent of a firing range or exercise training area. Frankenstein's Farm posted by F. William Engdahl via reed, 2007-12-03 20:41:39 One thing Microsoft founder Bill Gates can’t be accused of is sloth. He was already programming at 14, founded Microsoft at age 20 while still a student at Harvard. By 1995 he had been listed by Forbes as the world’s richest man from being the largest shareholder in his Microsoft, a company which his relentless drive built into a de facto monopoly in software systems for personal computers. Free and fair elections, a circus! posted by finch, 2007-12-03 12:05:20 The world has entered a new phase of political charades; you may have heard the platitude, “free and fair [democratic] elections” – that slogan, along with spreading democracy, was incessantly repeated as the second justification for the Iraq invasion/occupation. The WMD lie had served its purpose it was time to move on to the next phase of the planned takeover of Middle East energy resources. But first we should trace a brief history of the charade called ‘free and fair elections.’ (full story and 1 comments) peace/war / international
Iraqi insurgents regrouping, says Sunni resistance leader posted by Jonathan Steele via reed, 2007-12-02 20:03:29 Iraq's main Sunni-led resistance groups have scaled back their attacks on US forces in Baghdad and parts of Anbar province in a deliberate strategy aimed at regrouping, retraining, and waiting out George Bush's "surge", a key insurgent leader has told the Guardian. Vladimir Putin: “The world's most popular leader”? posted by Mike Whitney via rialator, 2007-12-01 07:57:33 On Sunday, Russians will vote in their country's parliamentary elections. The results are a foregone conclusion. Putin's party, United Russia, is expected to win in a landslide. The only question is whether the margin of victory will exceed 70%. If it does, then Putin will continue to be the most powerful player in Russian politics even after he steps down from office next year. (full story) social/political / international
‘Cocaine' Economics: a rude awakening posted by peptide, 2007-11-30 14:02:01 The pinnacle of absolute denial has been reached, I refer initially to the notion that Reserve Banks are able to actively intervene and restore today’s delinquent stock markets. Laissez-faire capitalism has come of age, but we do not see a well-groomed, successful, balanced ‘mature adult’ free market, we see instead a spoilt infant crying out for daddy government to bail it out of trouble; an infant incapable of accepting the responsibility for its self-centred and self-serving behaviour. Plutocrat selects new President of the USA posted by finch, 2007-11-30 07:55:07 Understand the not so subtle subtleties of plutocracy. After installing Kevin ‘lunch in New York’ Rudd as the new Prime Minister of Australia, Rupert Murdoch has sent a clear signal to his media minion's by supporting Hillary Clinton with an overt contribution for her campaign in the race for the presidency – message received loud and clear, Rupert! In other words it’s all but over for other contenders as Murdoch’s media machine adjusts to the wishes of its owner. (full story) social/political / international
