When the Great War comes, said old Bismarck, it will come out of "some damn fool thing in the Balkans." On June 28, 1914, Gavrilo Princip shot the Archduke and heir to the Austrian throne Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, setting in motion the train of events that led to the First World War.
In the spring of 1999, the United States bombed Serbia for 78 days to force its army out of that nation's cradle province of Kosovo. The Serbs were fighting Albanian separatists of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). And we had no more right to bomb Belgrade than the Royal Navy would have had to bombard New York in our Civil War. In contrast to the Australian Foreign Minister’s ‘yezz boss’ attitude to the Americans, Helen Clark, New Zealand PM, has joined other nations in not formally recognising the illegal secession of Kosovo. Notwithstanding Smith’s early show of subservience we are about to be treated to an even greater exhibition of servility from the new Rudd Labor government! The Australian Foreign Minister, Stephen Smith, is currently rummaging through his wardrobe looking for his ornate, formal dress kneepads in preparation for the visit of the American Defence Secretary, Robert Gates! Former Australian Foreign Minister to the Hawke-Keating governments, Gareth Evans -- a man with much to hide regarding his complicity in the cover-up of the Balibo five murders -- today displayed his continuing infatuation with his own reflection in the pond of NATO/EU dreams! Evans, who is divorced from everything but the most myopic of views, expressed an opinion so completely divorced from reality one wonders whether the International Crisis Group (ICG) that now employs him, is in crisis itself! Australia’s involvement in the assassination of Major Alfredo Reinado is indicated – according to some analysts -- by the prolonged induced coma of Jose Ramos-Horta. The president of Timor-Leste is perhaps the only person able to supply crucial information regarding events leading to the death of Major Reinado and his own wounding, YET an odd reluctance to obtain accurate information is becoming evident, particularly from the Australians, America’s proxy in the region! Disgruntled freedom fighters led by Major Alfredo Reinado have attacked the symbolic head of Timor-Leste’s puppet government today. Turncoat president, Jose Ramos-Horta was shot twice during the attack, however, accurate reports of his condition are not available at this stage, though his condition is said to be critical. Puppet Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao has ‘assured’ western media the situation is ‘stable’ in view of the fact he was also targeted and attacked by freedom fighters! A bit less propaganda and a little more realistic, accurate reporting please! (full story)

While the European Union and the US, have acknowledged that they would be "opposed" to a " unilateral" declaration of independence of Kosovo, the secession of Kosovo from Serbia is already de facto. It is part of a US-NATO military agenda. It is the culmination of the 1999 NATO led invasion. It responds to US-NATO strategic objectives. (full story)

The clueless, “mission accomplished” president of the U.S.Aaaay was greeted with a standing ovation from Congress, unrestrained cheers and acclamations reaching to the rafters but the delusory, obviously strained overkill betrayed the PANIC of (crashing) reality. What has the Bush administration done right, name one Goddamn thing, to put it in the American idiom! News videos clearly depict then U.S. president, Bill Clinton, smirking after the Chinese embassy was hit by missile attacks on Belgrade, capital of Serbia. Targeting civilians was a crime then and remains a war crime today; however, the world was not yet familiar with the criminal tactics that later would characterise the ‘new’ American terrorist State! The most amusing aspect of the ‘credit crunch,’ ‘sub-prime crisis’ – let’s call a spade a spade, the massive losses incurred as a result of manipulation and appropriation of trillions in funds by very clever, fast-talking financial manipulators/rogues -- are the lame excuses offered by bank execs to a very angry, debt-burdened public.
It’s time to face the music gentlemen and inform the public of the grim, compromising story of a failed economic model and the result of financial deregulation. If you are unable to clearly trace where all the money has gone, then accept responsibility for the losses and your incompetence and beg for mercy – your multi-million-dollar salaries now threaten to destroy you? It’s time to speak up before some bright, angry, family person or shareholders group arranges a SIMULTANEOUS, nation-wide DEFAULT ON ALL LOANS!
