The image of CIA officers demonstrating and detailing torture techniques considered for use during detainee interrogations in the White House is one most Americans could probably never conceive. And yet, ABC News reported last week that senior Bush administration officials were privy to such presentations in the Situation Room as they discussed and approved the brutal treatment (such as waterboarding) of terror suspects. They also approved combining various techniques to be used on a suspect. (full story)

The totalitarian leaning Australian government announced today that it would legislate to allow ‘employers/bosses’ to read the emails and other digital communications of their employees. A ‘slight’ intrusion on personal liberties to say the bloody least – perhaps staff should read managements’ emails to maintain a security balance! Who is watching the watchers? No one of course! This strategy is unadulterated totalitarian poison, designed to alienate and engender mistrust and division among employees and make them more amenable to their employer’s control. The feeble excuse offered the Australian public for this unacceptable intrusion is maintaining “national security.” Not so, Ms Stasi Gillard! (full story)

Alarm and consternation has befallen members of the Bilderberg group; their traditional power-base -- wealth -- had just been threatened by a ‘dark’ horse Senator from Illinios! “We have created a parallel public financing system where the American people decide -- if they want to support a campaign they can get on the Internet and finance it,” Obama stated at a Washington fundraiser. “And they will have as much access and influence over the course and direction of our campaign that traditionally [was] reserved for the wealthy and the powerful,” he added! Washington has obviously decided on an ultra-high risk geopolitical game with Beijing by fanning the flames of violence in Tibet just at this sensitive time in their relations and on the run-up to the Beijing Olympics. It’s part of an escalating strategy of destabilization of China which has been initiated by the Bush Administration over the past months. It also includes the attempt to ignite an anti-China Saffron Revolution in the neighboring Myanmar region, bringing US-led NATO troops into Darfur where China’s oil companies are developing potentially huge oil reserves. It includes counter moves across mineral-rich Africa. And it includes strenuous efforts to turn India into a major new US forward base on the Asian sub-continent to be deployed against China, though evidence to date suggests the Indian government is being very cautious not to upset Chinese relations. It seems our pipsqueak leader has forgotten his primary responsibility of promoting and pursuing Australian interests. Daddy America came first with Howard and Rudd is nothing if not a Howard clone. One conspicuous feature of the recent NATO summit was the rhetoric or rather diatribes and double-speak from the world’s ‘most powerful leaders.’ Bush and some NATO leaders favoured the words 'liberty' and 'freedom' in their media statements and public addresses. If anyone harboured any doubts regarding Australia’s CONTINUING role as sycophantic, servile, cringing, lackey to America, doubt no more.
