Aussie investors win ‘servile stakes’ posted by budgie, 2008-10-31 23:40:45 Desperate citizens who had their investments/funds frozen have been ‘allowed,’ by the ‘big-hearted’ regulator, to access small amounts of their funds to meet the costs of daily life – how bloody generous! The magnanimity of the regulator, ASIC, and the parasitic financial institutions is ‘beyond measure.’ All I can say in the circumstances is, ‘you’re’ damn lucky you haven’t any of my funds frozen, you loathsome parasites! Former insider Bankster saves personal funds just prior to public freeze! posted by finch, 2008-10-28 23:02:26 Malcolm Turnbull, conservative leader in the Oz parliament and former Goldman Sachs employee, ‘somehow’ managed to save his personal funds from a mortgage related investment just prior to the fund house freezing all public redemptions, perfect timing, Malcolm! As ‘Gordon Gekko’ stated so contemptuously in the movie, Wall Street, the “outsiders” (sheep) are at the mercy of "insiders" – how true! (full story) social/political / international
U.S. threatens to halt services to Iraq without troop accord posted by Roy Gutman and Leila Fadel via reed, 2008-10-27 23:19:27 [The latest hair-brain tactic of the US mass murdering military is to threaten the cessation of services to Iraq by January 1st, if the Iraqi puppet government does not comply with US DEMANDS, brilliant! China and Russia are waiting patiently in the wings for an invitation to do business in a civilised manner. Neither superpower feels the need to murder over one million INNOCENT civilians in order to develop Iraq's valuable resources. By all means, yankee doodle moron, CEASE ALL SERVICES AND FUCK OFF!] (full story and 1 comments) social/political / international
Masters of America posted by barra, 2008-10-25 22:40:15 For those who require hard evidence that Wall St. not Capitol Hill rule the USA look no further than the latest babbling of puppet president, dubya Bush. With the financial system and the global economy in tatters and after European and Asian leaders agreed to overhaul the international financial system; the star-spangled parrot (president) spouted his learned lines. [Believe it or not] Bush called on the world to “recommit” to the “free market” system that caused the global economic crisis/collapse in the first instance -- astounding! Bush made the remarks while standing in the cow paddy that was once the American economy. I can almost hear him asking his handlers if he ‘did good;’ you did just fine, George, you can go out and play now, you tubular bell! (full story and 2 comments) social/political / international
Irresponsible currency printing certain to annihilate greenback posted by nano, 2008-10-25 01:37:43 The REAL value of the greenback is not reflected in the currency markets at present. The international community continues to support US toilet paper money only for fear of additional economic disruption; nevertheless, they will soon be forced to dump their worthless currency reserves lest they too be caught ‘short footed’ as some well-known banks that failed to dump their toxic credit ‘products’ have demonstrated! Oz financial Institutions freeze run on redemptions posted by peptide, 2008-10-23 09:44:16 Australian financial institutions give clearest indication yet that YOUR money/investments are beyond your control! Perhaps a gun to the head of a few directors and executives may clarify matters of ownership! (full story) social/political / international
Not so stupid! posted by dingo, 2008-10-22 11:18:47 The now 100% divorced from reality U.S. president Bush, recently spoke with Russian, Chinese and Indian leaders in the hope he could marshal support for the financial crisis he and his ‘have mores’ created! Are you serious, you vacuum-headed retard? (full story and 2 comments) social/political / international
The Disease and the Cure – a practical strategy posted by Ed., 2008-10-22 08:18:49 The articles that follow were written two and three years ago respectively; the first has proven to be an extremely accurate analysis and forecast; the second provides a simple but highly effective strategy for empowering the public and demonstrating that the most effective force for restoring social and economic balance/harmony is the people.
The people are lions raised as sheep; in times of crisis little effort is required to awaken and release the innate power of the masses. Historically, the people have always restored social equity and equilibrium. Robber barons, bankers and corporate racketeers beware! (full story) social/political / international
Criminals at the top: It’s high time for accountability posted by finn, 2008-10-21 01:44:22 In view of recent socio-economic and political history the title hardly requires elaboration. Nevertheless, prior to stating the obvious I would recount an experience from my student years.
During the course of a lively tutorial debate, someone stated, ‘it’s obvious’ – and ‘it’ was! However, the rigours of uni demanded proof, supporting evidence and references. I will never forget the response from the astute but unorthodox student; “to prove the ‘sky is blue’ is difficult, as it requires the challenger/sceptic to undertake certain actions to satisfy the challenge of ‘furnishing’ proof. In this instance I would simply ask the sceptic to lift his chin and take a good bloody look out the window at the blue sky!” The point being the onus is shared! One stable; two horse race posted by yarra, 2008-10-19 22:40:12 As mindless Americans obsess over the STAGED race for the presidency they tend to overlook the simple fact that a two party system that requires hundreds of millions of dollars to function is the farthest thing from democratic process imaginable! A definition may be required for the Paris Hiltons of this world: DEMOCRACY is simply MAJORITY RULE via representative government – I lament the number of times this simple definition must be repeated! Pauslon proves to be bigger idiot than Bush posted by peptide, 2008-10-18 11:41:03 Is anyone really surprised? It is now clear that Treasury Secretary, Henry Paulson, has no idea how to stabilise the American economy, let alone revive it. In a matter of weeks he has gone from FAILED plans A, B then ‘XYZeee,’ with the result that he now makes Bush look intelligent! (full story and 1 comments) social/political / international
US Banks Reap Whirlwind of Govt Spending posted by Adrianne Appel via rialator, 2008-10-17 07:35:39 BOSTON, Oct 17 (IPS) - The George W. Bush administration handed 125 billion dollars to nine of Wall Street's richest banks, but this will do little to help the economy that is crumbling around ordinary U.S. citizens, independent experts and activists say. The Disease and the Cure posted by Kingfisher, 2008-10-16 00:52:43 The first signs of alarm and panic from filthy rich elites have begun to reach the public via the mass media – how such material slipped through editorial vetting is not known but what is known is that Rupert and his fellow media moguls are not happy. Does the bailout pass the smell test? posted by Paul Craig Roberts via rialator, 2008-10-15 07:47:59 The explanation that has been given for the financial crisis does not match up with the solution that has been devised. Moreover, the windows into the crisis offered by the authorities are opaque rather than transparent. (full story) social/political / international
