We appreciate that some specialise in the Art of Assassination and War, but surely Poetry is the preferable option!]

Enraged About Corporate Greed? Kidnap Your Boss
Christopher Ketcham via budgie, Thursday, Apr 30 2009, 10:15pm
In answer to their own economic crisis, the French have taken up "bossnapping."
Here's how it works: An executive of a company, perhaps the CEO, stands before a group of his employees, puts his hands together, sighs, and then, with regret as smooth as brie, explains the fact that downsizing is needed to meet the exigencies of economic crisis (read: the preservation of profits in downturn).

Tamil civilians slaughtered as army shells 'no-fire zone'
Gethin Chamberlain via fleet, Sunday, Apr 19 2009, 6:59am
[De-sensitisation to the suffering of others comes, as does everything, at a price. Callousness rots our very soul; we lose a little bit of what makes life worth living each time we ignore the plight of our fellow human beings. Have you noticed how Western populations long for an end to their misery?

Federal Authority Over the Internet? The Cybersecurity Act of 2009
Jennifer Granick via Kismo, Wednesday, Apr 15 2009, 10:50am
There's a new bill working its way through Congress that is cause for some alarm: the Cybersecurity Act of 2009, introduced by Senators Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME). The bill as it exists now risks giving the federal government unprecedented power over the Internet without necessarily improving security in the ways that matter most. It should be opposed or radically amended.

Tom Burghardt via rialator, Monday, Apr 13 2009, 9:05am

"They should arrest Obama for impersonating a President"
Ted Rall via rialator, Friday, Apr 10 2009, 8:06pm
America is a nation of laws -- laws enforced by Spain.
John Yoo, Jay Bybee, David Addington, Alberto Gonzales, William Haynes and Douglas Feith wrote, authorized and promulgated the Justice Department "torture memos" that the Bush Administration used for legal cover. After World War II, German lawyers for the Ministry of Justice went to prison for similar actions. (story and 1 comment and 1 image and 1 attached file)

Will China be caught with worthless greenbacks?
Mike Whitney via zing, Tuesday, Apr 7 2009, 9:57pm
Fed chief Ben Bernanke has embarked on the most radical and ruinous financial rescue plan in history. According to Bloomberg News, the Fed has already lent or committed $12.8 trillion trying to stabilize the financial system after the bursting of Wall Street's speculative mega-bubble. Now Bernanke wants to dig an even bigger hole, by creating programs that will provide up to $2 trillion of credit to financial institutions that purchase toxic assets from banks or securities backed by consumer loans. The Fed's generous terms are expected to generate a flurry of speculation which will help strengthen the banking system while leaving the taxpayer to bear the losses. It is impossible to know what the long-term effects of Bernanke's excessive spending will be, but his plan has the potential to trigger hyperinflation or spark a run on the dollar. Obama serves the status quo, Martin Luther King served the Creator, his fellow man and his conscience!

The Smooth Criminal Transition from Bush/Cheney to Obama
Larry Chin via quin, Saturday, Apr 4 2009, 6:55am
To sober, clear-eyed observers of history and political deception, the ascension of Barack Obama held the promise for unprecedented new dangers: a revitalized New World Order, led by the Anglo-American empire’s neoliberal criminal faction and an iconic, deceptive new facilitator; and a continuation of Bush/Cheney criminality and war, under smarter and much more effective management.
Now, just months into their tenure, the Barack Obama administration has more than fulfilled the promises he made to his elite constituency, deepening the mass destruction of Bush/Cheney, while charming its victims all over the world into enjoying their own demise. (story and 1 comment and 1 image)

Obama welcomes Albania, Croatia to NATO
Robert Burns via rialator, Saturday, Apr 4 2009, 5:57am
Where will it end, Han? Do you see the dick in your face, NOW? You have been lied to, conned and screwed and still you do not understand! It may or may not be too late now, however, what is certain is one more NATO move and it's over, Yuri!
I hope you choke on Kosovo, 'comrades!' You failed to DECISIVELY stand your LEGAL ground and support your ally when you had the chance. Now it verges on impossible; Albania, Croatia, soon Macedonia, Montenegro then Georgia, do you doubt it?
'Just desserts' for abandoning a close ally and displaying your cowardice to the world. It would have been much simpler and cleaner then! Enjoy the following report -- I can hear the laughter from Strasbourg in Sydney! (story and 1 comment)

Terror as a Tool of Empire
Chris Floyd via krill, Thursday, Apr 2 2009, 10:34am
Here's a purely hypothetical scenario. Let's say you were a dedicated imperial militarist who believed that your country's security, prestige and financial interests could best be served by war and the ever-present threat of war. Let's say you had some really hot and juicy operations going on, endless deadly conflicts that were pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into your war machine and entrenching national policy even more deeply in the militarist philosophy – the machtpolitik – that you believe in. US Military drafted plans to terrorize US cities to provoke war (with Cuba!)
David Ruppe via peate, Friday, Mar 27 2009, 6:44am
In the early 1960s, America's top military leaders reportedly drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba. Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans reportedly included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities.
