Spring Offensive
by gan Thursday, May 29 2008, 10:00am
international / peace/war / opinion/analysis

In an unexpected strategic twist – opinion favoured an offensive during an attack on Iran -- local forces and militias throughout the Middle East and Central Asia are mobilising for a simultaneous and concerted offensive against the American invader/occupier! A coordinated, simultaneous offensive of this type would smash the hold America has on a number of nations in the region. America simply does not have the human resources to respond to such a coordinated offensive. Nor would America’s few allies be willing to fight illegal wars of occupation on America’s behalf!

From the Gulf States through Lebanon, Iraq to Iran and the border regions of Pakistan-Afghanistan; a Spring offensive would see the occupiers ousted from the region or forced to disproportionately respond -- an action that would necessarily involve Russia and China in a proportionate retaliatory response in support of their allies.

America would face a coordinated guerilla campaign on a number of fronts, which it clearly would be unable to sustain. The alternative option of a full-scale indiscriminate response by the U.S. would attract a nuclear strike on continental USA! However, regardless of America’s action the obliteration of Israel would be a certainty!

The Zionists and neo-cons have brought America and Israel to the threshold of WWIII. Their decision will determine their fate; however, we hold little hope for their respective futures -- the world is all too familiar with the belligerence and brutality that characterise these two nations!

The claims made in this report cannot be verified; nevertheless, it seems that U.S. agencies have been caught flat-footed once again. The near future will confirm the accuracy of this report, notwithstanding the feasibility of such a scenario in the present circumstances.

Taliban overrun Afghan district, take 8 police captive
by AP via rialator - IHT Friday, May 30 2008, 8:42am

KABUL, Afghanistan: Taliban militants attacked and captured a remote town from the Afghan government overnight, taking captive the district's government leader and eight police, militants and officials said Friday.

Afghan troops were heading to the district of Roshidan in Ghazni province, but as of midday Friday it was still under Taliban control, said Kazim Allayer, the deputy governor of Ghazni province.

Taliban militants have in the past briefly overrun remote district centers before Afghan or NATO forces again pushed the militants out. But insurgents also control several areas in southern Afghanistan, particularly in Helmand province.

Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, said militants attacked Rashidan on Thursday night and captured eight police and the local government leader, whom he identified as Ghulam Shah.

A Taliban commander who spoke to AP Television News in Rashidan said the militants would ambush Afghan troops who tried to retake the town. The commander did not give his name, and he and other fighters wore scarves around their faces. The Taliban burned two police vehicles and part of the government center, the AP video showed.

Rashidan is a district far off the main highway that circles Afghanistan and is about 65 miles southwest of Kabul, the capital.

Elsewhere, the U.S.-led coalition said several militants were killed and 16 detained on Thursday during an operation in Ghazni's Andar district. The coalition said the forces targeted a militant leader who facilitated "foreign fighters" and roadside bomb attacks. The coalition did not say how many militants were killed during the raid.

A coalition service member was killed near the southwestern town of Farah on Thursday, the coalition said Friday. No additional details, including the service member's nationality, were released.
