Need we wonder why the modern age is now a global insane asylum and worsening by the day? This is the reward for a population that would passively accept flagrant hypocrisy, contradiction and deception from the institutions that are supposedly the custodians of the highest ideals of society. Apathy, selfishness, lack of vigilance, denial, fear and our cowardice are to blame. These ‘noble’ qualities have allowed the situation to deteriorate to its present state. Faced with the breakdown of the institutions of morality, should we remain passive or do we change course for the better?

The failure of mainstream religion in the modern age is complete. The major religions all profess brotherly love and peace yet what we see around us is hatred, war, terror and division.

Religious (and political) institutions are centres of hypocrisy, perversion, corruption and deceit. It is not necessary to labour the point; anyone who seeks verification can visit their nearest public library where they will find accounts of genocide and other appalling deeds, all committed in the name of God. Soldiers of ‘God’ killing men, women, children and suckling infants then plundering the resources that remain. The following quote illustrates the point:

Joshua 6:
21"And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword…24.And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD."

The above quote is taken from a scriptural text that also contains a commandment not to kill! Is the Creator of this universe fickle, self-contradicting, an avaricious banker or a mass murderer? I think not, we are left to conclude that men under the orders of men committed these atrocities.

The extreme hypocrisy of another religion becomes evident when we examine one specific theme, that of wealth. The texts of that religion are emphatic on one point, that the rich have no hope of salvation! Yet the institutions of that religion are exceedingly wealthy! They also have a recorded history of seeking wealth at the expense of the poor and weak. Another major religion obtains monies and goods on the pretext of eliminating sins or demerits – a salvation by purchase scheme. This is done in clear contradiction to the founder of that religion who rejected his wealth and status as a prince in order to achieve liberation. Leaders of another major religion brandish automatic weapons while teaching hate in their houses of worship!

Need we wonder why the modern age is now a global insane asylum and worsening by the day? This is the reward for a population that would passively accept flagrant hypocrisy, contradiction and deception from the institutions that are supposedly the custodians of the highest ideals of society. We are all confronted with a personal challenge to restore sanity to our world. If we accept this challenge, harmonious constructive forces would engender a vibrant new social model that would displace the degenerate religions and other destructive forces in society.

It is clear that we are facing an evolutionary challenge whether we like it or not. Our leaders have failed us and are now part of the problem. We all have a responsibility to each other and our planet. The complex issues of the present era cannot be solved by the few. The days of leaders and saviours are over; a unified effort from all is required in order to avoid destruction. We possess the means required to meet this challenge; they are the noble qualities of the human spirit. If you have forgotten what they are, learn them from children who have not been terrorised or abused. As we each reform ourselves there is less support for destructive influences to take root in the society at large. The choice is ours.

We are ONE
