At what cost the LIES we tolerate?

international / social/political / opinion/analysis

Few societies today believe in their governments, in fact most people view their governments as criminal! Few people trust or believe their political leaders especially in view of the implausible explanations offered for highly questionable events such as 9/11, Iraq WMD and the anthrax letters. We all remember Colin Powell's academy award winning performance at the UN, which resulted in a shift of opinion in favour of pre-emptive war. Today we know EVERYTHING Powell said was a LIE yet we tolerate it! Should we then expect a person like Cheney to desist from his loathsome criminal activities?

Rumours abound that Powell was deceived and that he is a good guy but not a word of accusation or an offer of incriminating evidence from Republican Colin!

Powell would doubtless be in possession of some very compromising information, enough I would suggest, to see numerous Bushites in jail. But dead silence from our Colin! A soldier’s code is to honour and protect his nation/people; incriminating the Bush regime would effectively render a huge service to the community, so please, save the bullshit about military men protecting presidents. Ask any military person for clarification, the military code is to protect the NATION and people -- the President and VP are expendable; how much more so if they are criminals?

Major events affecting a nation tend to diminish the lies and deceptions we accept daily from our political leaders; nevertheless, a lie remains a lie regardless of its SIZE! Should we be shocked or wonder why assassinations (JFK) and the above MAJOR events occur if we accept/tolerate a multitude of lesser lies and deceptions – where does it end?

What price an innocent child’s life? Is all the oil in Iraq worth the life of just one innocent child, notwithstanding the thousands that have died as a direct consequence of Bush’s lying war?

Answers to some of these questions reveal much about our nation its values, our leaders AND OURSELVES.

The latest outrageous lies pertain to Georgia and its attack on the people of South Ossetia. Regardless of all the claims and counter claims, Georgian president Saakashvili, cannot escape the hard FACT that he targeted civilians – a flagrant war crime! Hundreds if not thousands of civilians were intentionally targeted and killed for POLITICAL REASONS. There were no military targets in Tskhinvali. Are we offended by this action, do we hear demands for Saakashvili’s arrest and surrender to the Hague?

The collaborative Western media are loath to mention Saakashvili’s unprovoked attack on CIVILIANS; they’re far too busy propagating dis/misinformation.

Should Murdoch and other media magnates join the war criminals in the dock – in a sense they’re far more culpable than politicians and the military? Should we allow accessories to murder to go unpunished?

The price of inaction is clear. Recent events have highlighted the contempt our leaders have for their respective populations. They have brazenly ‘advertised’ the very low value they place on our lives! And still we continue to tolerate horrendous crimes against the people.

The public seems to relish all the obvious LIES, inconsistencies, contradictions and outright frauds perpetrated by our leaders. If we fail to act should we protest when we are chosen to die?

We should have known when Bush referred to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution as “pieces of paper!”

The next life to be lost could be yours! [You could hardly complain.]

The prospect of a detonation in a major American city is far higher today than ever before, WHY? Who do YOU suppose is responsible?
