Sedition and Opportunity

Real democracies are populated with active not passive citizens; passivity is characteristic of totalitarian and other oppressive regimes. Prior to any government or ruling body eliminating hard-won liberties and circumventing constitutional rights, the population must necessarily become timid, fearful, apathetic and passive. How simple it becomes to harness and manipulate such a population!

New sedition laws are unconstitutional!

Law students would not have difficulty proving a case and obtaining compensation from those who would abuse our traditional democratic rights. In the unlikely event that the Labor Premiers fail to come to their senses and denounce Howard’s exercise as a political sham, the option would then fall directly to the foundation members of the democracy – the Australian people. At every opportunity offer yourselves for arrest by denouncing the Howard government. Continue in this action until the gaols overflow and the world is left in no doubt regarding the identity of the real criminals perpetrating an assault on democracy. Failure to act would result in the loss of freedoms and liberties enjoyed since the abolition of colonial government.

Do not engage in blame-games or whinge and whine look to yourself and act in the same way your forefathers did when they removed the shackles of oppression and eliminated those who would have enslaved them. Today we all have the opportunity to practice democracy and actively participate in our respective societies – there is no one to blame but ourselves if we allow malevolent forces to once again enslave us. Failure to act would consign the entire population to a repressive and retrograde existence. I need not continue with words – it is time for action.
