Not Good, America

international / social/political / opinion/analysis

Commentators constantly bemoan America’s new fascist direction and spend much time and MISPLACED energy writing reams and reams of material against the new AMERICAN FASCISM. This obsessive and linear endeavour has a very dangerous consequence; it has blinded the commentators and the people to the groundswell of discontent rapidly growing in nations that have not been SUBJECTED to the constant mis/disinformation characteristic of the American mass media.

Discontent with America has taken on a dynamism that could today be regarded as ferocity; nothing new you say, however, I REFER to WESTERN populations!

It seems that toleration of American lies and injustices has worn thin, especially after figures of the civilian death toll in post-invasion Iraq and DRONE-bombed Afghanistan were released by highly respected sources -- the Lancet and the Johns Hopkins studies are the most credible. These studies conservatively put post-invasion civilian deaths at well over three quarters of a million! If these figures were updated today the result would shock even the most right wing commentators. No one can justify over a million innocent lives lost to American INCOMPETENCE, GREED and BRUTALITY!

Removing a dictator from power, occupying the land and killing five times more civilians than the previous dictator could hardly be described as a success story by anyone with the least humanity or conscience; notwithstanding the appropriation, by invading forces, of the occupied nation’s natural wealth!

In view of ALL the cold, hard, brutal, facts, it appears that America has earned the revulsion of the entire civilised world!

As an indication/measure of this emerging new attitude, I would relate a recent experience involving a group of Aussies openly debating the history of American war and other crimes against humanity:

Emerging from a supermarket into in a crowded shopping mall one evening, I couldn't help but overhear a mixed group of Australians engaged in a heated debate regarding impunity and ongoing American war crimes. This mixed group of locals, which included a security guard, were passionately expressing their very open hostility toward America in the most public of social spaces. One of the debaters, after citing the four million innocent civilians killed during the Indo-Chinese war and the two hundred and thirty thousand -- a quarter of the tiny nation's population -- slaughtered in a CIA supported Indonesian invasion of East Timor, openly stated that if given the means and opportunity, he would “press the button” on the entire American population, "without a second thought!"

The response from the others was more interesting than the astounding threat, as if silently acknowledging US culpability, not one person argued the point! It seems supporting mass murdering nations in public is no longer in favour among INFORMED Australians!

The USA has clearly run out of excuses and justifications for its now flagrantly FASCIST, mass murdering, 'new' direction.

Regardless of the effluent that constantly pours from mass media outlets, it seems that sentiments ‘on the ground’ are taking their own direction. I would add that popular discontent is now so widespread and informed that we could anticipate real-world ‘adjustments’ in the not too distant future.

Meanwhile, divorced from reality UNREPRESENTATIVE ruling elites continue to live in their own private CFRs!

Have a nice 'divorced' day, America!

American war crimes have a long history
