(Modern Christian Hypocrisy)

Irrespective of the particular religious hypocrisy to which believers may subscribe, the Christian period of Easter occupies centre stage at present; it’s hypocrisy time for modern Christians and in particular their leaders. It’s time (in the face of war, famine, injustice, pollution, inequity etc) to hear from the normally disengaged leaders of the various Christian sects and churches. It is show time but not action time for the hypocrites that lead their congregations by example – practical commitment to the principles of their faith is sorely lacking.

As the earth’s climate reels from the effects of pollution, western nations collaborate in criminal invasions of weaker nations to plunder and steal precious resources. The starving poor of humankind die in neglect and abandon; is anyone his brother’s keeper today? Perhaps the self-confessed born-again Evangelical president of the USA, G W Bush, might lend a Christian ear to the sounds of despair, but it seems he is preoccupied with oil, war and the collateral killing of innocents. This Evangelical president who openly lied to evade his responsibility after the devastation caused by Katrina, is the model Christian of the modern age.

The present era is a man-made hell, a fitting harvest for the inverted values of today’s religious groups – there is only one real mass religion on the planet today, and that is worship at the posterior of the God of hypocrisy. Not one mainstream religion adheres to the principles upon which it was founded yet the new hypocrisy (adorned with the apparel of sanctity) is a booming business and growing political force across the globe. Mindless, desperate and lost masses flock to these waterless canals to bathe in grit and dust and participate in the shared delusion of their respective beliefs.

Religion today is masochism exteriorised as social aggression in order to alleviate the internal anxiety, horror and agony that perverted beliefs create.

If or when we witness religious leaders calling their congregations to oppose war, depose scurrilous and dishonest national leaders and promote peace, equity and the unification of humanity, we may then celebrate the victory of Life over death.

The will to Life is irresistible, inexhaustible and constantly available. Creation is Life and it is continuous, make your choice and never allow anyone to make that choice on your behalf; they may choose your death and feign it is a prize of great value!
