Polarisation

The people of the free world have not forgotten the citizens of America who oppose the ultra-right-wing regime of Bush. A similar situation occurred in Nazi Germany with the rise of another madman to power. The population became polarised; however, those with a conscience were swept along with the fanatics to the ruin of all. Failure to act against the regime in the early stages resulted in a greater calamity for the entire nation. Let it not happen again. It is never too late to alter the course of a nation with concerted effort from those in opposition.

The similarities of today’s America and the Third Reich are now almost identical (notwithstanding the present world context.) It would be the height of folly to ignore the lessons of history.

America was born of civil disobedience (against the imperialist British.) The national character was formed in the ferment of a civil war against greed and avaricious interests. Americans should not find it difficult to act for the good of all. It is in the national character (and national interest) to fight against injustice, exploitation and oppression. The greater victory today however, lies not in violence but rather in the supremely effective peaceful resistance utilised by Gandhi. There are no counter-measures against the peaceful will of the people; history testifies of the demise of those who confront peace with violence.

Bush has created a contractive culture and a national economic disaster in world record time. No national leader in history has estranged so many nations (and allies) as efficiently as Bush – with the exception of Israel, America now stands alone. The most telling indication of isolation is the behaviour of America’s well-known lackey, John Howard of Australia, who recently signed a new economic agreement with his ASEAN neighbours. Howard’s move affirms Australia’s new commitment to China and his final recognition of the geopolitics of the region. Japan was also a signatory. Both nations have indirectly acknowledged the East as the new economic powerhouse of the world. International financial institutions are already entrenched in the region. The lies of the neo-cons and Bush are now falling on deaf ears; even Blair, who is primarily concerned with how (harshly) history will treat him, has fallen strangely silent.

Under the leadership of Bush, America has become the opposite of what it once represented. Yet the will to equality, justice and freedom (for all) lies dormant in the people. Let it not remain so; the world supports the people not the rabid lunatics who have hijacked a once proud nation whose ideals were a beacon for the oppressed of the world. With the exception of the sycophants, fanatics and murderers in the US administration, there is no one left to resign except Bush’s pet dog.

It is now time to act or suffer the consequences of inaction. The simplest and most effective action available to all is the withdrawal of support – The Will to Peace is irresistible.
