New Year’s Memorandum

Memo to the present US Administration:

In view of the following quote, just how long do you think your lies and deceit will prevail?

"I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crises. The great point is to bring them the real facts." (Abraham Lincoln)

Beware the kangaroo court (ICC) at the Hague doesn’t become a people’s court that puts you all in the dock for crimes against humanity. The people are not duped for long, if at all. The precedent for bringing all state leaders to justice has been set. The two-edged sword you have drawn cuts both ways.

Why have you been loath to inform the people of the "real facts" of your recent military interventions? Is it perhaps that you knew you would have virtually no support and that you feared that one day you would be held accountable?

Schoolchildren delighted in your ‘genius’ logic of the existence WMDs: "We know Saddam has WMDs." "Well, where are they?" "We don’t know." "Well then, how do you know he has them?" "Because he just does!" [Rumsfeld.] Joseph Goebbels, from whom you took your lead, was a far better liar. Even so, look what happened to him!

Let’s not forget Cheney, who went to great pains attempting to connect 9/11 to Saddam, another very bad lie. And of course there was Condy, who dashed around supporting both the Zionist and Oil camps, while Karl Rove was frantically tweaking the strings and pasting more paper mache on Bush’s face.

You will note the accompanying "bouquet of flowers" sent to Wolfowitz from the people of Iraq, who also request his presence for dinner. Please also note the card from Tel Aviv, which reads, "Thank you for all the help, Sharon."

Then there’s Ashy and the leaders of the ‘Christian right,’ whose fanatical zeal equals that of the Bin Laden camp. Apologies for not giving you the treatment you deserve. But it’s only a short memo. Take comfort in the fact that your names continually burn in the minds of the people and will no doubt also burn in the pages of history.

Please distribute this memo at the next prayer meeting in the White House. It’s comforting to know that you are all in our thoughts.
