World religious leaders (hypocrites) shamed by Burmese monks

YANGON, Myanmar – The past week has seen defiant Burmese Buddhist monks take to the streets chanting peace and demanding social change in military controlled Myanmar (Burma). It seems the religious ideal is not dead after all. [Shame on Jewish, Muslim, and Christian religious leaders who support blood, guts and war -- SHAME ON YOU HYPOCRITES!]

People tend to forget that prince Siddhartha (aka Buddha, Gautama, Sakyamuni) was a passionate social reformer -- as was his Middle Eastern spiritual protégé, Jesus Christ. Both men were thorough pragmatic realists, neither believed in the impossible -- levitation or rising from the dead! Yep, western religion today is a disease; it serves to congregate mental cripples, lamers, cowards and violent pathological personalties. The message of LOVE/PEACE as espoused by their founders is no longer welcome or embraced – as is clearly EVIDENT today.

After prince Siddhartha achieved CLARITY (enlightenment) he immediately embarked on a campaign of social reform. He relentlessly attacked the parasitic practices of the Brahmin elites of his time. He loathed money and material wealth as did his protégé, Jesus Christ. Both MEN attracted a following for the simple reason their philosophy of camaraderie and mutual support appeals to the innate nature of human beings – contrast the competitive, capitalist, miserable, alienated, INDIVIDUAL of today!

The Burmese military is faced with the only force that is able to challenge its corrupt rule, Buddhism! Monks have already refused religious offerings from members of the military; this in effect condemns the refused to ‘hell,’ as they are unable to expiate their sins/de-merits – in the west this would amount to excommunication. In Buddhist nations to be prevented from nullifying de-merits is an extremely serious matter.

The military unwisely attempted to disperse a demonstration by firing over the heads of protesting peaceful monks. Inexperienced youthful monks took hostage a delegation sent to apologise and negotiate; they were later released unharmed but protest activity against the junta increased in intensity and scope.

Burmese Buddhist monks may yet accomplish the single successful theocratic revolution of our time. The violent aspirations of Christians, Muslims and Jews stand in bloody contrast to Buddhist aspirations in Burma. Perhaps returning to the peaceful teachings of their respective leaders would enable the lost religions of the west to once again embrace the unity and mutually supportive teachings of their founders.

It is said that the Buddha replied to a question regarding the essential nature of his teaching with the simple answer that his entire message amounted to “good fellowship!”

In solidarity with our Burmese brothers we stand as ONE.
