“If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him!”

international / theology / opinion/analysis

The title is also my favourite adage pertaining to what some people mistakenly refer to as a religion. The major religions are structured, social/political organisations administered and led by men. In contrast Buddhism kills the principal object that may become an idol or object of veneration. It thereby protects itself from the corruption that has made the world’s ‘great religions’ a FARCE and a gathering place for idiots, slaves, fools and manipulators!

A savvy, chain-smoking Swami (Vivekananda) once said of God, ‘God does not play hide and seek.’ By nature God is imminent and immediate and is therefore immediately apprehensible! Religious leaders who treat ‘God’ as distant or unattainable in this life are either liars or deluded – put simply, if God exists then it is everyone’s privilege to know that God, NOW!’

Vivekananda is of course correct, what a thorough absurdity it is to forfeit one’s immediate existence/life for a promise made by men that things will be better after you’re dead! Think about that for a minute – only the feeble of mind believe empty, unverifiable promises.

By destroying the object of veneration Buddhism frees itself from the enslaving conceptions, delusions and strange imaginings that plague other religions. A mind that is not encumbered or enslaved by conceptions or constrained by the doctrines of men becomes a fertile ground for freedom and happiness. The unencumbered mind is pre-requisite for achieving clarity and real freedom – remember FREEDOM is a conditional term of release. Where religion enslaves, Buddhism liberates and releases the mind thereby enabling continuous BEING!

But the challenge is of course yours, make your play, slave or free; it’s a matter of choice not faith or hope – only fools rely on faith. Belief, however, is a product of KNOWLEDGE and knowledge results from emptying the mind, not cramming it with cultural garbage.

So you see why it is important to always kill the concept/symbol/object of veneration as soon as it appears. Another easier cure exists for Christians. According to their ‘Holy’ text a believer or real Christian is known by certain characteristics one of which is the ability to drink poisons without suffering ill effect. How simple that absurd religion of fools makes it to rid the world of Christian murderers and hypocrites – simply offer them a glass of poison to drink in order to verify their status as believers. Refusal to ingest poison carries with it the stigma of loathsome hypocrite, fake religion or both.

Mark 16: 17-18 - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing [poison], it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Would be impressive if true – glass of cyanide anyone?

“The worst form of delusion is self-delusion and the most amenable slave is one who thinks he is free.”
