Australian government’s infantile dependence

It seems America is desperate to get Oz on board with its more theological than technological missile defence shield. However, Americans always give the game away with overkill – the flight manual in Arabic conveniently left at Boston airport (9/11) followed by US military supplied (oops) anthrax letters are notable examples of American (idiot) overkill.

The latest effort -- designed to impress the uninformed – is the destruction of a ‘crippled’ (propaganda) satellite in lower space by a missile launched from an American naval vessel. For sceptics and analysts America (and China) only proved they are able to home in on one of their own signature beacons and destroy a target in lower space -- if only the enemy was so obliging! Striking an enemy object in space equipped with counter-measures is not so easy, in fact at this stage it is impossible – for all nations, I might add!

I do not wish to piss on anyone’s parade only in the face of bald-faced liars and spin-doctors.

America is a nation in tailspin, its economy is supported by the good will of others, as no wealth is evident in its own financial institutions; America's military misadventures and breaches of law and convention have earned it the unenviable title of pariah – no one anywhere is in any doubt which nation is the most hated in the world.

It is in the current political climate the American Defence Secretary visits Australia desperate to install missile defence systems on local soil – we can be sure, however, that Australia will be conveniently uninformed of the real purpose and capability of these systems.

A report from the BBC on the 21st February, states, “The US defence secretary has said that the shooting down of a disabled spy satellite with a missile shows the country's missile defence system works. Robert Gates said the operation "speaks for itself", adding the US was prepared to share some technology with China.”

It is clear Robert Gates is using the missile event to sell his defence shield and convince others that the technology “works” when in fact shooting one’s own technology proves nothing. In view of the very thin evidence available, Australia has agreed to adopt the controversial missile defence technology.

It is clear that Aussie politicians are the most naive in the world. Consider the ‘blind’ and exceedingly gullible purchase of sub-standard Hornet Jet fighters by Brendan Nelson, now add the ‘hook, line and sinker’ satellite event and soon our politicians will be buying the Harbour Bridge!

Nelson purchased the inadequate jet fighters for top dollar with a penalty clause included and now Smith is falling over himself to take the yanks at their word AGAIN!

The UK, France, China and Russia, all manufacture high quality jet fighters – did our Defence Ministers bother to compare performance and price with capability? No, they kow-towed to the yanks without question – sickening!

To compound the error and demonstrate their disgustingly slavish attitude to the yanks, Labor has reversed its previous very sound policy on the controversial missile defence system, which it described only last year as, ".. technically questionable, costly and likely to be counterproductive". Labor added that the missile defence could "derail world progress towards nuclear disarmament and have serious consequences for Australia's national security".

Labor was right the first time!

The current government is proving to be more spineless and servile than the last, and we all thought that would be impossible!
