France set to replace failed Australia as ‘manager’ of Western Pacific
by barra Wednesday, Sep 17 2008, 2:42am
international / imperialism / commentary

We have seen Australia fail in Tonga, PNG, Vanuatu, Solomons, Fiji and of course the oil rich Timor-Leste – America and other nations view Oz’s ‘efforts’ in the region as lamentable, and rightly so! Would anyone expect any different from servile Prime Ministers, John Howard and Kevin Rudd – answer in a nutshell?

Defence Ministers, Fitzgibbon and Morin
Defence Ministers, Fitzgibbon and Morin

When strong, independent leadership is lacking other powers move in and offer ‘assistance!’ Placed in the background of today’s news is a report of France forging closer ties with the ADF and allowing the Australian Navy to access one of its colonial -- New Caledonia -- naval outposts. An interesting turn of events to say the least.

It should not be forgotten that France admitted responsibility for the first state sponsored terrorist act in the region – I refer to the sinking of the Rainbow Warrior and murder of one of its crew in Auckland on July 10, 1985. The Greenpeace flagship was due to lead a flotilla of protest vessels to Muroroa Atoll where the French were conducting nuclear tests on unsuitable, structurally unsound, coral atolls – the arrogant French would rather irradiate our backyard than their own!

Readers would be happy to learn that ‘highly skilled’ DGSE French saboteurs, after placing charges and sinking the Rainbow Warrior, landed ashore in their wetsuits and drove off in a hire van; much to the affront of locals who took down license numbers, which later led to the arrest of the saboteurs and assassins! Another 'successful' covert operation by French fuckwits, who seem to be competing with the CIA for most imbecilic security agency in the world.

The Rainbow Warrior scandal went all the way to the then French president’s office; François Mitterrand was forced to admit responsibility on the world stage! The French would be well advised to confine their ‘expertise’ to cheese and winemaking and leave geo-political affairs and covert operations to those with proven track records!

However, France’s abysmal record hasn’t deterred Aussie defence minister, Joel Fitzgibbon from forming a cooperative relationship with French military geniuses -- on Washington’s orders of course!

I have nothing more to add except that you people are pathetic; it’s a wonder you still know how to breathe!

We can hardly wait for the next ‘cooperative’ fuckup. You can back it in!

And you thought Howard's resurrection of racist policies came without a price -- WELL, the dark skinned Pacific has been lost to China and other Asian nations!

You were warned numerous times but short-term political expediency 'won' the day. So, gentlemen what actually have you 'won' -- you mindless, opportunistic, morons?

Perhaps we should ask Downer to foment revolution in Fiji again -- from the safety of his office in Adelaide -- give us a break you incompetent, gutless wonders.

Are you listening Cosgrove, you right wing lackey?

'Advance Australian RACISM!'

Arrest Howard, Keelty, Andrews and Ruddock over the Haneef scandal if you would redeem yourselves, Oz! But we know you are incapable of justice and fair play, you disgusting cowards.

We also note that Washington has ordered the ‘brave men’ in parliament not to honour its previous commitment to sell uranium to Russia -- well done, slaves.

How do you hope to have any influence in the region when you are an international laughing stock?

It may be time to demand the arrest of the Balibo murderers, gutless Rudd. Remember how the Indonesians rubbed it in your face at the Bali summit – WHILE THE WHOLE WORLD WAS WATCHING? Bashir and the Bali bombers mocked the innocent Aussie dead (unforgivable) and had a great time laughing at you, Mr Kevin ‘useless’ Rudd!

Good luck Australia, you have precious little going for you at the moment. We need not remind you that the population is screaming for strong, INDEPENDENT leadership.

Thanks for all the help, you snivelling whimps!

Dumbfuck Aussies do it again

[First dog pens now killing local governors in Afghanistan -- I'm sorry to report that Aussies are fighting like moron Americans. Ed]

AUSTRALIAN special forces troops in Afghanistan have accidentally killed a district governor and two of his bodyguards in a botched raid that will pose a further setback to the battle against the Taliban insurgency.

The provincial police chief, General Juma Gulab Khan, confirmed last night that Australian troops in the southern province of Oruzgan had surrounded a house they suspected of harbouring Taliban fighters and shot a district chief, Rozi Khan.

He said Rozi Khan, a former police chief, had gone to the house of a friend who thought his house was surrounded by Taliban militants. In fact, the house had been surrounded by Australian troops

The Defence Force said of the incident last night that special forces troops may have accidentally killed several Afghan police near the provincial capital, Tarin Kowt, but had been returning fire in self-defence.

"After being fired upon from a number of locations the [special forces] patrol returned fire in self-defence," a statement said.

"Although the facts are not clear at present, it is possible that a number of Afghan police may have been killed."

General Khan told the Herald that two bodyguards were killed and another two injured in the firefight.

No Australians were injured in the incident.

The botched raid comes just days after the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, General David McKiernan, called for a review of the use of lethal force after the deaths of scores of civilians in a series of controversial attacks.

The attacks have caused growing tension between the Afghan Government and the Western forces.

A Defence spokesman said last night the details remained unclear but the incident was under investigation.

"The Australian Defence Force takes all such incidents very seriously and is conducting an assessment to clarify the circumstances of the attack," he said.

"The ADF will work closely with [the international forces] and Afghan authorities both in Oruzgan province and in Kabul to investigate this matter."

Rozi Khan was the district governor of Chora district, a former mujahideen commander and an influential tribal leader.

But General Khan denied Defence reports that the other men killed were policemen.

Three policemen in Uruzgan were killed when a bomb hit their patrol in Oruzgan on Thursday, he said, adding that no other casualties were caused by Australian troops.

The Afghan President, Harmid Karzai, expressed sorrow over the killing, which he called a "misunderstanding," and said the district chief had been a close associate.

Last November, two women and a baby were killed in a battle between Australian forces and the Taliban.

In the wake of a recent US airstrike on a village that accidentally killed as many as 92 civilians, the US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates, personally apologised and President Karzai called for new rules of engagement.

A UN report this week said the number of civilians killed in the conflict had risen 40 per cent this year to 1445, with about 45 per cent blamed on Afghan and Western forces.

Mr Gates said this week that the US Government was planning to send extra troops to the country next year.

General McKiernan said on Tuesday he needed more than 10,000 extra combat troops to fight the growing insurgency.
