In Plain Sight - International Social/Political

The old guard was caught with its corrupt pants down as is vividly evident with the exposure of the criminal Bush regime and to a lesser extent its junior partners in crime – the Blair and Howard regimes. Try as they might these three thoroughly corrupt regimes have been unable to hide their crimes from the people. The whole world is in no doubt regarding the truth of the Iraq invasion – OIL, at any cost!

The escalating civilian death toll (the mass media is at constant pains to avoid) incriminates the coalition of willing criminals on a daily basis; the recent travesty of Saddam’s trial and execution also bears testimony to the power of independent channels of communication. Capitalism is falling on the sword that it so expertly forged, and corporate media may be its first major casualty. An increasingly cynical public no longer swallows the meaningless slogans, lies and distractions offered them as ‘news’ by the corporate media, oligarchies are crumbling as we speak – see how they run!

Traditional methods of propaganda clearly fail in today's world, a fact that is lost on the old guard who continue to subscribe to outmoded methods – not even Goebbels would utilise techniques that he perfected in today’s world of open communication! It should not be forgotten that the ideologues responsible for the present fiasco in Iraq and the calamitous course America is taking originated in Nazi Germany, I refer to mass murderer and adviser to Presidents, Henry Kissinger, and the father of neo-con ideology, Leo Strauss.

The bleating of Condoleezza Rice, Dick Cheney and the idiot President, Dubya Bush, regarding spreading 'democracy' in the Middle East doesn’t ‘wash’ with anyone, in fact their lies only serve to highlight the contempt the neo-cons have for the public. The cheap slogans, lies and distracting tactics characteristic of neo-cons are not capable of hiding the TRUTH or countering the information available on alternative media. Furthermore, the lack of integrity displayed by the mass media has actually pushed the population to other sources for their information.

Pure capitalist greed propelled Bill Gates to inadvertently subvert traditional methods of social control; however, if the ‘glue’ that held the culture together was an amalgam of lies, corruption and fabrication, then ‘the evil emperor’, Bill Gates, may have done the nation a service.

The corporate monopoly of news material/information is at an end; today, WE KNOW of oil wars, Saddam and kangaroo injustice, criminal detention centres, American officers (Watada) refusing to serve in an illegal war, corporate plunder at any cost, all via alternative media.

Capitalism has become a difficult to handle two-edged sword that would sacrifice its host nation if ineptly handled; indeed, profit, greed and selfish pursuits have no national allegiances! The conservatives have lost the plot but THE PEOPLE ARE SHOUTING FROM THE ROOFTOPS, can you hear? They speak (digitally) of the demise of antiquated ways and the arrest of corrupt criminal leaders; there is no turning back! The ‘colt’ (from old regret) has already bolted.

Western culture is reaping the effects of free market capitalism and the unexpected subversion of traditional systems of social control (“say goodbye to Hollywood!”) Obscene concentrations of wealth in the fewest possible hands are choking the economy, collapse is imminent; divest immediately if you would not lose what little you have. Capitalism is constricting itself like a demented boa; the critical movement of funds has slowed to dangerous levels. In relative terms it has almost achieved stasis and that spells DOOM in financial circles.

The New Year has also heralded the breakdown of law order; if it’s ‘good for the goose, it’s good for the gander’. Corrupt leadership forgot to consider the social ramifications of thieving, killing and lying IN FULL VIEW/SIGHT OF THE WORLD! There will be social hell to pay! Conscience is a thing of the past; never forget, in democratic systems our leaders are our example.

The slippery slide to destruction is always assisted by brainless religionists and fanatics, Evangelicals, Zionists and Wahhabists would sell us all a one-way ticket to oblivion – their nihilistic 'Gods' demand it!

I am drifting into song, which indicates the departure of the muse, so I will attempt to grasp the hem of her garment and leave you all with the news of the second:

Australian Democrats Senator Natasha Stott Despoja wants the Federal Government to support a cross-party delegation to visit Guantanamo Bay detainee David Hicks.

Senator Stott Despoja and another South Australian Senator, Labor's Linda Kirk, are among a group of parliamentarians who will seek to visit Mr Hicks this year.

The terrorism suspect will next week begin his sixth year of detention at the US military facility and is yet to be charged.

Senator Stott Despoja says similar delegations from other countries have visited the facility.

"Why is it that the United Kingdom and the United States who don't have constituents in Guantanamo Bay, why have they had cross-party delegations visit Guantanamo Bay?" she said.

"Isn't it time we had a cross-party delegation of Australian politicians to visit our constituent David Hicks?"

Senator Stott Despoja says the Australian has the right to be represented by his local senators.

"His defence team is quite willing for us to visit him in Guantanamo Bay, yet Senator Kirk's application has been rejected in the past," she said.

"We will be attempting to seek permission again this year to ensure that we have access to a man who is one of our constituents."

Mr Hicks, originally from Adelaide, has been held at Guantanamo Bay since 2002.

The convert to Islam was captured in Afghanistan where he allegedly fought alongside the ruling Taliban against US-led forces who invaded after the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

The US charged him with conspiracy, attempted murder by an unprivileged belligerent and aiding the enemy.

But the charges were dropped earlier this year, after the US Supreme Court ruled it was unlawful for the US military commission to try Mr Hicks.
