Take another squint, ‘merica!

international / injustice/law / commentary

A few choice expressions from the recent past; “cakewalk,” “mission accomplished,” ‘bouquets of flowers,” “we know Saddam has WMD because he just has,” “unknown knowns,” “global war,” “America does not torture,” “enhanced interrogation,” “Gitmo,” “military commissions,” “Patriot Act,” “Homeland Security,” “domestic surveillance” and “extended executive powers” etc. The result; over one million dead civilians, war costs that can’t be accurately calculated, a crippled economy and an international reputation in the gutter!

But the most outrageous and intolerable situation is that we are expected to allow the perpetrators of these calamities and crimes to walk free -- give me break! We inherit a ruined nation, economy, international hostility, an obscenely wealthy executive class and we are prevailed upon NOT TO SEEK JUSTICE – are you people nuts?

Allow me to add perspective to the situation. Only a few decades past an American president faced impeachment over his involvement in a break and enter – Watergate! Compare that relative misdemeanour with a holocaust in Iraq and ask yourselves where you LOST YOUR MORALITY, VALUES and SPINE!

If the Obama administration ignores its legal responsibilities and allows self-confessed criminals to walk free then it is clearly part of the problem.

Whatever malaise plagues the American people, be assured it’s peculiar to America!
