text Greatest opportunity since War of Independence major mitchell, Friday, Jul 18 2008, 11:36pm
The founding fathers shared the fear that commercial or other self-serving interests would one day hijack their new democratic Republic. [Current circumstances in the U.S. prove these fears were not unfounded]. Provisions were encoded in the Constitution and Bill of Rights to safeguard the fledgling democracy and ensure it remained free of commercially destructive, self-serving interests. The right of citizens to bear arms allowed for a ready militia or citizen’s army that could march on the Capital at short notice if the need arose. The RIGHT to bear arms was NOT designed for personal defence it was designed for NATIONAL DEFENCE AGAINST AN INTERNAL ENEMY! (story and 1 comment)

text An Open Letter to the Chief Prosecutor of the ICC David Swanson via rialator, Friday, Jul 18 2008, 9:33am
Dear Chief Prosecutor,

Congratulations on your request for an arrest warrant for the president of Sudan. When the rule of law cannot be justly enforced within a nation, it must be enforced internationally. In that regard, I would like to recommend that you seek an arrest warrant for the president of my nation, the United States of America. I have read your letter of February 9, 2006, in which you decline to seek prosecution of George W. Bush, and I believe new evidence compels another review.

text Inept Oz governments attempt to avoid scrutiny/accountability quin, Friday, Jul 18 2008, 1:00am
The following example pertains to Australia, however, it easily applies to other developed nations today. The report principally highlights attempts by scurrilous politicians, incompetent governments and regulatory authorities to avoid scrutiny and accountability. If the truth of bungling, incompetence, treasonous activity and downright criminality was made public those involved would spend the rest of their remaining years in jail or at the very least disgraced and ostracised by civil society. turncoat and nutter image Lost Republic: America normalises War budgie, Wednesday, Jul 16 2008, 9:57pm
Normalisation, in the social context, means taken as natural/accepted/given, something NOT unusual, foreign or affronting! Who would have ever imagined that WAR would be normalised in the USA? Yet Republican candidate, John McCain, boasts and utilises WAR rhetoric as a campaign strategy to WIN THE PRESIDENCY! “I know how to win wars,” he boasts, notwithstanding the fact there is no evidence to support his demented claim! Nevertheless, his insane ranting is accepted by the community as ‘normal’ – the FACT he is running for the HIGHEST OFFICE in the land confirms the grotesque cultural transformation America has undergone in the last eight years. Criminals image Bush’s America, ruination and desolation nano, Wednesday, Jul 16 2008, 1:48am
Independent analysts and commentators could all laugh a satisfying laugh and sing the refrain of ‘we told you so,’ if we weren’t committed professionals dedicated to serving the PUBLIC interest. Few citizens today need convincing that the Bush regime is the most incompetent in U.S. history. In a few short years Bush’s mindless ‘management’ and aggressive policies have bankrupted the nation and ostracised the world. The economy has been thoroughly ruined, it is now beyond recovery in its old form. If it is to survive it must first die! (story and 2 comments and 1 image)

text Quiet, please! Ursula Sautter and Mary Pinkowish via quill, Tuesday, Jul 15 2008, 10:44am
A leaf blower, snow blower, lawn mower and two huge dogs—Peter D’Epiro can describe in excruciating detail how his neighbour’s lawn equipment and pets ruined summer afternoons and dinner parties for him and his wife for more than a decade in Ridgewood, New Jersey. But he’d rather not. “I can barely think about that situation without rushing for the Valium or the IV gin drip,” he says.

Ramos-Horta and Yudhoyono, sick bastards! image Indonesian Pres. offers no apology to Timor-Leste luis, Tuesday, Jul 15 2008, 9:46am
The longsuffering people of Timor-Leste received no apology today after an inquiry revealed that the Indonesian military and Indonesian security forces were responsible for committing and inciting murder, rape and torture in Timor-Leste in 1999. Approximately fifteen hundred Timorese were murdered by militias and an indeterminate number were raped and tortured after militias went on a rampage killing and destroying crucial infrastructure in East Timor! text Oz Judiciary upholds democratic Rights peptide, Monday, Jul 14 2008, 10:32pm
The world, but particularly Australia, remembers the dark day when police-state tactics were introduced to the nation by the most incompetent government the state of NSW has ever known. The APEC summit was utilised to impose the most draconian policing/laws this peaceful nation has ever seen. The blackshirt State Premier, Morris ‘il duce’ Iemma today lost his case to impose additional draconian laws on the good people of NSW. Iemma hurriedly passed laws in parliament for the Pope’s visit and WYD that effectively impinged on the civil liberties of citizens. (story and 1 comment)

Rudd and Pope image A taste for the socially ‘aware’ barra, Sunday, Jul 13 2008, 12:24am
Today, July 13, my news aggregator revealed a world of INANITIES in the mainstream press! After glancing at the featured content, I realised we, the masses, are completely LOST. It hit home (hard) that ‘pigs, dogs’ and incompetent buffoons rule the world because they actually REPRESENT the mindless, moronic MAJORITY – therein lies the formula/seeds of our destruction! The grim fate beckoning vacuum-heads beckons us ALL – I began to wish it was all a bad dream but it was worse, it was on TV! (story and 3 comments and 3 images)

If anyone is qualified to assist the former Portuguese Colony of Timor-Leste, it’s the former Portuguese colony, Brazil! Principally because former colonies face similar problems and the last thing Timor-Leste needs at this time is another patronising white nation interfering in local politics and development. Lula’s record is proven and his credentials impeccable, impossible to beat! (story and 1 image)

blacka2.jpg image Worse than McCain Mike Whitney via reed, Friday, Jul 11 2008, 9:33pm
Every four years, liberals and progressives are expected to set aside their beliefs and stand foursquare behind the Democratic Party candidate. This ritual is invariably performed in the name of party unity. It doesn't matter if the candidate is a smooth-talking politician who's willing to toss his Pastor of 20 years overboard for a few awkward comments, or whether he refuses to defend basic civil liberties like the 4th amendment's right to privacy. All that matters is that there's a big "D" following his name and that he shows he's willing to engage in some meaningless verbal jousting with his Republican opponent. (story and 1 image)

text Stop the new FISA Chris Hedges via quill, Friday, Jul 11 2008, 8:41pm
If the sweeping surveillance law signed by President Bush on Thursday -- giving the U.S. government nearly unchecked authority to eavesdrop on the phone calls and e-mails of innocent Americans -- is allowed to stand, we will have eroded one of the most important bulwarks to a free press and an open society.

text Police State tactics adopted by former ‘Liberal Democracies’ nano, Wednesday, Jul 9 2008, 3:35am
It was with alarm that I first witnessed police state tactics in AUSTRALIA at the last APEC summit held in Sydney. Never before had laid back Australian society been exposed to such tactics. Australia’s first exposure to implacable storm troopers and new draconian laws had the anticipated effect; protesters and ordinary demonstrators were shocked into submission and docility. The NSW Premier, Morris ‘il duce’ Iemma, couldn’t have been happier, he was the first Premier to use such heavy handed tactics on citizens; he had done his blackshirt ancestors proud. Segments of the Italian and conservative Anglo communities lauded our own little, il duce. The ‘Labor’ premier even received praise from the arch-conservative PM, John Howard, who was quick to announce his total support for Iemma’s harsh police tactics.

text Insane U.S. gearing up for all-out WAR finn, Monday, Jul 7 2008, 11:54am
Let’s not kid ourselves any longer; the psychopathic Bush regime leaves no doubt as to its intentions; it continues to encircle and provoke Russia and China into a confrontation. Bush, in typical American delusory fashion, believes he can deliver a knockout blow and take the prize – impossible, but in a sense Bush has no other choice. (story and 4 comments)

The most damning and potentially EXPLOSIVE news to hit Australia in decades is the revelation of planned U.S. Sarin nerve gas tests on Aussie troops in the 60’s. text Australia has no better ‘friend’ than Sarin Gas America nano, Sunday, Jul 6 2008, 12:13am
‘Shit floats,’ but for those with bourgeois sensibilities, the truth always surfaces. However, we need a suitable context to emphasise the point and what better context than the behaviour of the current and previous slaves to America, Prime Ministers Kevin Rudd and John Howard! We hope the issue of America’s true attitude to Australia – and the world -- will be clarified once and for ALL! Satisfaction guaranteed for patriot Aussies and cringing colonialists alike! kelly.jpg image Civilian death toll – unacceptable/indictable! yarra, Friday, Jul 4 2008, 11:38pm
AFGHANISTAN -- "US-led air raid kills 22 civilians", Reuters UK reports on July 4. We need not go into detail, as it’s now a very familiar story. Whether it’s from unmanned drones, long distance artillery or missile attacks the result is all too familiar. The U.S. today is able to boast humanitarian offences and war crimes that dwarf the numbers achieved by African and Asian despots in the past. (story and 1 comment and 2 images)
