Illegal: US Supreme Court’s ruling on Torture Bay
gade, Thursday, Jun 29 2006, 8:23am
The US Supreme Court ruled today that Guantanamo Bay detention/torture centre was illegal (by implication) and the kangaroo military commission established to try the detainees is in breach of the Geneva Convention, well duh! Expert international lawyers stated the plain facts – illegality – of the matter from the start. Who could accuse the ‘slow to see daylight’ US court system of bias? Surely the principal pillars of American ‘justice’ could not be influenced by Bush or his neo-cons? (story and 3 comments and 1 image)

Richard Perle: A Serial Warmonger!
William Hughes, Monday, Jun 26 2006, 5:34am
He accused President George Bush of cowardice. He said, “Bush blinked” and authorized the European coalition (EU-3) “to approach Tehran with proposals to reward the mullahs if they promised to end their nuclear weapons program...The mullahs don’t blink--they glare...I know it is not too late for us, not to give substance to Bush’s words, not too late to redeem our honor.” I had to wonder if Perle cleared this personal attack on Bush, with Cheney? Rumsfeld? And, who is he to talk about redeeming “honor?” He doesn't’ have any! (story and 1 comment)

The Cardinal and the Bondi Boy
cleaves, Sunday, Jun 25 2006, 1:47pm
Just prior to the appointment of Ratzinger to Pontiff, I happened to cross the path of Cardinal George Pell in Pitt Street, Sydney, early one evening. I couldn’t help (politely) inquiring of him whether he was a man of God. He responded, much to my amazement, “I don’t know about, ‘man of God’, I am a Catholic Priest!” Regardless of anything previously stated by various commentators, his answer to me was forthright, candid and accurate (by his own admission). I was somewhat disarmed by his candour and manner, which was in contrast to his bearing and physical stature, he is a huge man around 6’ 5”, I would guess. (story and 1 image)

Leaders and Led
sun, Thursday, Jun 22 2006, 8:28am
Leaders are our example and we should emulate and follow that example at all times, in this way we guarantee a future of complete destructive ‘anarchy’ for the world – ‘blessed are the liars and murderers for they have inherited the earth’! Whatever the discourse and regardless of any other consideration we will incorporate it to achieve our aims. The law and other ‘constraints’ are for the weak; we create and alter laws according to our needs. ‘Sedition’ automatically implies our ‘right’ and your ‘wrong’ – we are the trustees of 'reality', we weave the social fictions YOU live by.

The Sentence: Oz Justice
Bob, Wednesday, Jun 21 2006, 6:38am
Bob’s barrister nudged him in the ribs as a signal to stand. The jury had returned with its verdict. Bob anticipated their decision as one would an echo – guilty as charged! The Judge shifted into automatic and delivered the sentence – three years with not less than twelve months to be served for his third offence, possession of marijuana.

Emergence
gan, Sunday, Jun 18 2006, 4:36pm
Welcome to the twenty-first century, welcome to social retrogression and the new barbarism – primitive theological values and barbarism have temporarily stolen the post-modern age. Quite an irony in today’s highly advanced society but the reality of barbarism and retrogression are undeniable. The world’s most advanced technological nation is a perfect example. America has succumbed to theological ideology and all the bigoted, avaricious, violent values associated with primitive religion and barbarism. A crusader, a mental deficient who fancies himself a ‘holy’ knight of the Middle Ages battling the forces of ‘evil’, leads the USA; a literal mental retard and social regressive leads the world’s ‘leading’ nation.

The Suspension of Belief and the Implosion of Meaning
budgie, Thursday, Jun 8 2006, 5:20pm
Existence in a post-modern world, or living in a world where text/image (signs) have imploded and offer no inherent meaning outside a consciousness that animates/endows signs which in turn deliver meaning/endowment back to the same consciousness that so desperately needs to invest in meaning! In other words, ‘reality’ is up for grabs; creating your own reality in a world of competing ‘realities’ has become the principal pursuit of modern humanity. (story and 2 images)

Al-Zarqawi and the ‘Superpower’
nano, Wednesday, Jun 7 2006, 6:07pm
The Australian ABC has posted a bulletin announcing the death of the Jordanian punk, Al-Zarqawi, a petty criminal elevated to a position far beyond his street gang mentality, capability or stature! The ‘headline’ of June 8, 2006, reads:
“Terrorism in Iraq 'not over' despite Zarqawi death
US President George W Bush says American special forces "delivered justice" to Al Qaeda's leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, by killing him in an air strike.” (story and 5 comments and 1 image)

MADNESS
finch, Saturday, Jun 3 2006, 7:00am
The lack of skill and the madness of US Military personnel has once again made headlines. The latest exposed atrocity committed by US forces is the massacre of twenty-four innocent civilians (including women and children) in Haditha, Iraq. Little wonder that ineptitude and lack of expertise is displayed at the end of the chain of command when the top of the chain displays the greater degree of incompetence. But the most profound madness is exhibited as the inaction of the people of the USA. The madness of paralysis in the face of criminal government; the madness of inaction against the subversion of the Constitution of the United States; the madness of lost civil liberties without a struggle or insurrection. MADNESS has permeated every layer of society, from the top to the bottom, throughout the entire culture the disease is easily identified. MADNESS is the USA TODAY! (story and 2 comments and 2 images)

Timor-Leste (Update)
peptide, Thursday, Jun 1 2006, 2:55pm
America has been steadily reducing its active presence in the South Pacific over the past decade. Australia (the deputy sheriff) is expected to ‘step up to the plate’ and safeguard western interests in that region. Timor is the first test of deputy (dog) in the region and to date the deputy appears to be weakening at the knees. (story and 2 comments)

Reeking in Timor
nano, Sunday, May 28 2006, 7:21am
Did I hear that word again (communist)? The comment/accusation was directed at the Timorese Prime Minister Alkatiri during an Oz ‘newscast’ – certainly puts an interesting slant on the Timor situation! I was reminded of the emerging independence of the Congo and the short life of its charismatic leader, Patrice Lumumba. The intervention of the CIA and the subsequent assassination of Patrice were entirely ‘coincidental’ events! (story and 3 comments and 2 images)

Expediency: the Death of Ideology
budgie, Thursday, May 25 2006, 7:35am
While the forces of the traditional ‘left’ argue and analyse themselves into irrelevance (out of existence) the expedient right rumbles forward like a juggernaut. The left has been overwhelmed by simple expediency, the ‘whatever it takes’ (just get the job done) mentality is winning the day. Political correctness has all but destroyed the left whereas the right streaks ahead unburdened by any ethical issues. Ideology has been completely abandoned in favour of strategy. Any semblance to ideology is merely coincidental or a ruse/distraction. (story and 1 comment)

Liars’ Club Confab: Bush and Blair at White House
William Hughes, Thursday, May 25 2006, 7:06am
The prime members of the Anglo-American Liars' Club, President George W. Bush and the UK's Tony Blair, met at the White House on May 25, 2006. The bull session lead to more perpetual war propaganda, including an agreement to keep troops there until the new Iraqi government of occupation "takes control." Protesters expected at the confab, include Ann Wright, who resigned her State Dept. job rather than endorse the Neocon-inspired war. (story and 1 image)

Symbiosis: Religion and the State
Kingfisher, Tuesday, May 23 2006, 8:18am
Furthermore, theology induces passivity to authority – there is no better method of creating compliance than theology. Who else would quietly accept injustice, various forms of deprivation and huge disparities in the distribution of wealth than those who imagine it is the result of demerit, sin or the will of some God? Many extremely intelligent and capable people become observably handicapped when the subject/spectre of religion rears its illogical, paralysing and fear-inducing head. Never doubt the power that is born of theological indoctrination (child abuse) and the resultant fear that it engenders (usually for life).

Conservative coalition enters Next Phase
peptide, Friday, May 19 2006, 4:33pm
In response to increased UN pressure to close the illegal Guantanamo Bay detention/torture centre, the Americans left no doubt, “we have no intention of closing Guantanamo Bay”. The flagrant illegality of Guantanamo Bay is lost on the Americans, or worse, stands as a defiant monument to American belligerence and unilateralism. The rest of the world can go to hell; Americans do what they want when they want, is that clear?

“The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.”
fish, Tuesday, May 16 2006, 7:09am
Moses identifies his God in Exodus 15:3 – interesting description to say the least. Moses is either a liar or his God is a bloodthirsty God of War. There are numerous references in the text confirming without doubt that the God of the Old Testament is a murdering sociopath suffering from an unquenchable blood lust. Numerous verses and passages offer incontestable proof to that effect but there are none better than the story of Jericho. Jericho stands as the oldest record of premeditated genocide. Kill everyone regardless; men, women, children and suckling infants. (story and 6 comments)

Failure of the Affluent State
nano, Monday, May 15 2006, 7:21am
When the State fails and criminals steal the reigns of power corruption filters through State institutions. The agencies and the regulatory ‘authorities’ usually ‘toe the line’ and therefore cannot be trusted to serve the interests of the people. When the government becomes a den of thieves, liars and murderers it is the people who must restore sanity and legitimate government.
