"Never underestimate the power of human stupidity" -- Robert A Heinlein

Melbourne hosts Cult Conman
numbat, Monday, Apr 20 2009, 11:59am
There should be a law against stupidity but then America would be a prison nation – it does in fact have the largest prison population in the world! I raise this issue prior to launching into a travelling con artist, known as David Icke. This man subscribes to the theory that lizard people rule the world! If you think that is crazy what would you think of people that actually pay to hear this con artist speak? We believe a post-'lecture' DVD pack will soon be available for a mere $50 -- who needs the Golden Fleece when it is easier to fleece the dumb Australian public? ‘There’s one born every minute’ or my favourite quote for these occasions; “Never underestimate the power of human stupidity” – Robert Heinlein. Tamil civilians slaughtered as army shells 'no-fire zone'
Gethin Chamberlain via fleet, Sunday, Apr 19 2009, 6:59am
[De-sensitisation to the suffering of others comes, as does everything, at a price. Callousness rots our very soul; we lose a little bit of what makes life worth living each time we ignore the plight of our fellow human beings. Have you noticed how Western populations long for an end to their misery?

The War Crimes Act of 1996, a federal statute set forth at 18 U.S.C. § 2441, makes it a federal crime for any U.S. national, whether military or civilian, to violate the Geneva Convention by engaging in murder, torture, or inhuman treatment.

“They [American torturers] will not be subject to prosecution”
nano, Thursday, Apr 16 2009, 11:11pm
Torture is acceptable and known torturers are protected in the USA; that is the very clear message delivered to the world by boy ‘president,’ Barack Obama! If ever there was a time to fear history that time is now, you pathetic, little, no account, slave! Even the bleeding ‘progressive’ hearts have nothing to run with now! Continuity we can believe in; slave status CONFIRMED; full steam ahead with the status quo and ‘it’s all over now, star-spangled blue!’ [THE CONSTITUTION MUST PREVAIL; CAPABLE PEOPLE ARE AUTOMATICALLY (LEGALLY) COMMISSIONED TO SAVE THE NATION! Be advised you scurrilous criminals, you are KNOWN and you are ACCESSIBLE! JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL; you can bet your vile lives on that!] (story and 1 comment and 1 image)

Federal Authority Over the Internet? The Cybersecurity Act of 2009
Jennifer Granick via Kismo, Wednesday, Apr 15 2009, 10:50am
There's a new bill working its way through Congress that is cause for some alarm: the Cybersecurity Act of 2009, introduced by Senators Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME). The bill as it exists now risks giving the federal government unprecedented power over the Internet without necessarily improving security in the ways that matter most. It should be opposed or radically amended.

DHS report: blaming the victim
yarra, Tuesday, Apr 14 2009, 9:09pm
A recently unclassified report written by Bush’s Department of Homeland Security is one of the first examples of a corrupt and criminal US ruling elite attempting to shift focus and BLAME from INCOMPETENT GOVERNMENT and WALL STREET CRIMINALS onto the hapless victims, the American people! Is your favourite media outlet relentlessly pursuing KNOWN, SELF-CONFESSED, and other (proven) WAR CRIMINALS? NO! Then it’s not acting in the PUBLIC INTEREST! REAL journalism acts as society’s CONSCIENCE; it does not compromise in its pursuit of KNOWN war criminals until justice is served – has JUSTICE been served yet? (story and 1 image)

Aussie military advisor subverts USA from within!
Captain, Monday, Apr 13 2009, 1:47am
David Kilcullen, favourite Aussie advisor to the Pentagon and Congress, has finally done it! By telling the idiot yanks exactly what they wanted to hear, Kilcullen has facilitated the demise of America by allowing Pakistan to fall into the hands of (Pashtun) tribals and affording Afghani freedom fighters the time and freedom to RE-GROUP, EXPAND and mount DEVASTATING ATTACKS on foreign occupiers -- we won’t mention the lost Pacific, SE Asia and Africa, but you’ve got to laugh at the ‘effort’ so far! Earth Changes according to Edgar Cayce
quill, Sunday, Apr 12 2009, 8:03am
Edgar Cayce needs no introduction for those sensitive to life and its greater meaning. Humankind has unfortunately failed itself; it failed to learn two simple lessons, brotherly Love and Peace! The USA leads the world today in mass murder, plunder, selfishness, crime and all manner of vile pursuits. Those who follow will share in the 'reward!'
I leave you with some interesting predictions. (story and 4 images)

"They should arrest Obama for impersonating a President"
Ted Rall via rialator, Friday, Apr 10 2009, 8:06pm
America is a nation of laws -- laws enforced by Spain.
John Yoo, Jay Bybee, David Addington, Alberto Gonzales, William Haynes and Douglas Feith wrote, authorized and promulgated the Justice Department "torture memos" that the Bush Administration used for legal cover. After World War II, German lawyers for the Ministry of Justice went to prison for similar actions. (story and 1 comment and 1 image and 1 attached file)

Leigh Sales, the CIA agenda and Lateline Australia

Before we mention exactly how the producer of ‘our ABC’s’ Lateline, Tim Palmer, ‘acquired’ his Tertiary qualifications from UTS -- did you think for a minute the ‘assistance’ extended you by extremely accommodating lecturers (particularly Kurt B) went unnoticed (?) -- we would draw attention to the current servile relationship the Rudd government has with a nation that has a history of pressuring our ‘leaders’ to comply with their every demand, no matter how insane, impossible or downright idiotic. Will China be caught with worthless greenbacks?
Mike Whitney via zing, Tuesday, Apr 7 2009, 9:57pm
Fed chief Ben Bernanke has embarked on the most radical and ruinous financial rescue plan in history. According to Bloomberg News, the Fed has already lent or committed $12.8 trillion trying to stabilize the financial system after the bursting of Wall Street's speculative mega-bubble. Now Bernanke wants to dig an even bigger hole, by creating programs that will provide up to $2 trillion of credit to financial institutions that purchase toxic assets from banks or securities backed by consumer loans. The Fed's generous terms are expected to generate a flurry of speculation which will help strengthen the banking system while leaving the taxpayer to bear the losses. It is impossible to know what the long-term effects of Bernanke's excessive spending will be, but his plan has the potential to trigger hyperinflation or spark a run on the dollar. The Smooth Criminal Transition from Bush/Cheney to Obama
Larry Chin via quin, Saturday, Apr 4 2009, 6:55am
To sober, clear-eyed observers of history and political deception, the ascension of Barack Obama held the promise for unprecedented new dangers: a revitalized New World Order, led by the Anglo-American empire’s neoliberal criminal faction and an iconic, deceptive new facilitator; and a continuation of Bush/Cheney criminality and war, under smarter and much more effective management.
Now, just months into their tenure, the Barack Obama administration has more than fulfilled the promises he made to his elite constituency, deepening the mass destruction of Bush/Cheney, while charming its victims all over the world into enjoying their own demise. (story and 1 comment and 1 image)
