The Dalai Lama’s religious hypocrisy equals the best of the West

Fresh from receiving honours and a gold medal from the world’s most brazen mass murderer and torturer, George W Bush, the exiled Dalai Lama of Tibet has begun another round of China-bashing, which he obviously timed for the approaching Beijing Olympics. Why they call this man a religious leader is beyond rational comprehension. The Dalai Lama today is 100% political and could care less which devil he sleeps with in order to achieve his goals!

Torturer and Hypocrite
Torturer and Hypocrite

The Dalai Lama criticised China for its human rights record in Tibet but conveniently omitted to mention the holocaust in Iraq! In a world where some people are obviously more human or important than others should we be surprised or offended by the Dalai Lama’s flagrant disregard for the suffering of non-Tibetans – real Buddhism is non-discriminatory but the ‘simple Buddhist monk’ seems to have forgotten a central tenet of the Buddha’s teaching!

The hypocrisy of religionists today is remarkable; not the slightest efforts are made to disguise sordid political behaviour. The pope of the West and the Dalai Lama of the East meet in the disgraceful backroom of political expediency and compromised theology.

I suppose the loss of religious integrity follows from the flouting/breakdown of international law and convention as seen in the Balkans.

No special qualifications or titles are required to see the consequences for society when its moral and legal institutions fail!
