Israel faces future annihilation as Bush delivers ultimatum to Gulf States
Mike Whitney via rialator, Monday, Feb 4 2008, 9:19am
Mike Whitney’s articles are always insightful and entertaining though some titles could do with a little modification. We are always happy for his work to be included in our “other press” section; however, his latest effort begs additional analysis. We would be pleased if he or others familiar with the subject would contribute additional information and pursue their analysis and deductions to logical conclusions.
An obvious question is why should Gulf States compromise their own economies and acquiesce to Bush’s ultimatum if Russian Naval and Air Power in the region are poised for action? Neither Israel nor the USA is in a position to declare war on the entire region. Any such action would inevitably involve Russia and China – so let’s hear it from the informed experts! Ed.

Kosovo: justification for a retaliatory attack on the USA
Michel Chossudovsky via reed, Sunday, Feb 3 2008, 8:14pm
While the European Union and the US, have acknowledged that they would be "opposed" to a " unilateral" declaration of independence of Kosovo, the secession of Kosovo from Serbia is already de facto. It is part of a US-NATO military agenda. It is the culmination of the 1999 NATO led invasion. It responds to US-NATO strategic objectives. (story and 2 images)

Serb coalition in doubt after Tadic win
Douglas Hamilton via rialator, Sunday, Feb 3 2008, 9:44am
BELGRADE (Reuters) - Serbia's pro-Western president Boris Tadic has won re-election in a contest with nationalist Tomislav Nikolic, but his narrow victory may only have set up a fresh struggle over the country's future course. (story and 1 image)

Violence
quin, Saturday, Feb 2 2008, 12:11pm
Violence has always been a problematic issue for humankind. The world is characterised by violence from storms/weather to the behaviour of microbes and large carnivores. However, the wanton violence of mankind is in a category all by itself. It is little wonder violence poses a major dilemma for all human societies.

The Free World and America’s ‘Fort Apache’ mentality
druze, Friday, Feb 1 2008, 12:25pm
Remember how the west was ‘won;’ slaughtering buffalo, the principal food supply of plains Indians, and establishing Forts to secure outposts in the ‘Indian territories?’ All those treaties, lies and slaughtered natives, one and half centuries ago; but expansionist methods haven’t changed an iota. Welcome to Fort Bondsteel in Kosovo and hundreds of other American bases throughout the world!

The Age of Cowardice
finn, Friday, Feb 1 2008, 7:46am
The most outstanding feature of almost two decades of Australian ‘leadership’ is COWARDICE and the social paralysis that it engenders. A decade of John Howard’s disgustingly servile leadership continues with another face and another party. Labor’s PM, Kevin Rudd, is proving to be even more timid and frightened than his predecessor – most Aussies thought that would be impossible, however, reality is difficult to deny!

In these times: a prelude
person, Wednesday, Jan 30 2008, 7:18am
Today’s governments are noted for the contempt they display toward the people. Nations that once held democratic values in the highest regard have succumbed to nasty totalitarian expediencies. Totalitarian nations continue to treat their people harshly and with little tolerance for personal freedoms. Former democratic nations and successful totalitarian nations are undergoing an ideological convergence. Regardless of ideology, however, it is always THE PEOPLE THAT PAY THE PRICE FOR THE INEPTITUDES AND FAILINGS OF THEIR LEADERS. Well, we have had enough, its time for EVERYONE to accept responsibility for their own actions -- that includes Bank Executives, Company CEOs, Financiers, and our politicians.
We are the people OF THE WORLD and we have had enough! Learn this slogan well, WE ARE ONE! It will either save you or it will be your nemesis.

State of the Union: living in your own private Denial-aho
Jay, Monday, Jan 28 2008, 7:08pm
If you haven’t seen a State in denial we recommend re-playing Bush’s last State of the Union address -- is anybody out there? The clueless, “mission accomplished” president of the U.S.Aaaay was greeted with a standing ovation from Congress, unrestrained cheers and acclamations reaching to the rafters but the delusory, obviously strained overkill betrayed the PANIC of (crashing) reality. What has the Bush administration done right, name one Goddamn thing, to put it in the American idiom! Just one positive contribution – give it a shot and taste reality through all the baloney and disaster! (story and 1 comment and 1 image)

Bill Clinton smirked as he bombed Belgrade
Milan, Sunday, Jan 27 2008, 11:34am
News videos clearly depict then U.S. president, Bill Clinton, smirking after the Chinese embassy was hit by missile attacks on Belgrade, capital of Serbia. Targeting civilians was a crime then and remains a war crime today; however, the world was not yet familiar with the criminal tactics that later would characterise the ‘new’ American terrorist State! Davos: reading the sub-text
dingo, Saturday, Jan 26 2008, 11:30am
It is useful to have the world’s economic leaders and private sector financial ‘geniuses’ together for a summit – we could have bombed them for causing so much misery around the globe! The prognosis from these economic vandals is more gloom, they ought to know they created the situation – don’t you just love the inverted insanity of it all? However, reality must be addressed regardless of whether or not the patients have taken over the asylum. (story and 2 images)

Asian high court shows the way
Kingfisher, Friday, Jan 25 2008, 8:32am
Formerly listed as the most corrupt nation in the world, Indonesia is now demonstrating to a thoroughly corrupt American judiciary and administration that the LAW must be observed and allowed to function without interference from the State; the world’s most corrupt nations now seem to emanate from the West! We refer to the flagrant flouting of international law and convention in relation to illegal detention, pre-emptive warfare, torture, and disregard of the territorial integrity of sovereign nations. YES, with over one million civilian deaths to its ‘credit’ America is beyond dispute as the world’s leading terrorist and criminal State followed closely by the dominant nations of NATO! Confirmed: Kosovo secession designed to destabilise Russia
dragan, Thursday, Jan 24 2008, 11:14am
The western backed illegal Kosovo ‘government’ of Muslim KLA terrorist, Hashim Thaci, is set to secede from Serbia in days according to latest reports. NATO and western forces are pouring troops and support personnel into the breakaway province as I write. However, it has now become exceedingly clear the tiny province does not warrant all this fuss and risk. It has become clear that western backed secessionist moves in Kosovo have been designed to create/trigger turmoil in other ethnically disproportionate regions, particularly in Russia. Let the Children Play
peptide, Wednesday, Jan 23 2008, 8:56pm
Shame on us all for tolerating the needless deaths of millions of innocent children worldwide but especially in Africa. Have we all become heartless PIG Americans? Remember the embargo Clinton placed on Iraq, which killed more children than the Bush invasion and subsequent war? The non-intervention of Condi Rice and John Bolton in South Lebanon resulted in more children killed than military casualties – give war a chance! Callousness, heartlessness and self-interest result in the deaths of millions of children every year but who cares as long as our tanks are full? (story and 2 images)

Rice in economic damage control
budgie, Wednesday, Jan 23 2008, 9:54am
Economics is not one of Condoleezza Rice’s strong points; she is more familiar in roles of invasive warfare, infanticide, plunder, U.S. imperial expansionism and propaganda. Perhaps she relies on her rather feeble skills as a propagandist in an effort to sell economic snake oil to wary and grounded Europeans. Neither Europe nor the rest of the world is buying, Condi; stick to what you know and do well, like killing children and plundering oil! Describing the U.S. economy as ‘resilient, healthy and sound,’ flies in the face of REALITY, Condi, but reality has never been familiar territory for the Bush regime! Pre-emptive nuclear madness: an Iraq legacy
yarra, Tuesday, Jan 22 2008, 2:00pm
It was certain! Failing to adequately deal with the illegal, pre-emptive strike on Iraq has given license to the same criminals and sociopaths to adopt pre-emptive NUCLEAR strikes today! The conventional pre-emptive strike on Iraq was based on lies; the result is the first holocaust of the 21st century but that HORRENDOUS REALITY seems to have been overlooked by the psychopaths who drafted the latest nuclear strike manifesto in Western Europe. Clitoral Economics
Barbara Ehrenreich via rialator, Tuesday, Jan 22 2008, 1:37pm
With all the talk about how to stimulate it, you'd think that the economy is a giant clitoris. Ben Bernanke may not employ this imagery, but the immediate challenge--and the issue bound to replace Iraq and immigration in the presidential race--is how best to get the economy engorged and throbbing again. Hands on Leadership with Hugo
barra, Sunday, Jan 20 2008, 9:39pm
Latin American politics is not as dreary as the local timid variety. Hugo Chavez certainly knows what it means to lead. While some in the west may find his political methods a tad extreme, they certainly deliver results. Chavez recently threatened to nationalise the banks if they didn’t comply with the latest laws obliging them to make funds available for mortgages, small business and farming at accessible rates. The ‘Penny Drops’
finch, Sunday, Jan 20 2008, 10:20am
Applying the ‘KISS’ principle we are easily able to determine that the regulated economy of China is the world’s leading economic success story. Western deregulated economies have been outperformed/beaten/trounced/devastated/etc by the regulated economies of the East. However, big money interests in the West are loath to admit their failure! Also, notice the reticence of the western mass media to cover this major story; a very partisan bias is clearly evident in this regard. (story and 1 image)
