Whale slaughter in Southern Oceans

Why is a Northern Hemisphere nation, JAPAN, permitted to flagrantly slaughter whales in Southern Hemisphere waters? Perhaps widespread inaction in the face of blatant Japanese smugness, arrogance, contempt for the environment, the International Whaling Commission and other nations is related to the world’s toleration of criminal wars resulting in hundreds of thousands of innocent human casualties! What chance do whales have if innocent HUMAN BEINGS are treated as expendable?

The history of Japan is a history of insensitivity, brutality, racism and the most heinous war crimes in modern history. Who could forget the brutality and inhuman treatment dished out to allied prisoners during WWII; or perhaps the most appalling murderous rampage of any modern army, the massacre of Nanjing in 1937-8? Your favourite search engine will reveal the true character of the Japanese, a racist, criminal, murderous (and contemptuous of others) belligerent nation.

The most influential nations in the Pacific, USA, Australia and New Zealand are also the nations directly responsible for the illegal occupation and consequently the appalling civilian death toll in Iraq – a fact that Japan exploits to full advantage. But should the welfare of our fellow human beings, whales and the planet/environment be left in the hands of KNOWN criminals? Present circumstances suggest the above nations DO NOT SERVE THE INTERESTS OF THE PLANET AND ITS INHABITANTS. The world and all it has to offer is NOT the personal property of rapacious minority interests or arrogant powers.

Today, the obsessive pursuit and slaughter of ‘whales’ may lead to dire consequences for all concerned – a fact that Japan (and others) should consider well. The impact of criminal whale slaughter on the people of all nations may lead to a revision in the attitude the world displays toward Japan and other criminal nations.

Criminal nations are acutely aware that knowledge of their crimes is in the public domain, however, the powers rely on public paralysis born of complacency and denial to ensure impunity. History records instances of entire populations duped by criminal powers, but it also records the many contributing factors that result in dramatic social change.

Should the world negotiate with criminals or should criminals be immediately apprehended and held accountable for their crimes? This poll question was put to a junior high school class; the answer was emphatic and resounding!
